Jesse Jackson Jr.’s resignation from the House could cost Illinois taxpayers more than $5.1 million, according to the state elections board. Jackson, Jr. offered his resignation today to House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. Jackson has been absent from the Capitol for months while undergoing treatment for bipolar disorder at the Mayo Clinic. In addition, his use of campaign funds is being investigated by federal authorities. Looking at two special House elections held in Illinois in recent years — those to replace GOP House speaker Denny Hastert and Democratic congressman Rahm Emanuel

He took his last several paychecks under fraudulent circumstances. That should be paidback, or seized if necessary.

Future benefits should be considered forfeit via that criminal fraud.

This isn´t complicated.

The "problem" is it requires people having the courage to do what´s right.

I seriously doubt that JJJ has clinical bipolar disorder. What he really has is entitlement dysfunction disorder. This is what you get when you see your entitlements falling off a cliff one by one.

This guy held a fundraiser to buy Obama´s old seat and raised a million bucks or there about. There´s no reason to have that pile of cash just sitting there when the ole homestead could use some fixing up. It doesn´t matter if he knew the law while doing this, his name and color would get him off the hook.

The problem is him having to give up easy money, alcohol, maybe drugs and don´t forget white women. That´s a lot to ask of anybody to give up.

Maybe the Mayo clinic has massage services now.

In a floor speech delivered in the US House early last year, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (I-IL), said we need to “add to” the Constitution these “new rights”, ones that he claims will create jobs and bring sweetness and light to every American…Right to a decent home; Right to medical care; Right to a decent education;Right of every student to an iPod and a laptop.

According to the “honorable” representative, the only thing that can “touch” the underprivileged and change their lives is the Constitution…if it can be “added to”. Check out http://charlestonteaparty.org/the-nut-doesnt-fall-far-from-the-tree/

These mind-boggling images capture the scale of soaring apartment blocks in one of the world´s most densely populated areas; Hong Kong. The result is the soaring high-rise buildings captured to incredible effect by German photographer Michael Wolf in his project Architecture of Density.

House Republican leaders on Wednesday criticized President Obama for conditioning the entitlement reforms in his budget on GOP support for higher taxes. While they said Obama “deserves some credit” for including entitlement reforms in his spending blueprint, they said the president shouldn’t hold the plan “hostage” in the debate over tax revenues. “While the president has backtracked on some of his entitlement reforms that were in conversations that we had a year and a half ago, he does deserve some credit for come incremental entitlement reforms that he has outlined in his budget,” Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told reporters Wednesday

The U.S. Postal Service on Wednesday said it will delay a cost-cutting plan to end Saturday mail delivery, following congressional action that blocked the effort. Congress passed a temporary federal spending bill last month including language that prevents the agency -- which lost $15.9 billion last year -- from going to a Monday-to-Friday mail delivery schedule. The agency, which wanted to begin the new schedule Aug. 5, said the decision was made Tuesday by its board of governors. “By including restrictive language in the Continuing Resolution, Congress has prohibited implementation of a new national delivery schedule,”

President Obama´s budget plan would increase taxes by $580 billion over the next decade, but it relies on many proposals that have been repeatedly rejected by Congress. Some were rejected as recently as January, when Congress voted to make permanent a series of tax cuts first enacted under President George W. Bush. Among them, a proposal to limit itemized deductions for high-income families. One new proposal is a 94 cents-a-pack increase in the cigarette tax. The tax would raise an estimated $78 billion over the next decade to pay for early childhood education.
