Yes, there were some bad choices but I don´t like the idea of the establishment coming in from on high and dictating what happens locally either. Can´t folks work together to choose the BEST candidate possible? The Democrats don´t fight each other like we do.

Losers (in every sense) like Akin and Mourdock are poison for undecided voters and for those who might be leaning right. Democrats can use such loser candidates to great advantage, and they do, perpetuating lousy republican stereotypes. The "losers" need to be removed. Who´s going to DO it?

What #3 and #5 said. The GOP cannot afford to be taken over by ANY interest group, not even the Tea Party. And I say this as a long-time supporter and member of our local Tea Party. IMO, there has to be more vetting of Candidates before they are put on stage to represent the GOP. Rhetoric HAS to matter.

There´s plenty of blame to go around - Murdoch and Aiken (backed by the Tea Party), but also Thompson, Mack, Allen, and Brown (supported by the party hacks) all lost.
At a minimum, we need to run a candidate boot camp to put candidates through the gauntlet of hostile press questions - rape, incest, abortion, whether jews go to heaven, etc. and teach them to respond, "God makes those decisions, not senators, congressmen or governors."
