U.S. State Dept.: No Information
on N. Korea´s Missile Launch

Arirang News [South Korea], by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 11/27/2012 1:25:02 AM

The United States says it has no new information about North Korea´s speculated preparations for a long-range missile test. Instead, State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland urged the leadership in Pyongyang to refrain from further launches, in accordance with the UN Security Council´s presidential statement adopted following the North´s missile launch in April. Reports surfaced last week that latest U.S. satellite images suggested North Korea was preparing to launch another missile in the near future. South Korean officials will meet with their U.S. counterparts in Washington in the

Comments:
While this future North Korea missile test is important, something else in the article is, as well. It names the State Department spokesperson as Victoria Nuland. At this point in the whole Benghazi murder and coverup by the White House, you have to wonder why she wasn´t the face we saw and heard in the days after, including the five Sunday talk shows. Why was UN Ambassador Susan Rice, with no obvious truthful talking points put out immediately to the LSM, instead?

Oh, and can we believe anything that the State Department has to say, now?

I would think that the Defense Department and the intelligence have the info but neither trusts the State Department.

As Obama meets the pope,
Francis´ smile masks a serious message
Los Angeles Times, by Doyle McManus    Original Article
Posted By: LittleHoodedMonk- 3/27/2014 3:45:00 PM     Post Reply
When Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis a little more than a year ago, the first thing that struck those who knew him well was his unexpected, beatific smile. “In Argentina, he didn’t smile like that,” Sergio Rubin, the pope’s biographer, said this week at a conference sponsored by the Ethics and Public Policy Center. “That was the big surprise.” Since then, the pope has mostly kept on smiling — in homilies, in audiences, in meetings with the homeless and the poor. If you look at the pictures from Francis’ meeting with President Obama on Thursday, though, the smile is there only some of the time.

Obama Invites Pope Francis

Rome - Meeting for the first time today, President Obama personally “invited and urged” Pope Francis to visit the United States, telling him “people would be overjoyed to see him.” If the pope were to accept the president’s invitation, it would be his first visit to the United States as pope. Earlier this month, House Speaker John Boehner also invited the pope to address a joint meeting of Congress — something no pope has ever done. Speaking at a joint news conference with Prime Minister Renzi today, Obama said it was a “great honor” to meet the pope and that they had a wide-ranging discussion that centered on

The number two Republican in the Senate is lambasting a media “shield law” proposed by New York Democrat Sen. Chuck Schumer, potentially imperiling its shot at passage. “This is a bad idea and one whose time has not come,” Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), the Senate minority whip, told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview. “Believe me, we will not be rolled over.” Schumer’s “Free Flow of Information Act” passed the Senate Judiciary Committee in September, and he recently said he already has the 60 votes needed to pass the bill on the floor. “We’ll get a few more Republicans, not many more, but we have the 60 votes,” Schumer

Washington - The Air Force fired nine mid-level nuclear commanders Thursday and will discipline dozens of junior officers at a nuclear missile base in response to an exam-cheating scandal that spanned a far longer period than originally reported. Air Force officials called the moves unprecedented in the history of the intercontinental ballistic missile force, which has been rocked by a string of security lapses over the past year, including a failed safety and security inspection last summer at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., where the cheating happened. Three members of the U.S. Secret Service’s counter assault team were sent home from President Obama’s trip to Europe this week after one was allegedly found passed out in the hallway of a Netherlands hotel where the president would be staying the following night. The incident has embarrassed the agency and is a stain on the reputation of one of the Secret Service’s most elite and demanding units, known internally as “CAT," which accepts only a sliver of those who audition for a position. Kiev - Ukrainian former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, released from jail last month after her arch-foe Viktor Yanukovich fled from power, said on Thursday she would run again for president in an election on May 25. She also pledged to build a strong army and said she hoped to be able to recover Crimea from Russia, which annexed it last week. The announcement by the flamboyant Tymoshenko set up a contest with boxer-turned-politician Vitaly Klitschko, who has also declared his candidacy, and other figures who have emerged to contend for top posts after four months of political turmoil.

