‘Father Barack Obama‘ mocked the Sign of the Cross at the White House yesterday. It was an open mockery of the Christian prayer that is accompanied by the immortal words used by peasants and kings over the centuries: “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit”. Obama, who is right-handed, made the sign of the cross with his left hand, which out of respect for the centuries-long Christian practice, no one ever does. Obama’s left-handed sign of the cross was made over a gobbling turkey during the National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation Ceremony,
Comments: While 0bama is not a true Christian, his outright public blasphemy of a Catholic symbol will not sit well with God for our Nation. Remember, as our elected leader, 0bama may incite the wrath of God on US like a nuclear explosion. Whoever is in the blast zone is effected.
Makes you wonder what Christmas "surprise´´ he has for US true believers? BTW, don´t think that 0bama mentioned God in Thanksgiving "message" today.
Please..."Catholics" love this guy! He provides "free stuff" and that makes them feel more Catholic because they voted for him. As a Catholic, I say you can´t take them seriously...it´s all Nunsense...and Sandra Fluke.
Wait a minute... What makes anyone think obama has the first clue about his actions?
I saw the video of our "Home Boy" Prez pardoning those turkeys. No, he didn´t pardon Rice and Petraeus, he pardoned real turkeys.
In the video he went to bless the turkeys, pretending he was The Pope. Unfortunately, half-way through the blessing he had to look to his left to see how to finish the blessing. He could not even pretend to be The Pope without "off-screen" instructions.
He is the most clueless buffoon to ever be President of the USA, if you watch his actions.
Quite a few non-Catholics that I know use their left hands to make the sign of the Cross and I know for a fact that they aren´t Muslim. I don´t like him any better than any one else here, but I refuse to give him so much importance in my life. He´s just an ignorant fool and his daughters still think he´s funny. Mrs. Cow
The pardon for the turkey didn´t last long. The turkey got sick immediately after being around obama and his off-springs and it is reported the turkey had to be euthanized. One wonders what type of illness he might be the "carrier". This definitely proves: His Word or Promises Don´t Carry any Substance. Always Subject to Change!
What a fool! Obama may think himself above his fellow men but if you mock THE creator you are on very shaky ground...wonder if he ever heard of inoperable brain cancers or a paralizing stroke that leaves you alive but totally immoble...GOD has many ways to deal with those who ignore HIS first Commandment...
The right hand left hand thing doesn´t bother me, it´s just the fact that he used a comical ceremony to express his atheistic contempt for the Catholic faith. You can just imagine what he says in private.
I´ve been saying this since the beginning. The man is the Anti-Christ, the false Anti-Christ came first, Osama bin Laden, a lot of people thought he was the Anti-Christ, but as it is to be it turns out he was the false one followed by the REAL DEAL. I am not a hyper Christian or anything like that, but I am firm in my beliefs and this is one of them. It usually falls on deaf ears.
the ´´euthanized´´ turkey was last year´s - no one would say where he ended up, I´d bet on a platter.
I saw the vid of the presidential turkey pardon. When he made the sign of the cross over the birds I waited a few beats for lightning. At first I wanted to believe he was just ignorant. Then reality took my brain back under control and I realized that he´s mocking. Without a doubt...
Being left handed is irrelevant. One NEVER makes the sign of the cross w one´s left. Biblical admonitions about the right hand of God and the sign of sonship and blessedness ( ring olaced on right hand of orodigal son ) etc are the basis for this. Ø mocks Orthodox and Catholic traditins. "Be ye not deceived , for the Lord God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. ". He who has big jug ears to hear, let him hear. Or choose not to. It s all up to the Ø.
This Romney-voting Catholic is not offended by this. Barry´s just stupid. I´m more offended by his deliberate mockery of faith-based institutions being forced by Obamacare to provide abortion and contraceptives in their insurance policies.
The sad reality is that in any given Mass you can find a poorly catecheted young adult who makes the sign of the cross with his left hand. And no one corrects him.
#18: Yes, he´s left handed and totally ignorant. And I agree with you with one question.
The question is: why did he even bother to do a sign of the cross? Is that part of the ritual of the pardon? I am Episcopalian but was raised in different protestant denominations. I still have a hard time remembering to make the sign in church. Why did he make a sign that has nothing to do with the occasion or the denomination he practices? I still think it was a form of mockery, but not the left-handed part. That was just a physical inclination.
Being left-handed and Catholic, I´ve never had any trouble using my right hand to make the Sign of the Cross. He´s just a doorknob, he thinks he was being funny. His choom buddies were probably all ROFL.
C´mon folks. this is silly being offended or even mentioning this as a remarkable event. Not everything obama does needs to be scrutinized and spun negatively - makes you look petty, bitter and full of hate and reflects on me and the GOP in general.
