| Walmart employees were threatening to bring holiday shopping to its knees by striking on the busiest shopping day of the year to show their demand for a better working conditions. So, how did it go? Plans for the protests have been in motion for a little over a month now. Largely organized on Facebook by a group called Organization United for Respect at Walmart, today´s protests were meant to be the grand culmination of two months of smaller, minor protests at Wal-Marts across the country. Well, in Chicago, protestors were bussed in

It´s the liberals own base members that sabotaged their efforts with their obsession over the latest gadget to be cool like the rest of their friends..I seriously doubt people mobbing these stores were tea party members.
Maybe half this country is planning on sensible spending to preserve what wealth they have to offset an Obama surprise. If you have a government check coming in every month, there´s no reason to be sensible.
When you spend 4-5 years digging out from credit card debt, the last thing you want to do is ring it up again. Families are making compacts on spending limits.

What´s with the unions and their obsession with day-glo T-shirts? We know that their members are dumb, but is it really necessary to dress them up like little mongoloids going to the Special Olympics? What next, notes attached to their T-shirts with their names and directions for taking them home if they wander away from the big purple bus?

Private sector unions make up 7% of the workforce, they are truly on the way out. Can´t happen soon enough. UNIONS ARE FOR STUPID PEOPLE just look at the article photos.

Fox did a clip yesterday, where the reporter was going up to various protesters, asking them why they were there, and what the protest was about, the every one of them said, ´talk to the man in the green shirt.´ Those protesters, who are paid cash by the unions, are dumber than dirt, and might say the wrong things, I suppose. It was a sorry mess, created by the megalomaniac Rich Trumka. And it came off worse than the Governor Walker recall attempt.

Private sector unions exist for one reason, so Neanderthals like Trumka can dress in expensive suits and make profanity-laced speeches. Maybe one day union workers will figure that out. Probably not.

Thanx #4 . Right To Work states have basically erased the union stench and others have been contemplatig passing the law as well . Was it Ill. ?. that really cot my attention . The big appeal about them is a pension fund . When members find out it won´t necessarily be there for them , they bail . At this point , any bet half those outside Walmart are looking for a good , decent job .

I suspect one of the reasons these types of protests are failing right now is that the public has to deal with things like budgets and finding a job. With the economy the way it is, we have no patience for idiots who throw these kind of tantrums about their jobs and workplace. If you don´t like your job, find another. Good luck with that.

The Twinkie strike and bankruptcy sale is the deathknell for private unions. The Bakers sold out the Teamsters for a few sheckels more, and now the company is belly up and thousands losing paychecks. What WalMart worker would walk out for that?

Read all the foolish union rules foisted on Hostess! There´s no way even a behemoth like WalMart could long survive such business-destroying insanity. Thank goodness the protests failed.
Unions were once essential to worker rights, which is great as long as the unions were reasonable and allowed the company to continue to exist. Now, they serve to enrich Dem politicians and union bosses, who are all business haters and control-freaks. These people are so insane they eat the hand that would feed them.

#19 - but that´s the whole point. To the Left, Walmart is the Great Satan. It has put countless small local sandalmakers, organic candledippers, macrame craft shops, and purveyors of overpriced two-year old "new clothing" out of business. The idea is to unionize Walmart to make its goods more expensive than those of small town retailers of the retired hippie sort -- or even better, drive Walmart out of business altogether. To the AFL-CIO, Walmart is "the Big Cupcake".

Ah, but find the larger point, friends! Find the larger point!
The Left demands "´freedom´ of ´choice´" should a woman be "punished" with an "inconvenient" pregnancy [read: baby].
But -- freedom of choice on unionization? Never, never, never! Card check! Closed shops!
Freedom of choice on where to shop? WalMart-box or Mom-n-Pop? Never, never, never!
[Did you know that 90% of private-sector union members today never voted to join the union? They´re members because they hired into a company with an existing union/closed shop deal.]

I have a problem with this statement: Walmart employees were threatening to bring holiday shopping to its knees by striking on the busiest shopping day of the year to show their demand for a better working conditions.
It was not employees who started this. It was the national unions who have lost members over the years are attempting to get more members.... they are nearly dead on the vine if they don´t.

I am always amazed — amazed — when anyone has the gall to dismiss, even laugh off, the suggestion that the right to keep and bear arms is a smart and necessary provision for a free society. Human history (not to mention current events!) is too chock-full of examples of nefarious regimes violently abusing and controlling their people, and the freedoms enjoyed by American citizens are the exception, not the rule. During a committee hearing of the Oregon state senate in considering their own state package of gun-control legislation last week, one testifier reminded the assembled lawmakers of one

Plastic surgeons and dermatologists are seeing more and more people who want their tattoos removed, often because they worry that the tattoos could cause problems with employment. Andrew Breitbart has become an iconic and beloved figure on the right, so it’s hard to imagine his eponymous empire could be in danger of losing conservative support just one year after his passing. But if recent events are a harbinger of things to come, that’s at least a possibility. It all started last October, when BuzzFeed’s McKay Coppins penned a controversial piece, arguing the outlet was “plagued by an unusual degree of disorganization and rampant infighting…” The report might have been easily dismissed, had it not been soon revealed that Breitbart.com’s Dana Loesch was suing Breitbart.com

And now the last of them is gone. Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, and Pope John Paul II—three who won the Cold War and, it isn´t too much to say, saved the West (at least for a while!)—are no longer with us. Their examples remain. They knew what they believed but also knew they had to justify their beliefs, and that one could adjust prudently to circumstances without yielding on principle. They stood firm when in power, and they took risks to get there, challenging the conventional wisdom and the respective establishments of their nations or institutions.

Frustration is taking its toll in the liberals’ war against guns. President Obama, pushing his broad gun control agenda, said we should be ashamed if we’ve forgotten the Newtown shooting so soon. The New York Times opined that Obama is being shouted down by the “gun lobby,” even though he and Biden had been crisscrossing the country “…making a forceful case for a package of laws that would reduce gun violence.” That, of course, is the media narrative on gun control. For every issue there is a narrative: a set of assumptions and boundaries of thought

Mr. Samson has found what he says are perfect replicas of the French general´s gray overcoat, he has studied Napoleon´s native Corsican tongue and he has had himself crowned emperor of France, in a cathedral yet. Is it time to give up the fight against Obamacare? That’s a question some conservative health-care experts, pundits, and — more quietly — politicians are asking. In the first years after its passage, opponents had hoped that the Supreme Court would strike down the law or that a new president would sign its repeal before most of it took effect. But the Supreme Court decided to modify a few of its provisions instead of striking it down, and President Obama was reelected. Repeal is almost certainly off the table for four years. Obamacare will continue to be implemented.

As the bipartisan Gang of Eight works to complete a comprehensive immigration reform bill, there has been a growing consensus among Senate Republicans that the bill — so far seen by no one outside the Gang — should be the subject of multiple hearings and extended consideration inside the Senate Judiciary Committee. But on Sunday there were signs that consensus does not extend to the Republicans inside the Gang. Appearing on CBS, longtime immigration reform advocate and Gang member Sen. John McCain suggested the immigration issue is so familiar to lawmakers that multiple hearings will not be necessary.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”
