´Shut Up, Grandpa´
American Thinker, by Daren Jonescu

Original Article

Collectivists of the Washington establishment, representing both major parties, have analyzed the 2012 election results and come to a lovely conclusion: old white men are the problem. The only difference of opinion between the two factions regards how one ought to handle it. (snip) Republican experts, as the reluctant stewards of these cantankerous fogies, are more circumspect: they merely want to leave Grandpa ranting in the corner with his talk radio shows

Neither of my sons - grown men in 30´s and 40´s - get it. They roll their eyes when I try to tell them what´s going wrong. The younger one especially sighs and tunes me out. So - I say nothing now. They don´t even understand what they´ve lost.

I lived during a wonderful time in this country - thanks to men like my dad and uncles who went to war, came home, built homes and families. Those days are long gone. One day these young ones and illegal aliens who think they are finally getting a piece of the American pie will understand just what they have allowed to happen.

Sad but true, and these 2 generations don´t even know that they don´t know much. Over the past several years, we have watched business entrepreneurs pass the family-built organization into the hands of their spoiled children .... only to see the fruits of their years-long labor crumble, while Sonny Boy ´played the role´ of Mr. Important.
.... A famous national pharmacy business was saved only because the Board of Directors took it away from Sonny and fired the remaining in-house incompetents. A Pennsylvania department store chain was saved when the namesake business builder came out of retirement to rescue his stores from the incapable nephew who didn´t get it.

They need Grampa more than ever, and I wonder which smart business owners are going to rehire the ´old guys´ who actually understand what it takes to keep the doors open.

This Grandpa did not spend thirty years in the military to stand down from a fight now. Intercity gang bangers and little girls who demand I pay for their contraceptives do not make a practical fighting force and as T. Have your kids and grandchildren read "The Fighting Hawks at D-Day" available on Amazon.com. It´s written so they will understand why they are free and the sacrifices made to keep them that way.

As a member of the newest American minority, I can testify to the decades-long erosion of the bonds that once fostered and protected our traditional understandings of both virtue and responsibility. Churches bowed to secularism; local business associations were replaced by professional community organizers; teachers, once professionals, unionized and became tradesmen. And, along the way, we´ve been confronted with the reality and consequences of the pill; new and improved STDs; less emphasis on the three R´s and more on protecting our children´s feelings; popular music that is not only duller, but more aggressive and vile; a media that claims to have moved from being a trade to being a profession; and a growing number of families in which no one has had gainful employment for several generations.

What can I do about all of this? Well, I´m not sure because, not only is the whole new progressive world dead set against me, so, too, are the numbers for my breed. whose demographic replacement value has been well under 2.1 for quite a while, now. So, my current less-than-brave inclination is to sit back in a comfy lounger, light up another cancer stick, keep the ice covered with a nice single-malt and tune into MSNBC so I can watch the on-going celebration of my (and my country´s) imminent demise. Cheers.

Some around here need to remember that "life goes on....long after the thrill of living is gone." Don´t ever give up. That´s what O´fool wants us to do; give up and die. There are many opportunities in business with today´s technologies and today´s foolish youth unwilling and therefore unable to produce. Continue to fight the statists with your wallet, brain, and feet. Spend wisely and with fellow conservatives. Use your brain and start your own business. Use your feet if you have to, pick up and move to more business friendly climes. And don´t tell me how hard it is to start a business - I started mine up last August after an extended period of time unemployed and doing part time manual labor...and I´m in my 50s. If you are on this site you know how to use a computer. Google computer related stuff, study it, and figure out how to earn a living from home. Do not count on savings and investments. All of us need to be able to produce to survive. Besides, there is almost no better way to anger Obama than to be a success in spite of his efforts to keep us down. Sorry about the rant, but perfectly capable people giving up burns me up.

Blame Granpa at your peril!

The older I got, the smarter my dad and Grandpa became. These young skulls who know everything are going to have a time of it after I´m gone off this mortal coil.

The Great Depression provided a great deal of moral courage which these young ones have not lived through.... The very notion that someone should work to provide for those who won´t work is foreign to Granpa.

If our major media were not fully committed propagandists, they would report the findings of a large scale survey of law enforcement personnel on the subject of further gun legislation. After all, they are currently following the President´s strategy of distracting the public from the awful state of the economy by exploiting the victims of Newtown to push for further erosion of Second Amendment rights. So the views of law enforcement personnel ought ot be of some interest. But of course the results are dramatic

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

Before America embarks on changing the concept of marriage, I hope they will at least agree on examining cultures that do not define marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman. In their eagerness to achieve their goals, the pro gay marriage enthusiasts are marching towards what they perceive as progress and modernity while ignoring lessons from other cultures, history, basic human nature and the horrific and negative unintended consequences of redefining "marriage". Islam´s definition of marriage is one man and up to four women

During the highly publicized exchange between Bill O´Reilly and Laura Ingraham on gay marriage, O´Reilly made this statement: "There are Bible thumpers, and all they do is say, ´I object to gay marriage because God objects to it.´ You don´t win a policy debate in America with that." Really? Before central control out of Washington was imposed in 2003, policy arguments for criminalizing homosexual acts were won explicitly "with that." And because of "that," the idea of gay marriage has been unthinkable throughout the history of the American nation.

It´s one thing for President Obama to be cocky and overstate his prowess at governing. People are used to politicians grabbing credit, and besides, you can always rationalize when it comes to explaining why things didn´t quite work out as you claimed they would - "the sequester ate my recovery" being the latest successful-enough example. But sports is something else. The basketball either goes through the hoop or it doesn´t. That´s why President Obama´s history of braggadocio regarding his prowess at hoops is having a potent effect on his overall public image, especially with those who are favorably inclined to him.

Joe Klein, the celebrated author "Anonymous," who wrote the best selling, truth-telling book Primary Colors about the 1992 primary campaign that brought us President Bill Clinton, has made it ok for liberals to apply the word "incompetence" to the Obama administration.
