How The Press Helped Obama
Over The Finish Line

Bias: It´s hard to see how press coverage of President Obama´s re-election bid could have gotten any more biased, but a new report shows the media managed to outdo themselves the week before voters went to the polls. The Pew Research Center´s latest analysis puts hard numbers against the claim that the press went out of its way to get Obama re-elected. According to the report, after months of positive press, "Obama´s coverage improved dramatically" in the crucial final week of the campaign.

We knew this was going to happen. Not watching them hasn´t worked. I used to ask what we were going to do about it but now I don´t think there is anything to be done about it. We live in a dictatorship and the "press" is the official propaganda. That we have alternative media is only temporary. They shut down Glenn Beck, Andrew Breitbart and are working on Rush now. The small potatoes will get roasted for dessert.

Let´s put ABC news right in there as well. I have listened (on 770ABC N.Y. during Limbaugh) to the news NOW NEVER mention the rockets that have consistently been fired into Israel in the past year, or mention the fact that Hamas plants its weapons in schools and hospitals. Ditto t.v. ABC this morning. I actually watched a BBC America...very anti-Israel--report that did a more balanced job. ABC news is NOT to be relied upon.......and places like BRian Williams and NBC also fit in that category. They not only shill for Obama but they are biased against Jews and Israel. Wake up, America!!!!!

There´s a solution to this problem--Republicans need to pool their resources to combating media bias. I´ve always marvelled at how the left, in spite questions that occasionally challenge them, will stay on message. The topic could be taxes and the liberal talking head will transition it to the Republicans´ "War on Women." Leftists are fighting guerrilla warfare, and Republicans are lining up like British soldiers, preparing to be shot. And then, on top of that, 95% of the media is out to destroy them. We need to assume that these are current rules, stop complaining about media bias, and react accordingly.

There needs to be seminars and programs for conservative lawmakers to answer these types of questions properly. Not only should we avoid the questions that allow the media to frame the issues, but we have to be able to frame the issue right back at them. If the media talks about abortion and rape, we need to talk about 3rd-trimester infanticide and how the President (and Left in general) supports it. If the media talks about religion, we need to talk about how the left has made the state their god. This has to be done by 2014, or we´ll reside in 2nd place forever.

Biased? I´d suggest that the bias has morphed into outright activism.

Those from the other perspective will take the data as confirmation that there is disproportionate negative content to report on, so of course there will be disproportionate reporting of negative stories. This kind of analysis is great but far from the ironclad case we need to build. Be careful how you use this when you talk with your lefty cousin at the dinner table on Thursday.

ObamaCare Taxes Will
Increasingly Bite Middle Class
Investor´s Business Daily, by John Merline    Original Article

When President Obama was selling his signature health care reform bill back in early 2010, he described it as the "largest middle-class tax cut for health care in history." The costs would be largely paid by taxing insurance companies "that stand to gain a lot of money and a lot of profits" and by making "sure that the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share on Medicare." [snip] But a closer examination finds that ObamaCare´s three biggest taxes — a Medicare surcharge, the so-called Cadillac tax and an insurance premium fee — will increasingly hit the middle class

Almost as many people signed up with the federal government´s permanent worker disability program as got jobs in March, according to two sets of government data, continuing a troubling trend throughout the Obama recovery. Last month, 81,804 workers left the workforce to join the Social Security Disability Insurance program. So far this year, nearly a quarter million workers have joined the program. Over the past four years, 4 million left the workforce to go on disability.

Uninsured: The White House recently released details about how it plans to market ObamaCare to the uninsured. What it reveals is that most of them don´t want what the administration is trying to force them to buy. In a series of slides posted on the Health and Human Services´ website, the administration explains how it plans to market ObamaCare to the uninsured. Let´s leave aside for a minute the oddity of this effort. Its backers have endlessly touted ObamaCare as a miracle of modern government that will at long last bring insurance within reach of 48 million people

Americans are migrating from less-free liberal states to more-free conservative states, where they are doing better economically, according to a new study published Thursday by the George Washington University´s Mercatus Center. The "Freedom in the 50 States" study measured economic and personal freedom using a wide range of criteria, including tax rates, government spending and debt, regulatory burdens, and state laws covering land use, union organizing, gun control, education choice and more.