President Obama and Pope Francis spoke at length about shared concerns on foreign policy and income inequality during their historic meeting at the Vatican, President Obama said Thursday. But the pope and other Vatican officials also raised social issues, including the birth-control mandate in ObamaCare and abortion, the Vatican said. Obama told reporters that "the largest bulk of the time" was spent discussing two central concerns of the pope: growing inequality and "how elusive peace is around the world." California state Sen. Leland Yee (D) was arrested Wednesday at his home in San Francisco and accused of — among many, many other things — offering to procure some seriously illegal weapons. The irony: Yee was one of the driving forces behind some of the toughest gun-control legislation in the country during his tenure in the state Senate. (Snip) This year, Yee introduced two more gun-control bills. One, S.B. 108, would have required the Justice Department to study local safe storage ordinances that prevent children from getting access to their parents’ weapons. Republicans need to pick up six Senate seats in November to win back the majority. Thanks primarily to heavy spending from the Koch brothers-backed Americans For Prosperity, the GOP has been lapping Democrats over the airwaves in many of the states where the majority could be won or lost. With one notable exception: Alaska. Because of the relatively cheap cost of advertising in the sparsely populated state, Democrats have largely kept up with Republicans in the Last Frontier. According to data provided a Democrat tracking the ad buys, total Democratic spending has been about $1.5 million, while the GOP has

What’s one way to get Sarah Palin’s attention in a crowded Republican primary fight? For U.S. Senate candidate Joni Ernst, releasing a TV ad that mentioned her youth spent castrating hogs worked rather nicely. An Iowa state senator, Ernst on Tuesday released a memorable 30-second spot, which highlighted the unglamorous task she performed while growing up on a farm. “Washington’s full of big spenders,” she says at the end of the ad. “Let’s make ’em squeal.” The provocative message appeared to have resonated with Palin, who highlighted it in her endorsement of Ernst on Wednesday. “Any question about the type of Senator Joni will

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) said the fault of struggling to sign up on the Obamacare exchanges didn’t lie with the faulty website, but with the people who weren’t “educated on how to use the Internet.” Explaining the reasoning behind the latest Obamacare delay, Reid said too many people just didn’t know to use their computer properly and needed more time. Apparently, it had nothing to do with the well-documented failings of the website that have embarrassed the White House for months. “We have hundreds of thousands of people who tried to sign up who didn’t get through,” he said.

Okay, THAT was certainly embarrassing. At the end of a joint news conference with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in the Netherlands on Tuesday, the applause for Barack Obama came from a grand total of one guy. One. After thanking the crowd twice for suffering through his boring, standard worn-out spiel, Obama looked around the room, expecting the usual fanfare and applause he receives from his loyal followers back home. It never came. Instead, the Leader of the Free World was met with one slow, awkward clap. Question: was MSNBC’s Chris Matthews in the house?

According to the AP-GFK survey released Wednesday, 59 percent disapprove of Obama´s job performance while 41 percent approve. A similar poll released by the news outlet in January found 45 percent approved of him while 53 percent disapproved. Other recent polling has found Obama´s disapproval rating slightly lower, remaining in the low 50s. A CBS News poll Tuesday showed 50 percent disapproval, while Gallup has his disapproval at 52 percent. In the AP poll,

On Tuesday night two things happened. 1. A trio of Secret Service agents were sent home from Amsterdam after one was found passed out drunk in a hotel hallway. 2. The Obama Administration announced (another) extension of the enrollment deadline for Obamacare signups. At first glance, these two events have little in common with one another. But, modern politics is all about narratives and storylines. And, both of these events confirm a growing concern from the public about President Obama: That he´s just not up to governing his administration and, by extension, the country, effectively.

One by one, the myths of the Affordable Care Act have been revealed. When the curtain on open enrollment falls on March 31, the last remaining big myth of ObamaCare will be fully exposed: The individual mandate has failed. After a last-ditch effort with President Obama himself encouraging "young invincibles" to sign up before the deadline, the administration is scrambling to boost enrollment. On Tuesday, the White House announced that people who applied for coverage on the federal health-insurance exchange will have until mid-April to finish the paperwork. The mandate was supposed to be the administration´s magical elixir for the assorted shortcomings

These Republicans are applying conservative principles to 21st-century challenges, focused on middle-class concerns like lowering costs and improving access to college, modernizing health care and reforming the tax code. They aim to broaden prosperity´s reach through markets and merit, not government and corporate cronyism.
