If true then Republicans are doomed. Just heard Rush´s fill in today talking about how Republicans should talk to "minorities" as adults and not pander to them. I seem to remember that Romney did just that to some "black organization" and was praised for talking to them as adult and not pandering to them. Didn´t work. I have no idea how Republicans should conduct a campaign anymore. I think it is just that the lunatics outnumber the relatively sane Republicans.

Let ALL the Bush Tax Cuts expire. That´s the only fair thing to do.

The Republicans should OK jacking up the taxes on people earning over one million, most of them voted for Obama anyway. When that does not do any good to alleviate the deficit, the liberal Democrats will be back demanding that middle class taxes be raised up. Only then will most people pay attention to what the liberal Democrats are really intent on doing.

The problem that all of these lily livered weasels don´t understand is that it´s not a revenue problem, it´s a spending problem. But the elite rulers in DC are too stupid to figure that out.

But is anyone surprised by this? Chambliss always was a squish. As I recall conseratives in GA pushed him over the finish line last time out of frustration with Obama´s election, not because they really trusted him.

If pushed all of the tax cuts expire and add a tax that the 47% can pay. If raising taxes is good for the nation imagine what raising taxes on everyone could do, using the dem logic.

Let the Democrats hang themselves. The GOP should make sure it has no fingerprints on what is passed so that they cannot be blamed for the failure.

Let´s just call the tax cuts what they are -- the Obama tax cut extensions (for everyone including the rich). Or even shorten it to call them the Obama tax cuts. After all, all of the fiscal chaos has been revoted and approved during the current administration. Will anyone in this administration take responsibility for anything but killing peole?

Since Saxby Chambliss made his anti-tax pledge twenty years ago, it´s been repeatedly proven that when governments raise their taxes their economies decline.

That´s because businesses tend to relocate from high-tax to low-tax jurisdictions in order to increase their profits.

If anyone should understand this situation it should be a Senator from a southern state like Georgia, whose economy has prospered for decades as businesses have moved in great numbers from high-tax northern states to lower-tax southern states.

How can Saxby Chambliss believe that a vote from him to raise taxes means he cares about his country, when raising taxes would cause American businesses to relocate to lower-tax countries, just as raising taxes in states like California, New York, etc., over the past decades has caused their businesses to relocate to lower-tax states like Georgia?

Unless Mr. Chambliss wants America to become more and more like the bankrupt, over-taxed, terminally declining California instead of a prosperous, low-taxed, growing state like Texas, he should renew his no-tax pledge.

How about this? Pick some number like 10%. (no higher). Everyone pays that much. Make a million pay 100,000. Make a dollar pay a dime. No deductions, no exemptions. Welfare is income.
Government will be required to stay within that amount of money. No debt ceiling, no borrowing, no cheating.
It wont happen. Being fiscally responsible takes away a lot of their power.

While Conservatives like to boast of this and that, they haven´t been able to achieve a large enough base to push their agenda like the Liberals have.

Democrats looked to defeat people like Mary Bono Mack, Dan Lungren and others in newly competitive districts after the census changed districts, and WON.

They didn´t worry that they Democrat wasn´t liberal, they looked to win, and gain a seat.

Raising tax rate on the top 2% won´t help the deficit, but it isn´t a fight to have today.
Expose the Democrats failure to produce a budget in the Senate, and let them deal with it.

BTW, the tax increase isn´t about more revenue. Obama said so flat out and directly. It´s about "fairness." And even more so, his power, and making the Republicans knuckle under.

#9: Sorry, but IMHO the Constitution´s not the problem, the politicians are. Obama ignores it, Congress exempts itself [insider trading, etc.], and so on. Crooked people are the problem.

#20, #22, #27: While too many were only watching the House, Senate, and White House, in many states, at many levels, and for many offices, a de facto third party was coming alive. In 2010, some 750 Democrats lost/ In 2012 and 2010, especially, Republicans/conservatives won. Enough in office yet? No. Battle won yet? No.

But do we really need to be reminded again not to let the best be the enemy of the good? Not to be like all-or-nothing Libertarian absolutists? Or cranky, self-declared, purer-than-Caesar´s-wife enpiqued "litmus conservatives"?

There is a third party. It´s [smartly] inside the Republican Party, where it can make use of existing infrastructure, contacts, and so on. That´s a smarter way, but we have to look away from DC to see it.

The Democratic Party may get enlarged soon as we conservatives give the GOP moderates a big shove for them to join the Democratic Party and have a supermajoriy. I´ve never wanted to be in a minority party that stands for something more.

If Chambliss cares more about his country, then he´d keep the pledge. The demonrats already have plans to spend 25 cents more than any nickel they collect. What a moron.
