Backed by Obama, sharp-tongued
Susan Rice battles critics

Reuters, by Louis Charbonneau & Susan Cornwell

Susan Rice has had a series of diplomatic triumphs as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. President Barack Obama, an old friend, showed he has her back when last week he publicly challenged her Republican critics over the Benghazi controversy to "go after me" rather than her. She knew former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright from the age of 4. And yet Rice is now fighting for her political future. Her chances of becoming the next secretary of state - replacing Hillary Clinton - have been significantly damaged. Senior Republicans, such as Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham,

Comments:
This woman is supposed to be a diplomat? She couldn´t do a lot of harm at the UN, but as SoS, she would be real trouble. Anyone else think all this hype about Rice is to soften us up to accept John Kerry instead?

FTA: While Rice said some statements about her by McCain were "unfounded," she may have been trying to mend fences when she added: "I look forward to having the opportunity at the appropriate time to discuss all of this with him."

Translation: Mend fences??? He´s gonna get a cussing from me like he´s never heard.

FTA: Rothkopf, who was an official in President Bill Clinton´s administration, cited James Baker and Henry Kissinger as exemplary secretaries of state.

They were "tough infighters who broke a few eggs and made some enemies. They are admired for their toughness, and (Rice) is attacked for her abrasiveness," he said.

Observation of the obvious: Gender isn´t the only difference between Rice and those two highly intelligent, politically experienced and accomplished men. Therein lies the problem with trying to equate them.

She is a well educated incompetent woman. If you didn´t realize she is black, you do now.

Since she turns out to be black, you are not allowed to criticize anything she has ever said or done. Get this straight. All negative comments must stop immediately.

She is a nasty little thing, completely ineffective at the U.N.
And her doctoral dissertation was on Zimbabwe politics and reform. That interests me, because as I noted earlier, someone trying to put one over on one´s dissertation committee tends to pick an obscure topic, usually unfamiliar to one´s committee members.
She may be a hoax.

I am beginning to believe what OP suggests. That she will continue to be treated roughly (without Obie´s intervention) so that Kerry as SoS would seem to be a relief. That may account too for the absurd suggestion floated that Kerry would be nominated for SoD.

#7, we had a power surge here in the Erie, Pa area a few days ago, and it killed my lucianne account. Don´t ask me to explain how that happened, but it did. I had to reapply, and since the old name would not work any more, I selected Dr.Lakerman, since other variations of lakerman seemed to have been taken.
My comments on academic matters (as in the case of Rice) are almost always correct. I spent most of my civilian life in the academic world, and I can spot a hustler pretty quickly. And in the areas of foreign policy/international relations, the people who work in that area are mostly shoveling smoke. That makes it relatively easy to sneak through the credentialing process.

The sexism is really in a lot of countries aronnd the world that frown upon women in power. They´d much raher deal with a male. That´s just the way it is. I never cared for Holbrook that much or think he accomplished anything but if he were still alive, that´s the type you would want. The truth is Obama doesn´t have a big list of backups to put in this job. Many would face embarrassing questions during confirmation and the dirt digging would fly.

Rice is a female version of Obama. She might be academically or book smart but that doesn´t mean she has an ounce of sense or really cares about American interests.Aside from the Benghazi bungle, she´s very pro muslim and that would skew her view on Israel. That´s the biggest hot spot in the world right now.

"A coup is a coup is a coup is a coup." Kid you not, that was literally her argument against the people of Honduras, including black ones, who constitutionally removed their president and saved their country from communism. Rice was having none of it and did all she could to smear the Hondurans in the name of supporting Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro.

For Honduras alone, Rice is unfit to represent the United States of America. She is a flaming leftist.

"Tough economic sanctions on Iran?" Iran is arming Hamas and Hezbollah, establishing a submarine fleet, causing trouble in Iraq and, oh yeah, is moving full speed on its nuclear weapons program along with buying and making delivery systems that can reach Europe. How well are those sanctions working?

Every person in the Benghazi knowledge chain was in Washington that Sunday and could have gone on the five shows but Barack Obama chose the one diplomat who was totally out of the picture to go in front of America and spout the version the White House wanted spread. Whether the SoS job was a payoff, I don´t know but it sure smells like it! What I do believe is that people in the Administration above her knew her talking points were a lie when they sent her out in front of the mediaand I´m pretty certain she knew it too.

Barack Obama, speaking at Zingerman’s Deli in Ann Arbor, Michigan, decided to take aim at the budget released by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan. “If they tried to this sell [Paul Ryan´s budget] at Zingerman’s, they’d have to call it the ‘stinkburger’ or the ‘meanwich,’” Obama said. After two months of sometimes-fevered speculation about what-they-would-discuss, the March 27 meeting between Pope Francis and President Obama produced little in the way of hard news. It did, however, generate some confusion about just what happened. That confusion was instructive on several counts. It was a reminder of just how poorly equipped most of the world media are to cover the Vatican and its ways — an incapacity that can often be blamed on the woeful state of Vatican communications, but not in this instance. It illustrated how the story-line that much of the world press has created about Pope Francis impedes
