Christmas is a Federal Holiday ...if I put up a Nativity scene I am JUST observing what the FEDERAL GOVT told me to do

The judges and politicians and other heathens can do what they will. They don´t rule my heart or mind nor do they shake my faith.

I heard the term "preference cascade" quite a bit before the election from conservatives, meaning that the dominos were falling at an increasing pace for Romney. I now fear a very different preference cascade has begun for America. :bleaksigh:

Practice Christianity and quit worrying about Nativity scenes.

sure - we can be Christians down in the catacombs using secret ichthus signs to figure out where we can get together and celebrate Mass. The problem is that the USA is not 80-90% pagan. It is 80% Christian. Who let the minority take over?

I hope a wealthy landowner will invite the committee to set up its Nativity Scene on his nearby ´private´ property, complete with lights and hidden video cameras to protect the figures. In fact, this might be a good idea everywhere .... private property, where athiests don´t get to dictate Christmas tradition and where electeds aren´t apt to be bought off, as they declare Christmas null and void.

Build it and they will come. My little church renewed an old tradition of a live nativity, last year. ON the front lawn, on the busy corner of the little village. Cookies and hot chocolate and kid activities inside. It was wonderful. Don´t give up, just do it whereever and whenever you can.

Ever Christmas we used to perform as our school´s Christmas pageant the story of the birth of Christ, fully costumed, reciting the story as it was in the King James version of the Holy Bible. In a public elementary school in Pasadena, CA.

What a shame that that has been lost. It is what Christmas is about.

How long do you think it might be before enough "progressives" get on HOA boards and disallow lawn decorations on private property? You know, once the progressives have won the city property war, why would they not move to private property?

How long before enough progressives get on city councils and make it against the law for lawn or light decorations, you know, for safety reasons.

I can see the following message in the not-to-distant future:

Dear Homeowner in the City of Rosewood Park:

Ordinance #34332 now forbids the construction or implementation of any lawn decorations, lighting, or any other material in recognition of the Winter Holiday. The factors for this are clear. Such displays cause community unrest, electrical issues have proven to create fires, and such displays upset the look and feel of a city we have all worked so hard to create. Rosewood Park has always prided itself for its harmonious and balanced approach that is inclusive to all are citizens.

Such displays serve merely to divide our city. As such displays can easily be seen by public roadways and thoroughfares, they create an atmosphere of exclusion and ill will, as well as the aforementioned safety violations that could most impact children and our families.

Our city plans to lead the way for other cities to ensure that all its citizens are free to live in an environment that is free of offensive and divisive imagery, and fosters a sense of community and dignity--not provocation and coercion.

For those who still wish to observe the holiday tradition of their choice, they can still celebrate within their housing structure, as long as no seasonal music can be heard by other citizens outside the structure, and no colored lights or inside decorations are visible from public sidewalks.
