| WASHINGTON — Susan E. Rice, the ambassador to the United Nations, conceded on Tuesday that she incorrectly described the attack on the American mission in Benghazi, Libya, in September as following a spontaneous protest, rather than being a terrorist attack. But she said she based her statement on the intelligence available at the time and did not intend to mislead the American public. Funny...... bad intelligence that EVERYONE agreed with during the Clinton administration became a LIE when it didnt pan out under Bush.
An intentional LIE, told to affect the outcome of an election and cover-up an administration´s incompetence becomes an ERROR when caught.
Where is George Orwell when you need him to translate the "new speak"?

Sounds like McCain and Graham gave Rice the third degree. Maybe Ayotte too. Good.
I don´t know enough about Ayotte to know what role she is playing here. In these days of identity politics, perhaps the political calculation is that the GOP must present a female face when confronting a lying fraud like Rice --even though a true feminist would say that Susan Rice should be a Big Girl, fully capable of defending herself against Evil Old White Men.
But of course Obama-ites and the MSM only believe that women are fully capable when it suits them.
In any case, it takes guts to push back against the onslaught of hysterical Dems and MSM weasels who shriek "racism!" whenever a Democrat, who happens to be black, is exposed for incompetence and/or dishonesty.

Now that Hillary Clinton has spent the last four years demonstrating in all four corners of the world that there is no reason to have a Secretary of State in the Obama administration since so few countries respect us anymore, why would Susan Rice or anyone else want to take such a job?
Does Ms. Rice think she can persuade the Chinese to raise the value of the yuan when all others have failed? Is she planning to try another rhumba duet with another North Korean dictator to make him agree to stop building nuclear weapons?
The only foreign leader Obama has developed friendly relations with is Mohamed Morsi, who, if he achieves his dream of creating a Sharia state in Egypt, will not permit Ms. Rice to enter his country unless she´s wearing a burkha with a full head covering and agrees to wash Mr. Morsi´s feet before discussions can begin.
The Republicans will be doing Susan Rice a big favor if they can prevent the Senate from approving her nomination, but the Republicans don´t control the Senate, so Harry Reid will undoubtedly succeed in making Ms. Rice´s life one of international misery and frustration for the next four years.

From what I heard today, I do not believe any of our Senators gave her a hard time behind the scenes. If this is real anger we see from McCain and Graham, then they will use every tool in the toolbox to prevent her from being confirmed. Any excuses? Then it was all more theater. As soon as Dems blasted any suggestion of combining all these. "Investigations" into one or getting a special prosecutor the Pubbies shut up about it. So I do not have faith in our guys taking this much farther.

Borelli is the very model of a human being, an African American and a woman who is just plain tired up to here at all of the back of the bus treatment dished by liberals — black and white alike — to conservatives who happen to be black. Ms. Borelli has in a figurative sense, as Rosa Parks did in the original and literal sense, sat down in a seat reserved for liberals at the front of the American bus. The impending policies of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will affect individual farmers and their employees. There are an estimated 600,000 crop workers and roughly 20,000 livestock workers in California at a given time. For every job in farming, the industry creates two to three nonfarming jobs. It´s an industry that should thrive in California, where the climate is kind.(Snip)"There´s nothing affordable about the Affordable Care Act," Tom Nassif said to us; he´s president and CEO of Western Growers, an advocacy group representing area and regional family farmers in Arizona and California.

A country that stakes its future on lies will not have one. The fashionable lie of the moment is “gay marriage.” The push to deprive children of mothers and fathers for the sake of “genderless” marriage has never been stronger. The media propaganda about its “inevitability” is unremitting. One would think, judging by all the triumphant rhetoric heard this week, that over 30 states had approved it. In fact, over 30 states have banned it. According to the Washington Post, which just a few weeks ago was categorizing Christians as racists, the issue is all settled and done.

It was bad enough for the Obama administration to earn an overall grade of C-minus on its level of transparency from the independent watchdog group Cause of Action. When coupled with evidence of what is being hidden, the information makes the administration look even worse. Cause of Action uses requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), lawsuits, and other tools to expose what it calls “job-killing federal government regulations, waste, fraud, and cronyism.” As has been reported by Caroline May at the Daily Caller and others, the organization last week issued a report called “Grading the Government,”

Want to know if Republicans finally back immigration reform, stand a chance of picking up Senate seats in the midterms, or get their act together by 2016? Instead of the GOP, watch the Rubio-Paul Party. Forget John Boehner. Ignore Karl Rove. The real action in the GOP is coming from the newest wing of the party, the one born in the spring of 2009 - the offspring of Tea Party activists that almost single-handedly propelled Republicans to control of the House. This new movement brought Marco Rubio and Rand Paul to Washington

The weasels who wrote the Obama health law postponed the pain until after the 2012 presidential election. Popular provisions were put into effect immediately, such as allowing children to stay on their parent’s plan until age 26, offering “free” colonoscopies and mammograms (in truth, forcing you to pay for them in your premium, whether you get them or not), and giving women the thrill of getting contraceptives at the drugstore without paying anything. The White House also granted 1,472 waivers to certain companies and unions exempting them from insurance reforms

This may sound odd coming from someone who has spent his life working in political reporting, but I find it extremely sad when people can’t separate politics from the rest of their lives. I’m not talking about people getting worked up about politicians; we live in divided times, so things are bound to get heated when talking about elected officials. I’m talking about people who say “I want nothing to do with [Person X] because he is a conservative/liberal/Republican/Democrat in his personal life.” This is why I find the Orson Scott Card thing so frustrating.

Will the government be able to implement Obamacare smoothly? An “impossible endeavor,” writes a reader who describes himself as “83 years young, married to a beautiful lady for 65 years, with a 54-year career in technology starting with punch cards in the Navy, retired from three major corporations at the director level, last position was with EDS working on Y2K project.” He goes on to list some of the things he believes need to be done, which I quote with his permission. I don’t know enough about this to make a judgment myself, but I have noticed over the years

Last week, President Obama told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that “we don’t have an immediate crisis in terms of debt.” It was par for the course (after all, he is almost always golfing) for the nation’s chief executive who just last year did not know the amount of our nation’s debt and made the preposterously naive statement that “a lot of it we owe to ourselves.” Apparently, our coming debt crisis is the only one Democrats do want to go to waste.

If President Obama’s rhetoric on domestic policy can be said to have a coherent theme, it involves his desire to use government to create a level playing field in which no single segment of the electorate enjoys unfair advantages or suffers disproportionate disadvantages in the pursuit of happiness. He is particularly concerned, he tells us, that the “rich” pay their fair share while poor and minority Americans receive their just due. Somehow, though, every policy decision made by his administration seems to tilt the playing field against the latter.

Staffers for Sen. Dean Heller have been bullying other senators’ aides to protect the Nevada Republican’s space in the Russell Senate Office Building, CQ Roll Call has learned. As part of the biennial Senate office lottery, junior members are obligated to show their office suites to more senior members, who then have 24 hours to decide whether to claim that space as their own. Heller’s office suite — which he inherited after the scandal-fueled resignation of Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev. — may be particularly attractive to other senators because its floor plan includes a larger-than-average member office.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors.
