Gov. Christie put any speculation about his future plans to rest Monday, announcing that he would run for a second term as governor next November. The 50-year-old Republican made the announcement while visiting police and fire crews at Port Monmouth, one of many Shore towns ravaged by Sandy last month, saying the storm cemented his decision. "The public needs to know that I´m in this for the long haul. That the person that led them through the initial crisis wants to be here to lead them through the rebuilding and restoration of our state," he said.
Note the self-regard. "...the person that led them through the initial crisis wants to be here to lead them..." Wow! Is Christie a bigger narcissist than Obama? Our party(and country)is barren of real leaders. Sigh.
"Led them through the initial crisis" Yeah whatever. You provided the poser in the W.H. a photo op that was invaluable to him in his re-election campaign. Have you heard from him since Governor Christie? You are done in the GOP..we have no use for fools like you.
When the Dems nominate their candidate, the press that built Christie up will turn on him as they did McCain, Dole and Romney. What they build up, they can destroy and will if it is a Republican. Like Obama, they thought Busch was a joke candidate.
R Govs have made a difference in Penn, Ohio, Fla, Indiana, Michigan, Wisc, etc. Christie has made no difference in NJ, a rock solid blue state, addicted to big government, high taxes and pc. Just another noisy and self absorbed lefty wind bag who will be out on his kiester next year. Watch.
Three years ago, New Jersey regulators suspended abortion provider Steven Brigham´s medical license for endangering and deceiving patients. During the suspension hearing, he testified that he was covered by medical malpractice insurance. Now, as Brigham, 57, tries to regain his license, New Jersey prosecutors have submitted evidence that his sworn statement was yet another lie. They allege that not only did he stop carrying required liability insurance around 2006, but last month produced a phony insurance policy when forced to back up the statement.
Yesterday, in an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, President Obama addressed the problems caused by his incessantly-repeated pledge to the American public that “if you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.” As millions of Americans receive cancellation letters in the mail, however, that pledge looked increasingly strained. “I am sorry that they, you know, are finding themselves in this situation, based on assurances they got from me,” the President said last night. In the course of his interview, however, Mr. Obama made
A Pennsylvania father is steaming mad after the head of a local teacher’s union suggested he may be a “neo-Nazi” for questioning a school assignment. Josh Barry, of Camp Hill, Penn., expressed concern after his daughter brought home an assignment analyzing a New York Times article discussing the recent government shutdown. Examiner.com first reported the story. The assignment asked questions like, “Whom do you hold most responsible for the government shutdown?” and “Do you feel it is principled or irresponsible for politicians to threaten a shutdown?”
A pair of parents in Connecticut—who had apparently never seen an episode of any sitcom ever—went away for the weekend and had the genius idea to leave their daughters, 15 and 16 respectively, home alone for the weekend. This is where I´m supposed to use #YOLO, right? It is? #YOLO Seriously, though, the girls allegedly threw parties for 15-20 people* on Friday and Saturday, even though they aren´t of legal drinking age. And, just like in your favorite sitcom, the parents returned home from vacation early and caught their daughters in the act of throwing a third party on Sunday
The National Football League has implemented a new stadium policy that would ban off-duty police officers from carrying guns into games. Cleveland’s police union president worried the policy would stop officers from assisting if a dangerous situation arose. Off-duty police officers often will carry their weapons on them, according to the union president, because “when we walk through city streets, we’re police officers too” and “you never know what’s going to happen, or when it’s going to happen,” he said. The head of NFL security, on the other hand, said that “the likelihood there’s
On Sunday, Breitbart News Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro discussed the launch of a new website that will seek to "change the nature of media" by exposing the donors and advertisers that enable the mainstream media to distort the truth and push their agendas with no accountability, especially when it comes to their bottom lines. Shapiro will lead TruthRevolt.org, which will launch on Monday to expose the mainstream media and “unmask leftists in the media for who they are, destroy their credibility with the American public, and devastate their funding bases."
The faculty at a middle school in Connecticut has just about had it up to *here* with all of those tired, forced references to the Geico "Hump Day" commercial that your dad loves so much. They´re so fed up with students quoting the camel commercial that they´ve banned all references to the spot, which is, apparently, a thing that seemed reasonable to them. "Everybody´s walking around in the hallways and saying it´s hump day in that weird voice," said Brooke Lewis, who is a student at Vernon Center Middle School.