I´m not offended by it. Obama was trying to be funny like an awkward adolescent. Whenever he tries to be funny he always ends up looking like an idiot. So the USA is going to have this perpetual adolescent as president for another four years. Oh, how I wish Romney had won! It would have been so nice to have an adult as president in January!
woke up to realize that I am bourgeois neither republican nor democrat. Those parties have wasted our treasure. Cashflow, Goods and services at competitive rates are my heartfelt belief. The communist is out to wipe us from the earth. I want believe that Obama isn´t one of those but a friend like Clinton was, as Eisenhower, Kennedy and Reagan were. Belief in Bush has been to our detriment. Why, George? Why? Disaster looms but I pray constantly for Divine aid. No more war or welfare. We want to enjoy the fruits of our labors, again.
The president has pardon power, enshrined in the U.S. constitution. That power is not religiously related. making the sign of the cross is offensive under those circumstances with the turkeys - something a h.s. punk would do. And - I was raised a Catholic, and I am left handed. And no one makes the sign of the cross with the left hand, unless they do not have a right hand.
President Zero likes to do that subtle mocking of Christianity. His muslim upbringing is the source of that mocking.
He wasn´t making the sign of the cross. He was giving a blessing to the turkey. In the traditional sign of the cross, I touch my forehead with my right hand (for The Father), my heart (for The Son) and myself -- both shoulders for the Holy Spirit and to complete the cross. I´ve never seen anyone but a priest or deacon give the blessing to someone or something else. Makes no sense to me (a Catholic who can´t stand the sight of him). BTW, we have lots of lots of CINO´s in the Catholic faith. And lots of cafeteria Catholics too. A true practicing Catholic could never vote for him.
He makes the sign of the cross over the turkey and it gets so sick it has to be put down? I think God or his angels are trying to tell us something in these little signs as I do not believe in coincedence. The presidential seal fell off the podium, the rodent ran across in front of the podium, a fly landed on his face during an interview, these are ones that come to mind, and now the turkey is dead after a blessing. Beezelbub.
46, Eastern Orthodox make e sign of the cross e original way. We predate the roman church by 1000 years. Roman church changed the form of making the cross to left to Ruth from original right shoulder to left. And we have never stopped holding thumb and first two fingers together to symbolize the Holy Trinity, w last 2 fingers down for the Divine and human Natures of Christ. Why did Romans change to open hand and left to right ? May seem silly to some, but we have kept the faith unchanged for 2000 years. Dogma and practice. Christ is timeless for Orthodox Christians and His message is even more relevant and needed today than ever before Changing the liturgy and dogma to suit modern times for our convenience is what has led to those of millions of adherents.
To make the sign of the Cross "humorously" IS mocking. There was no reason for a nonreligious person to "bless" the turkey; the gesture is totally inappropriate and could only be intended to mock, and using the left hand only made it more so. It´s just more evidence of his juvenile uncouthness, like giving people the finger. He´s a disgrace to the office of President.
After dodging questions for months about video evidence said to show him using drugs, Mayor Rob Ford of Toronto stunned constituents and his own staff on Tuesday by telling a scrum of reporters, “Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine.” Video of Mr. Ford’s admission, during an impromptu news conference, showed him asking reporters to repeat the question they first raised in May, when journalists for Gawker and The Toronto Star described seeing video that appeared to show the mayor using drugs. When one reporter complied, asking, “Do you smoke crack cocaine?” the mayor admitted that he had done
Washington - A new book covering the 2012 presidential campaign uncovers a series of scathing remarks from political figures, but one alleged comment has stirred controversy around President Barack Obama and his administration’s use of targeted drone strikes. Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s book “Double Down: Game Change 2012” notes President Obama commenting on drone strikes, reportedly telling his aides that he’s “really good at killing people.” The quote from the book was first reported in Peter Hamby’s review in the Washington Post.
