| The picketing of a few Walmart stores is more about political theater than a genuine attempt to organize workers at any of the particular locales on the receiving end of today´s stunt. As American unions have devolved from workers´ representatives to political tools of the left, labor bosses like AFL-CIO head Richard Trumka focus their energies on advancing the leftists´ narrative. The great project of the left is to replace the market as a means of economic management with government. Government worker unions now dominate the movement, and accordingly, the remaining private sector union workers are being betrayed

This morning on FNC there was a reporter out at a Walmart that had 100 or so pickets who had been bussed in for the protest.
The reporter attempted to ask several of the picketers why they were there and the response he got was "talk to the guy in the green shirt."
The guy in the green shirt wasn´t responsive at all. He probably didn´t know either.
Unions are the modern slave masters.

Most Wal Mart employees are happy to have their job. They are generally friendly and seem cheerful enough. Those employees that are not happy with their job should look elsewhere for employment.
No one is entitled to a standard of living they would like to have. The answer is to learn something new or get some education.

I have two daughters who have worked for Walmart while they were students. One has graduated and the other just got hired on for temporary and hopes to be able to stay on after the holidays.
Walmart is very good about working with employees who have a school schedule and they value people who actually show up to work. On the day my daughter was hired, there were at least another 20 new hires and another 10 not only didn´t bother to show, but didn´t call and let anyone know they weren´t coming.
That said, the previous poster is correct...most Walmart jobs are not meant to be a living wage. They are meant for the MANY people who want part-time work to SUPPLEMENT their income. There are positions within the company for those who want to stay, but they take time and work to get them....as they should.
If Walmart ever unionizes, I won´t shop there. There merchandise is fine for low prices, but there are a lot of things in there I wouldn´t buy if they cost more.

Isn´t Walmart on Private Property? Isn´t their Parking Lot Private Property? If it is, WHY in the world would they allow protesters to picket on their property, heckling their customers and causing some to even leave or stay away? I would have them arrested for trespassing!

Key words, "protestors bussed in´, which means, it isn´t unhappy employees protesting, it is the power hungry, money grubbing union slugs who are trying to take a portion of the employees wages.

It´s one thing for President Obama to be cocky and overstate his prowess at governing. People are used to politicians grabbing credit, and besides, you can always rationalize when it comes to explaining why things didn´t quite work out as you claimed they would - "the sequester ate my recovery" being the latest successful-enough example. But sports is something else. The basketball either goes through the hoop or it doesn´t. That´s why President Obama´s history of braggadocio regarding his prowess at hoops is having a potent effect on his overall public image, especially with those who are favorably inclined to him.

Over at Salon, Chris Stedman, the Assistant Humanist Chaplain and the Values in Action Coordinator for the Humanist Community at Harvard, has published a vicious piece attacking me for calling attention to the persecution of gays under Islamic law. This comes just days after San Francisco´s Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution condemning my ads standing up for gays. Stedman and the transgender head of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, Theresa Sparks, could form a new organization: Gays for Sharia.

During his two day flurry of fundraising in Northern California, the President of the United States took it upon himself (and allow to be released to the public - not all of his fundraising comments make it to the masses) to praise the attractiveness of Kamala Harris, California Attorney General (snip) The remark, predictably, generated a little of what Allahpundit called a ´Blue on blue food fight." I suspect that was the intention. The president´s image as a manly man took a beating when he missed 20 of 22 basketball shots, all recorded on video.

The CEO of Starbucks basically told a shareholder that if the shareholder believes in traditional marriage he should dump his Starbucks stock. Historically the job of the CEO has been to make money and increase shareholder value. It would seem telling people who don´t share the CEO´s personal beliefs, whether it´s gay marriage or abortion, to dump the companies stock is not a pro-shareholder action. This is another example of the liberal belief that everything belongs to liberals because they´re just so darn much smarter than the rest of us

The Great State of Indiana is about to test statewide school choice on a meaningful scale. In the girl section of the Wall Street Journal last weekend Matt Ridley had an article on nice vs. nasty, cooperation vs. competition. Researchers have found, he writes, that families that stay together cooperate better than families that are far apart. This is not the first work to find mathematical evidence that there are conditions under which cooperative behavior drives out selfish behavior... So long as there is little geographic mobility, clusters of networked kin and friends develop, putting an advantage on being nice. Who knew?

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Newtown killer Adam Lanza may have launched his murder spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School as an “act of revenge,” the Daily News has learned. A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school.