Left-wing journalist Seymour Hersh, a living legend with the American mainstream media, states the obvious in a new interview with The Guardian: That when it comes to Obama, the American media´s unrequited crush on the president has turned them into useless fanboys and water carriers: Seymour Hersh has got some extreme ideas on how to fix journalism – close down the news bureaus of NBC and ABC, sack 90% of editors in publishing and get back to the fundamental job of journalists which, he says, is to be an outsider. … He is angry about the timidity of journalists in
Not long before my first album was released in 2005, I spent a summer in Russia interviewing small business owners. An American microfinance organization had sent me there to gather rosy statistics and uplifting stories about how their loans had improved the lives of this new crop of entrepreneurs. Instead, I would arrive in some city with a recently gutted economy, only to have men and women selling knockoff jeans or fruit from Uzbekistan tell me the same thing: they missed the factory. That is, their old jobs working at some inefficient Soviet enterprise. They didn’t like the financial uncertainty
Mmm, you smell so good, I could eat you up! Any parent who has snuggled a newborn baby knows the powerful feelings evoked from smelling that fresh, warm little head. A new study from University of Montreal scientists explains why new baby smell is so delicious. From the moment she first held her newborn, Diana Flower was captivated by the baby’s smell. It got into her head and stayed with her wherever she went, even after she started back to work part time. “I couldn’t tell you what she smells like,” Flower says. “But it’s emblazoned in my memory.
WASHINGTON - The Internal Revenue Service says an official at the center of the agency´s tea party scandal is retiring. Lois Lerner headed the IRS division that handles applications for tax-exempt status when she was placed on paid leave in May. While she was in charge, the agency acknowledged that agents improperly targeted tea party groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status from 2010 to 2012. Lerner first disclosed the targeting at a law conference in May, when she was asked a planted question about IRS treatment of political groups. Less than two weeks later, she refused
MIAMI (AP) - Diana Nyad´s 110-mile swim from Cuba to Florida has generated positive publicity and adoration for the 64-year-old endurance athlete - along with skepticism from some members of the small community of marathon swimmers who are questioning whether she accomplished the feat honestly. On social media and the online Marathon Swimmers Forum, long-distance swimmers have been debating whether Nyad got a boost from the boat that was accompanying her - either by getting in it or holding onto it - during a particularly speedy stretch of her swim. They also question whether she violated the traditions of her
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
President Obama’s job approval among American voters has dropped to negative territory with just 38 percent voicing their approval versus the 58 who says they disapprove, according to a national poll released Tuesday by the independent Quinnipiac University. That is one percent less than the 39% who said they approved of him in last month’s poll. The majority of the 2,692 registered voters the University in early December said that the president is not honest and trustworthy. When asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as President?,” respondents gave Obama lackluster ratings
Looks like this president can’t get away with flirting in front of his wife… It appears that first lady Michelle Obama was none too pleased with the way that President Barack Obama was acting toward Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt during a ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela, and before too long, they switched seats. This lmao! Michelle Obama vs Prime Minister of Denmark at Mandela´s ceremony. pic.twitter.com/Rq4uF9fTaZ — Stun (@TheBlogPirate) December 10, 2013
The sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela´s memorial yesterday "made up his own signs," according to South Africa´s deaf federation. "He´s a complete fraud," Cara Loening, director of Sign Language Education and Development in Cape Town, said according to ITV News. "He wasn´t even doing anything, There was not one sign there. Nothing. He was literally flapping his arms around." Delphin Hlungwane, an official South African sign language interpreter at DeafSA, told Reuters:
Say goodbye to the 60-watt incandescent bulb. This year manufacturers started phasing out 100w and 75w bulbs. On January 1 it will become illegal to import or manufacture traditional 60w and 40w bulbs too. Time to stock up? Not so fast. First, check out Cree’s energy-sipping new 75-watt replacement bulb. I used to be outraged over the federal government’s draconian moves to outlaw traditional lightbulbs. For 100 years we’ve lived and thrived under the warm glow of incandescent lightbulbs. Aside from the fact that 90% of the electricity used by the bulbs is radiated in the form of heat rather than