Just over three years ago, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi famously quipped about ObamaCare that "we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it." But only now, as ObamaCare´s third anniversary approaches — President Obama signed it into law on March 23, 2010 — is the country starting to find out what the sweeping health care overhaul will actually do. ObamaCare backers typically tout popular features that went into effect almost immediately. The law expanded Medicare´s drug coverage, for example, and let children stay on their parents´ plans until they turned 26. But the bulk

Food Stamp Nation: A little town in Rhode Island shows where liberalism and all its talk of economic "security" ultimately leads — a stale economy and suffocating dependence on big government. In a surprisingly candid and lengthy expose, the Washington Post described how Woonsocket, an economically depressed town in Rhode Island, has been turned upside down by food stamps. With a third of the town enrolled, food stamps have created a huge boom-and-bust economy in Woonsocket

In their first budget in four years, Senate Democrats claim to have crafted a plan that cuts federal spending a total of $975 billion over the next decade. "This budget cuts spending responsibly," said Senate Budget Chairman Patty Murray, D-Wash., this week. "There are no sacred cows; we put everything we can on the table." But an IBD review of the budget data shows that the Senate vastly overstates the size of its spending cuts. In fact, it could be that the Senate would, if enacted, increase federal spending by hundreds of billions of dollars.

Budget: When President Obama put out his "balanced" plan to avoid the automatic sequester cuts, no one noticed. Which is probably just as well for Obama, given how embarrassingly unbalanced it is. [snip] Last week, New York Times columnist David Brooks wrote about how Obama "hasn´t actually come up with a proposal to avert sequestration, let alone one that is politically plausible." Turns out, Obama did have one, although Brooks can be excused for not knowing it, since the administration hasn´t exactly been promoting this so-called plan.

On Tuesday, Sen. Jeff Sessions touted a government report that blew a $6.2 trillion hole in President Obama´s promise that his signature health reform wouldn´t add a dime to the deficit. According to the report by the Government Accountability Office, that promise rested entirely on several cost-control mechanisms in ObamaCare that almost no one thinks will work. For years, ObamaCare critics focused on its least popular feature — the mandate that everyone buy insurance — taking their fight all the way to the Supreme Court. But as ObamaCare´s official launch date approaches, even its backers are beginning to admit that the law could actually create powerful incentives for millions of people and thousands of businesses to drop their coverage, despite the mandate. There is growing concern, for example, that the law´s market reforms will cause a huge "rate shock," particularly for those young and healthy.

Sequester: In his State of the Union speech, President Obama is sure to issue dire warnings about the automatic spending cuts resulting from the "sequester." But look closer, and the cuts are far less than meet the eye. As the March deadline for the sequester draws closer, Obama´s rhetoric about the cuts it will impose grows more overheated. In his radio address over the weekend, he said they would be "a huge blow to middle-class families and our economy as a whole."

Yesterday, the most modest of gun control proposals died in the Senate. It would have expanded background checks to people purchasing weapons at gun shows and online sales, enjoyed 90 per cent support among the public and came on the back of the tragedy at Newtown. Yet, despite all that it had going for it, the Toomey-Manchin bill raised just 54 votes--six short of the number necessary for passage. “This is a pretty shameful day for Washington,” said Obama afterwards. It wasn’t exactly a red letter day for him, either. Why did the no-brainer bill fail? Four reasons:

We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people. But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.

While the media are bearing the brunt of public skepticism over the handling of the Boston bombing, the behavior of government is also eroding public trust. Yesterday´s promised but cancelled news briefing is just one symptom. Andrew McCarthy of PJM notes that "Misinformation rather than enlightenment has been the order of the day in the investigation of Monday´s terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon," and that part of it is the natural outgrowth of the desire of investigators to keep the details of their investigations secret, so as not to alert suspects.

Mark Kelly, the astronaut husband of former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, on Thursday upbraided senators who voted against gun legislation by saying they voted “out of fear.” ”If that vote had been a secret ballot, I bet you it would have passed with 80 votes,” Kelly told reporters. He was referencing the compromise authored by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) to expand background checks for gun buyers. It failed to advance in the Senate, with a vote Wednesday afternoon of 54 to 46.
