Egypt’s Morsy Grants Himself Far-Reaching Powers

| Cairo - Egypt’s president on Thursday issued constitutional amendments granting himself far-reaching powers and ordering the retrial of leaders of Hosni Mubarak’s regime for the killing of protesters in last year’s uprising. Mohammed Morsy decreed immunity for the panel drafting a new constitution from any possible court decisions to dissolve it. (Snip) The Egyptian leader also decreed that all decisions he has made since taking office in June and until a new constitution is adopted are not subject to appeal in court or by any other authority, a move that places Morsy above oversight of any kind.

Comments: I can just see 0bama, with a turkey leg in his left hand, shake it at Valerie Jarrett and ask why he can´t do the same thing. No wonder the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood needs our Billion dollar humanitarian aid, to buy weapons to stifle opposition forever. [What deal did you make with the terrorist, Hillary?]

It´s going to be difficult for Obama to accomplish his goal of a middle-east wide, one government caliphate with a singular goal of destroying Israel if his tin horn brotherhood leaders continue to self-appoint themselves as dictators.

Even if Morsi is doing this for seemingly good reasons, it´s still wrong in my view. While I think leadership of the benevolent dictatorial kind can lead to good things, the problem is that they don´t know where to stop. The benevolent then become malevolent as power goes to their heads. It´s basically just a skip from democracy to dictatorship.

This is really an example of how the big left and big islam work hand and glove. This cease fire was done with US tax dollars being spread around and magically Morsi emerges as the broker of the deal, which he then flips as appointing himself as supreme leader of Egypt.
Egypt is inching closer to being a hardcore Sharia compliant country which has the ultimate goal of destroying Israel. Morsi is still having a problem co-opting Egypt´s military and when he accomplishes that, they´ll be on Israel´s border fighting along with Hamas. To me,Mubarak had a perfect right to defend his country against mob rule taking over and his trial will be Kabuki theater. There´s a big difference between peaceful protests than destroying public and private property. If mob rule is allowed to attack everything without repercussions, the rule of law falls flat on it´s face.
A big part of Sharia is suppressing the rights and liberties of women. Islamists rue the idea of their women becoming westernized.
The big left which is supposed to be the champions of women, couldn´t care less about arab women being brutalized.
Women in Afghanistan have made tremendous strides since Bush invaded and they´re scared to death about American troops leaving but that won´t stop Obama on iota who only cares about pleasing the anti-war left.

Savar, Bangladesh - Bangladesh police on Sunday arrested the owner of a garment factory block that collapsed last week killing more than 375 people as hopes faded for survivors at the disaster site. Property tycoon Sohel Rana was arrested as he attempted to flee to India and will face charges over the ruined eight-storey Rana Plaza, which like many other structures around the capital Dhaka violated the building code. Sweetwater - About a year ago, talk began circulating in this West Texas town about a huge oil-producing formation called the Cline Shale, east of the traditional drilling areas around Midland. Then the oilmen and their rigs arrived. Now homes and hotels are sprouting, “help wanted” signs have multiplied, and a major drilling company has cleared land to build an office and equipment yard. (Snip) The Cline Shale, thousands of feet underground in a roughly 10-county swath, is just one of many little-tapped shale formations in Texas and across the nation, geologists say.

America, the golden door, had already welcomed two of his brothers when Anzor Tsarnaev crossed the ocean with his family in 2002. Anzor’s brother Ruslan, who had immigrated just a few years earlier, already had a law degree and was on his way to an executive job and a six-figure salary. And at first, Anzor, his wife, Zubeidat, and their two sons, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar, seemed as energetic and brimming with initiative as their relatives had been. Anzor, a mechanic, fixed up cars. His wife turned a cut-rate apartment in affluent Cambridge into an improvised salon,

The mayhem in Boston the week of April 15 was a reminder of how an American city can be paralyzed by a homemade bomb. The same kinds of improvised explosive devices that menaced U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan can easily be deployed by freelance terrorists or madmen trying to send a message, incite panic or just create a media spectacle. Kabul, Afghanistan - It is always hard to gauge what diplomats really think unless one of their cables ends up on WikiLeaks, but every once in a while, the barriers fall and a bit of truth slips into public view. (Snip) So what did he say? That the Afghan project is on thin ice and that, collectively, the West was responsible for a chunk of what went wrong, though much of the rest the Afghans were responsible for. That the West had done a good job of fighting terrorism, but that most of that was done on Pakistani soil, not on the Afghan side of the border. And that without fundamental changes

North Korea plans to begin a trial against a U.S. citizen detained there last year, state media said Saturday, complicating tense relations between the two nations. Pae Jun Ho entered North Korea as a tourist on November 3, according to the Korean Central News Agency. After his detention, evidence revealed he had committed an unspecified crime against the country, the news agency said. The agency said he confessed to the alleged offense, but did not say what it was. "He will soon be taken to the Supreme Court of the DPRK to face judgment," the news agency said,

Hard-fought gains in Afghanistan over the last decade are at risk of being squandered – unless immediate action is taken to determine the fate of tens of billions of dollars in questionable reconstruction projects, the chief of the Afghan audit agency said. In an exclusive interview with The Fiscal Times, John F. Sopko, Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, said that the Pentagon, aid agencies and the State Department must quickly evaluate these projects to determine whether the billions being spent in Afghanistan right now will yield the desired results or not.