An emerging theme from Democrats struggling to explain the Obamacare fiasco is that stubborn Republican opposition has hobbled the administration´s efforts to implement President Obama´s complex national health care scheme. If you want the particulars, just glance at "The Obamacare sabotage campaign" by Politico´s Todd Purdum. But a memo revealed in a new Washington Post examination of the rollout shows the administration was already on a disastrous path in May 2010, just two months after Obamacare was signed into law -- and six months before Republicans won control of the House
Some inventions address needs that everyone has and go on to change the world. The Internet serves our constant craving for information; the internal combustion engine let anyone efficiently do mechanical work with little physical effort; antibiotics significantly reduced mortality rates around the world. Then there are the inventions that are the result of someone asking, "Hmm, I wonder if that would be a good idea?" From a "onesie" that lets your baby mop your floors to a mic-shaped sponge for rocking out in the shower, these are the inventions that are more noteworthy
"All we´ve been hearing the last three years is if you like your policy you can keep it.... I´m infuriated because I was lied to," one woman told this newspaper, as part of a story on how some middle-class Californians have been stunned to learn the real costs of Obamacare. And that lie looks like the biggest lie about domestic policy ever uttered by a U.S. president. The most famous presidential lies have to do with misconduct (Richard Nixon´s "I am not a crook" or Bill Clinton´s "I did not have sexual relations") or war. Woodrow Wilson campaigned on the slogan "He kept us out of war" and then plunged
The usual scenario involves suspicious glances, inattentive clerks or rude service — not handcuffs. Yet when a black teen said he was wrongly jailed after buying a $350 belt at a Manhattan luxury store, it struck a nerve in African-Americans accustomed to finding that their money is not necessarily as good as everyone else´s. Shopping while black, they say, can be a humiliating experience. Much attention has been paid to the issue over the years — Oprah Winfrey complained that a Swiss clerk did not think she could afford a $38,000 handbag, and even President Barack Obama has said he was once followed in
’m going to ruin sea otters for you. Or at least I’m going to tarnish their reputation as some of the most charming little beasties in the seas. For as cute as they are while intertwining paws at an aquarium, frolicking among the wafting fronds of California kelp forests, or smashing sea urchins open with stones, some sea otters have developed the disturbing habit of humping and drowning baby seals. When I first heard about the behavior from a marine biologist friend of mine, I didn’t quite believe sea otters could be so diabolical. Maybe the bad behavior was just a rumor. But no, the strange sea otter
President Obama repeatedly assured Americans that after the Affordable Care Act became law, people who liked their health insurance would be able to keep it. But millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, say experts, and the Obama administration has known that for at least three years. Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC News that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next
The White House response on Monday to the expanding disclosures of American spying on foreign leaders, their governments and millions of their citizens was a pathetic mix of unsatisfying assurances about reviews under way, platitudes about the need for security in an insecure age, and the odd defense that the president didn’t know that American spies had tapped the German chancellor’s cellphone for 10 years. Is it really better for us to think that things have gone so far with the post-9/11 idea that any spying that can be done should be done and that nobody thought to inform President Obama about tapping
Syrian state TV says the head of the al-Qaeda linked al-Nusra Front, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, has been killed in western Syria. Details are unclear but the report said he had been killed in the coastal province of Latakia. There has been no independent verification of the claim. The group has emerged as one of the most powerful rebel groups since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011. It first announced its existence in a video in January 2012 and has said it was behind many of the suicide bombings that have rocked the country. The group is believed to have led
Sen. Ted Cruz’s sense of humor is earning him some ill will from near and far. A Nigerian-American organization wants the Texas Republican to apologize for comments he made Monday about the problems with the Affordable Care Act website. “You may have noticed that all the Nigerian email scammers have become a lot less active lately,” Cruz said at a gathering with supporters in Houston, according to the Houston Chronicle. “They all have been hired to run the Obamacare website,” he joked. But the Christian Association of Nigerian-Americans, also known as CANAN,
Beijing - A court in eastern China has rejected an appeal by the ousted Chinese leader Bo Xilai and upheld his life sentence for bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power. Bo, the 64-year-old former Communist party head of the south-western metropolis of Chongqing, was once known for his charisma, elaborate anti-crime campaigns, and neo-Maoist politics. (Snip) Last month, the Jinan intermediate people´s court in thecoastal Shandong province sentenced Bo to life in prison for accepting £2.1m in bribes, embezzling more than £500,000, and abusing his position by blocking an investigation
WASHINGTON — President Obama was seething. Two weeks after the disastrous launch of HealthCare.gov, Mr. Obama gathered his senior staff members in the Oval Office for what one aide recalled as an “unsparing” dressing-down. The public accepts that technology sometimes fails, the president said, but he had personally trumpeted that HealthCare.gov would be ready on Oct. 1, and it wasn’t. “If I had known,” Mr. Obama said, according to the aide, “we could have delayed the website.” Mr. Obama’s anger, described by a White House that has repeatedly sought to show that the president was
