The two year-old abandoned in

Black Friday: Sad images of police
rescuing child from Kmart parking lot
on another day of chaos at the shops

This is the moment a two-year-old boy was rescued from a Kmart parking lot after he was abandoned by a shopper who left with a wide-screen TV--just one of the shocking incidents on a day of chaos on Black Friday yesterday. Anthony Perry, 35, of Springfield, Massachusetts was arrested for leaving the child unattended and he faces potential child neglect charges. Authorities found the child sleeping in Perry´s Nissan Venza in the Kmart parking lot and broke into the vehicle to get him out. The vehicle was towed and the child was taken to a hospital for a check-up.

You would think that this was a third world nation where people went without all year ´round except for Black Friday!
I fail to see what Victoria´s "Secret" really is when you see a mob that just can´t wait to get in there to buy nothing! There is no Black Friday deal good enough to expose myself to that chaos. Good grief! Pure gluttony on display! I am truly living in a world I don´t understand anymore. We are a lost nation of misplaced priorities.

I honestly would not go out on Black Friday even if they told me I would get it for free. I despise the crowds, the traffic, the rudeness, the noise and most of all the greed. I stayed home listening to all my favorite Christmas music, my favorite talk show hosts online and putting up my Christmas tree.

I have a tradition of staying home the Friday after Thanksgiving. I look forward to and really enjoy the day. There is no electronic gadget or anything else that could entice me to wait hours at midnight or 4 am. I do not shop on Thanksgiving day. I leave room for the people who like this sort of madness and they can have it.

Yesterday i was on my tractor shredding my pasture when a shear bolt broke on the shredder. I needed a 3 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch bolt so I went to our local Tractor Supply. We live in a small rural Texas town of 4500. Well that place was packed with folks buying everything from bags of feed to toy tractors and trucks. I figured that Tractor Supply wouldn´t be crowded on black Friday but I was wrong. Took me a half hour to get in and out with the bolt.

Semi-related.

Should really bad times come, say a massive earthquake in California--or just the continuation of the economic trajectory that we are on-- that drives hordes like this to YOUR home, one of the few stocked with food and a generator, this is what you can expect.

No care for someone trampled. Any hint of civilization tossed aside. Moronic hordes, emboldened by little fears of repercussions or the law, do exactly as they please. ( I wonder how much stuff walked out of the store?)

Be prepared if there is a disaster folks, and that includes a plan and weapons. If people are willing to do this during the "warmth of the holiday season", what do you think they will do when the economy collapses and they are hungry?

The wife and I intended to "brave the crowds" to pick up my new glasses. We couldn´t find any crowds to brave.

The optometrist´s office is in a city of about 6,000. The Walmart parking lot was fuller than usual, but not horrible looking for Friday. The parking downtown was normal for Friday evening.

The traffic jam on the way home consisted of dodging raccoons, etc, in the road.

I´m glad I don´t live in MA.

Just back from the State Department where the US-UK diplomacy on Syria has reached Monty Python levels of double-speak. William Hague was agitated and impotent as usual. Reflecting long-standing British impatience with the US sitting on its hands over the Syrian conflict, he lambasted Assad in the usual manner: “murder” “tyranny” “grave threat” “urgent crisis”. You get the picture. Mr Kerry spoke with even more emptiness than Mr Hague, before letting slip this pearl: “We are determined to do everything that we can in order to help the opposition to save Syria,” he said. Really? “Everything that we can?” Ho-ho.

Why did he go to China? It was always an odd aspect of his plan that he should choose as his refuge from tyranny a totalitarian state that happily spies on its own people and imprisons dissenters. The row over government surveillance that is convulsing America has inevitably prompted questions about Britain’s own online snooping. That is only natural: GCHQ is by far the largest (and most secretive) of our intelligence organisations, and its links with the National Security Agency are practically umbilical--central not just to the Special Relationship, but to keeping us safe from terrorists and foreign hackers. In an earlier age, it would have been enough for the Foreign Secretary, William Hague, to have informed the House of Commons, and the nation, that GCHQ’s work was entirely above board; that a senior minister

A chief investigator for the agency’s inspector general wrote a memo outlining eight cases that were derailed by senior officials, including one instance of interference by Clinton’s chief of staff, Cheryl Mills. Any mention of the cases was removed from an IG report about problems within the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS), which provides protection and investigates crimes involving any State Department workers overseas.

Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) said Wednesday that the incidence of pregnancy caused by rape is "very low," prompting criticism from Democrats who said the GOP is waging a "war on women." Franks made the comment during a committee mark-up of his late-term abortion ban bill, which is expected pass the House next week. The Republican lawmaker was arguing against a Democratic amendment allowing rape and incest victims to procure abortions. As written, the bill only exempts women whose lives are in danger. "You know, the incidence of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low," Franks said.