President Obama´s weekly remarks: Hi, everybody. Our top priority as a nation must be growing the economy, creating good jobs, and rebuilding opportunity for the middle class. But two months ago, Congress allowed a series of automatic budget cuts to fall across the federal government that would do the opposite. In Washington-speak, these cuts were called the “sequester.” It was a bad idea then. And as the country saw this week, it’s a bad idea now. Because of these reckless cuts, there are parents whose kids just got kicked out of Head Start programs scrambling for a solution.

Rep. Bill Shuster gives the Republican Party Weekly Remarks: Hello, I’m Congressman Bill Shuster, and I serve as chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. This week, many Americans had their flights delayed or cancelled because of the way in which the Obama administration chose to implement the president’s automatic sequestration cuts. Travelers were fed up, and rightly so. Sequestration is bad policy — the wrong way to reduce the deficit. That’s why House Republicans have voted twice to replace these automatic cuts with smarter ones.

Coming years late to the story, The New York Times finally took a look at the Pigford scandal that Andrew Breitbart, Lee Stranahan and the Breitbart team exposed starting in 2010. At last the story is making an appearance across the media. On Friday morning, April 26, the Times published a long piece titled, "U.S. Opens Spigot After Farmers Claim Discrimination," in which Andrew Breitbart and Congressman Steve King were credited for early criticism of the government´s corruption in the scandal. It should be remembered that the left-wing Media Matters for America scoffed at Andrew Breitbart,

About 500 locks on cell doors simultaneously opened inside Montgomery County’s main jail early Saturday morning, prompting officials to declare a security emergency that included posting about 20 police cars along the perimeter of the facility near Clarksburg. No inmates tried to escape and the locks were reset, said Arthur Wallenstein, director of the county’s Department of Correction and Rehabilitation. Wallenstein said the cell door locks also disengaged on Tuesday before being reset. “It’s definitely a problem,” he said. “We must find the source of it.” County maintenance workers and outside contractors

The unfailing reverence on the American right for Ronald Reagan is understandable. He was the only exemplar of modern conservatism to win the White House, and unlike liberal icons such as Roosevelt or Johnson or Obama, he presided over an economic boom and became beloved by voters not normally drawn to his party. No wonder that Reagan, long before his death in 2004, attained mythical status in the conservative movement and the Republican Party. But that myth has become a burden for the modern GOP. It has bound Reagan’s followers on the right to policies and positions that were

The new logo for the University of Connecticut’s sports teams is a terrifying husky dog that calls to mind images of sexual assault, says one student. The new logo was unveiled last week, receiving mixed-to-negative reviews from UConn fans who preferred the older, cuter husky dog. But one student went much further, criticizing the new, meaner logo for being a pro-rape symbol. In an open letter to UC President Susan Herbst, self-described feminist student Carolyn Luby wrote that the redesigned team logo will intimidate women and empower rape culture. UConn basketball coach Geno Auriemma said the logo

During an April 24 address to the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), Attorney General Eric Holder told the crowd that “creating a pathway to earned citizenship” is a critical element of any comprehensive immigration reform plan. He said that establishing legal status for the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants is a “matter of civil and human rights.” “Creating a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million unauthorized immigrants in this country is essential,” Holder said to applause. “The way we treat our friends and neighbors who are undocumented by creating a mechanism for

Unlike you, federal government officials are immune from charges of fraud. The executive branch, vested with all of the government’s prosecutorial authority and discretion, is not going to investigate its own operatives for carrying out its own mendacious policies. That is the story of last week’s Boston Marathon bombing and the frantic efforts of the bombers, the brothers Tsarnaev, to evade capture, shoot it out with police (two of whom they killed), and — we’re now told — detonate more bombs in Times Square. The Times Square non-attack is quite interesting.

Obama´s weekly address comes after Congress on Friday overwhelming approved a bill putting furloughed air traffic controllers back on the job, thus undoing one of the most high-profile effects of the so-called sequestration, the $85 billion in automatic budget cuts that took effect March 1 and hit federal spending across the board. The Democrats proposed sequestration as part of a package to secure an increase in the debt ceiling, but they never expected it to go into effect. When it did, they felt double-crossed, apparently because they thought Republicans owed it to them to fold like a cheap suit, as usual. When the Republicans figured out that sticking with the sequester was a pretty good outcome–it represented a modest, but real, restraint on federal spending, which is what Republicans always say they want–the Democrats went to Plan B. It’s a strategy they have often used before: cut back

WASHINGTON — Russian authorities secretly recorded a telephone conversation in 2011 in which one of the Boston bombing suspects vaguely discussed jihad with his mother, officials said Saturday, days after the U.S. government finally received details about the call. In another conversation, the mother of now-dead bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was recorded talking to someone in southern Russia who is under FBI investigation in an unrelated case, officials said. The conversations are significant because, had they been revealed earlier, they might have been enough evidence for the FBI to initiate a more thorough investigation of the Tsarnaev family. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama vowed Friday to fight with Planned Parenthood against what he said were efforts across the country to turn women´s health back to the 1950s. Obama´s comments were the first to be delivered by a sitting president before the abortion-rights group. He lauded the group´s nearly 100 years of service to women, providing cancer screenings, contraceptives and other health services.
