What kind of "leader" binds himself forever and signs a pledge to a little nobody (or to anybody for that matter) to vote in a certain manner no matter how situations may change or what is best for his constituents and the country may change? Only someone who is thinking of nothing more than his next reelection campaign and is running scared. And I´m not for raising taxes either, but will not vote for anyone who let´s Norquist exert this kind of power over him/her. Why not just elect Norquist as a one member Republican Congresscritter for the party and send these weaklings home.

Wild guess the money raised by higher taxes will be spent and not used to reduce the deficit. Democrats will promise to cut spending in the future but will only agree to cut military spending so nothing will get cut. If Republicans are interested in making pledges ´´for the good of their country,´´ then all Republican Senatorial candidates should pledge never to mention the words ´´abortion´´ and ´´rape,´´ particularly in the same sentence, and all Republicans in South Carolina should pledge to find an attractive Conservative Republican to oppose Lindsay Graham in his next re-election campaign.

sigh......I have no more words for the insanity that the major parties have presented the electorate as candidates and for the electorate who cannot really express their own stance.

This is kind of interesting here - we have two different kinds of Republican purists here - 1) those that insist they will not vote for a R candidate who does NOT sign the no tax increase pledge ; and 2) those who will never vote for a Republican that commits themselves by signing the pledge. And people wonder why we don´t have more Republicans in office. Hmmmm, well here´s one explanation up there. Why do Republican´s even get into these conversations?

Off topic...while I may not approve of gay marriage...I do believe gays have no business in elected office unless they are out of the closet?..And if so, serve proudly as you are...
Otherwise their reluctance to stand as gay makes them blackmailable and a national security risk to the country ...where their actions may be dictated..for the same reasons that Petraeus was a national security risk...among other high level government officials