President Obama likes to say he will never again be running for office, but every Democrat knows he will be on the ballot figuratively in 2014, and 2016, as well. Right now they are rightly nervous about that prospect. A month ago, political Washington was transfixed by the errors committed by congressional Republicans. Those missteps led to a partial shutdown of the government, which in turn has brought approval of the GOP to record lows in many public opinion surveys. Nothing about that has changed. But today, it’s Obama in the spotlight. A president famous for his unflappability, he is
McAllen, Tex. — They were already running late for a doctor’s appointment, but first the Salas family hurried into their kitchen for another breakfast paid for by the federal government. The 4-year-old grabbed a bag of cheddar-flavored potato chips and a granola bar. The 9-year-old filled a bowl with sugary cereal and then gulped down chocolate milk. Their mother, Blanca, arrived at the refrigerator and reached into the drawer where she stored the insulin needed to treat her diabetes. She filled a needle with fluid and injected it into her stomach with a practiced jab. “Let’s go,” she told the children,
Marathon talks on a deal to temporarily curb Iran´s nuclear program have broken down after a negotiations between foreign ministers ran into trouble late last night.[Snip] U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and foreign ministers of six other delegations conferred with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a late-night session which broke up after midnight. The French foreign minister, Laurent Fabius, told France Inter radio yesterday that Paris would not accept a ´sucker´s deal´. They complained the text which was drafted as part of the agreement had been presented a ´fait accompli´ and did not want to be forced
Jim Capretta saw the Obamacare debacle coming when it was months away. On July 5, the Obama administration released a 600 page regulation announcing a one-year delay in part of Obamacare’s implementation. States would not have to check the income of people applying for subsidies, according to the administration’s guidance. The administration simply would not be ready in time. “This announcement is another indicator—as if we needed one—of the complete fiasco that is Obamacare implementation,” Capretta wrote the following Monday for the Weekly Standard. It wasn’t the first delay, as a few days earlier the administration had let all big businesses off the
Don’t count Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus among those who believe comprehensive immigration reform is dead this Congress. Despite exasperation among reform advocates that the House has refused to vote on any major immigration bill — particularly the Senate-passed legislation — Priebus said that his “gut” feeling is that the House will indeed pass an immigration overhaul in the next 14 months. “Something significant is going to happen because obviously mass deportation is not an option. I don’t think doing nothing is an option. And I believe most people would agree that something significant needs to take place. Now what that
In their new book ”Who’s Bigger: Where Historical Figures Really Rank,” computer scientist Steven Skiena and former Google engineer Charles B. Ward rank the 100 most significant people in world history using an algorithm they created. What goes into the algorithm? It’s complicated. If you really want to know the math behind it, read the book. Or you can learn a little about it here. But click below to see who makes the top 100 — then let us know who the list should and should not have been included in the comment section.
Sheilah Johnson was a building inspector for the city for 28 years, a college graduate who passed up jobs that paid more because a city job offered stability and the promise of a good pension. But the city´s recent plunge into bankruptcy — overseen by an outside emergency manager answerable to the state government, not the citizens of Detroit — makes her wonder whether she and other African American residents of the impoverished city will be able to stop Wall Street creditors from seizing what´s left of a municipal treasury they paid into for most of their lives. "When my
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Before Ted Cruz burst on the national political scene, there was Sarah Palin. After Ted Cruz, is there still much of a place for her? Sarah Palin, 49, is the original hero of the Tea Party, rallier of the right wing and basher of Barack Obama. But it has been five years since she gained a place in the history books as John McCain´s surprise choice of running mate on the Republican presidential ticket. Four years since she unexpectedly resigned as Alaska governor before her term was up. Two years since she bypassed the chance to jump into the
Jeff Fager, the CBS News chairman and executive producer of “60 Minutes,” has said that his team spent “more than a year” reporting the story about the attack on Benghazi that aired on Oct. 27.Yet it wasn’t until Thursday night that they learned first-hand what their principal source, a security contractor named Dylan Davies, had told the Federal Bureau of Investigation about the attack. In conversations with POLITICO, sources familiar with “60 Minutes” reporting said that it was only on Thursday night that “60 Minutes” obtained the official account of events that Davies had given to FBI officials after the
“If I don’t have sex every day, I get a headache,” John F. Kennedy would remark to anyone who would listen, from British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan to a lowly senatorial aide. Even in the pantheon of sexual narcissists drawn to politics, Kennedy’s obsessive conquesting remains the gold standard for bad behavior. Here, a gallery of some (but almost certainly not all) of his most notable trysts. Marlene Dietrich, ActressThe German actress, a longtime friend and lover of JFK’s father, Joe, accepted an invitation from the president to have drinks at the White House in September of 1963 — when
President Barack Obama’s “most persistent distraction” when he launched his re-election campaign in April 2011 was not the economy, the Tea Party movement, the GOP presidential primary field, the unpopularity of Obamacare, or even the soon-to-be-launched mission to take out Osama bin laden. No, the most pressing issue for the president was the fact that real estate mogul Donald Trump had been challenging him over his birth certificate, according to the new book Double Down: Game Change 2012. “[T]he most persistent distraction Obama was facing personified by Donald Trump, the real estate billionaire and reality show ringmaster who was flirting
