Experts at intelligence agency GCHQ have asked for help in de-coding a message found attached to a pigeon leg, thought to date back to WWII. The dead bird was found in a chimney in Surrey a few weeks ago. But without more information, the code may never be cracked, according to the BBC´s security correspondent Gordon Corera. The code is as follows: AOAKN HVPKD FNFJW YIDDC RQXSR DJHFP GOVFN MIAPX PABUZ WYYNP CMPNW HJRZH NLXKG MEMKK ONOIB AKEEQ WAOTA RBQRH DJOFM TPZEH LKXGH RGGHT JRZCQ FNKTQ KLDTS FQIRW AOAKN 27 1525/6

The KEY to figuring it out may be the form used for the msg. They don´t show it completely in the video. It appears to we in English [or American]. The actual code is too short to give you enough for the computers. You must understand that there is a different code used for each letter of the msg. So you do need the code book. And military crypto labs are generally trash-less [everything gets burned, even candy wrappers]. The NSA would keep copies for a limited time and then burn.

A one time pad without the key (assuming the key was longer than the message--no repetition) will never be broken. All a supercomputer can do is give all possible solutions--a really, really, REALLY big number of solutions, most gibberish but a HUGE number of clear-text too.

for instance:

that dinner was lovely
we will attack at dawn
who let the dogs out??

The modern military organization needs abilities beyond those of a submariner or a pilot. There are reasons for the existence of the No Such Agency in Fort Meade. This account is one reminder.

The Bay Area Toll Authority spent $9.4 million to build a temporary entrance so the Bay Bridge´s bike path could be ready when the new eastern span opened to traffic in September. And now - after less than seven months - the half-mile-long connector is being torn down to make way for a new, permanent gateway. That puts the cost to provide temporary bike and pedestrian access to the bridge at about $47,000 a day.

Everyone knew there would be some gun owners flouting the law that legislators hurriedly passed last April, requiring residents to register all military-style rifles with state police by Dec. 31. But few thought the figures would be this bad. That 50,000 figure could be as little as 15 percent of the rifles classified as assault weapons owned by Connecticut residents, according to estimates by people in the industry, including the Newtown-based National Shooting Sports Foundation. No one has anything close to definitive figures, but the most conservative estimates place the number of unregistered assault weapons well above 50,000, and perhaps

The journalists at ABC News offered yet another high profile experiment to terrify the parents of America into not owning guns. In an hour-long special on Friday night, Diane Sawyer and David Muir hid pink guns at the playground of an elementary school in an effort to see if young girls would play with them. Unsurprisingly, the young children did. The Young Guns program also included the obvious revelation that firearms shouldn´t be concealed in backpacks and with candy. Diane Sawyer narrated, "For more than a decade, there has been a powder pink gun on the market." Referencing the location of

That´s when they discovered the chilly hazards of dependence on the individual health insurance market. As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. When Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis a little more than a year ago, the first thing that struck those who knew him well was his unexpected, beatific smile. “In Argentina, he didn’t smile like that,” Sergio Rubin, the pope’s biographer, said this week at a conference sponsored by the Ethics and Public Policy Center. “That was the big surprise.” Since then, the pope has mostly kept on smiling — in homilies, in audiences, in meetings with the homeless and the poor. Usually the type of Republicans MSNBC hosts invite on their shows are either craven RINO types who can be depended upon to trash talk fellow Republicans, or the more inarticulate, dimmer bulbs in the party who fail to communicate conservative positions effectively. MSNBC host Chris Hayes had an entirely different type of animal on his hands with PA Americans For Prosperity Director, Jennifer Stefano. In fact, he´s probably still licking his wounds after the nasty confrontation he had with her, Wednesday night in a debate over the latest ObamaCare delay. (She´s an atheist with a fondness for Ricky Gervais.) "I would personally like to castrate every Male Conservative Christian so that they have NO reproductive rights," she wrote on Twitter, using the hashtag "#HobbyLobby." She certainly knows how to draw attention to herself. Newby said that’s not all. She also expressed her hatred of Christians in a tweet calling conservative Christians "******bags," claiming they are "really trying" her patience.
