What´s left of the Church of England is a lost cause. Another disaster caused by liberalism. I´m surprised that this didn´t pass given that the COE has become the church of "anything goes". Even so far as Rowan supporting the "occupiers" who were defecating in St. Paul´s Cathedral.

Since rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, why can´t these rebellious witches see that it is impossible for a woman to be the ´husband of one wife.´

A woman bishop is an abomination to the word of God.

Women were followers of Jesus, too. They were also the first people to whom Jesus revealed his resurrected self, were there with him as he died on the cross, etc. They represent 52% of the world population. Women should absolutely be allowed to be bishops. It´s supposed to be all about preaching and upholding The Word and getting the Good News out... right?! What gender you are in regards to that is irrelevant. IMHO

COE is a paternalistic refuge that absolutely should be allowed to have it´s own belief system without criticism from without - unless, of course, they are encouraging people to do dastardly deeds. Excusing women from the bishophry is not something we should worry about. It´s their business and right to operate their church any way they see fit within the bounds of decency and the law.

For some reason, I have less concern about the COE´s refusal to let women wear a Bishop´s Cassock than I have for the Islamist requirement that a woman wear a Burka.

IMHO, for years RCC had been trying to heal the scism between COE the GOC and the RCC. But alas, it has failed and this is perhaps the reason because the EOC has women Priests (Not so in the GOC)which is still a mission by women in the RCC.
All the Apostles were men as were their Desciples at the formation of The Church. The EOC is break away from the RCC because of good old Charley and his wives whom he killed. Divorce was still a definite NO_NO so he put them away so he could marry again among many other issues he had with the Pope. COE lost it chain of the Apostle Power. BTW many Anglican Preists are swithching back to the RCC. If they have wives, they are okay as it is allowed in the Eastern Catholic Church (Priests have to marry before the are ordained.)
Many women are in the fray in the USA because the number of men who are entering the Preisthood has declined radically since WWII.

I don´t diagree with the decision but think it´s kind of sideshow. If the COE agreed to let women be bishops does anyone think the pews would be any fuller on Sunday?

The real reason for a separation of Church and State is to protect the Church.

State run Churches always become political entities and lose focus on their GOD.

The Bible says that church leaders--bishops, priests, elders, etc.--are supposed to be men. Churches that allow women in these positions are not following the Bible.

A year ago the COE approved the appointment of openly gay male priests as bishops, even priests in gay "civil partnerships," so long as they remain celibate. Since male priests are permitted to marry women and have sex with their wives, it would appear that the COE has a problem with bishops having sex with men.

So, what about homosexual women bishops (are there any heterosexual COE female priests? Nevermind)? Not only do they not have sex with men, they have sex with women just like normal male priests. Seems to work OK. But here´s a tough one. What about heterosexual transgendered he/she men? You know, a man who believes he is a homosexual woman trapped in a man´s body, and has himself surgically made to look like a woman in order to attract homosexual women to have sex with? Is he a man or a woman? Either way he has sex with women, so OK, right?

Ah the Church in the 21st Century. It would have been so much easier if God had just given us a Bible or something to get some guidance from.

## - I assume you´re speaking as a member of the Anglican communion. If so, you´ll have to admit that Katherine Schori (Presiding Bishop of the amazing shrinking Episcopal Church) -- a sort of Janet Napolitano in a casssock -- hasn´t done a whole hell of a lot for our church that has had a positive result. (For the puritans here, the "hell" is used advisedly.)

I am Episcopalian and I think one of the reasons that they voted against it is our presiding Bishop here in the US is female. Church attendance is way down and the women are always pushing for same sex marriage rites and prayers as well as other issues. The offering plate is empty and they can´t figure out why. Mainline Episcopalians are fed up with liberalism in the church and the liberals don´t realize that hard working conservatives contol the "purse strings". One day they will.

I belong to a breakaway Episcopal/Anglican congregation and have had conversations about this with my priest. For us, this is not a matter of women being unfit or unsuited to the task but a matter of church order, and for very sound reasons, to not ordain women to the priesthood.

Personally I believe there are places for women in Christian ministry. I remember in particular a hospital chaplain who meant so much to my 17 yr. old sister in the weeks before she died of Burkett´s lymphoma. But I have no trouble being in a church that doesn´t ordain women.

#3, yes, women were "followers" of Jesus, not teachers. In fact, the Bible prohits women from teaching men regarding the Scriptures.

While equality of the sexes may be a good thing in today´s culture, deferring to God´s Word about women teaching in the church may not be a bad idea.

Viz the Church of England, I agree with #´s 1, 4, 10, to name a few. It is not wise to judge Jesus´ time nor His Word by today´s standards of what is right or wrong. Clearly, there are things the Lord prohibits which a great many people think is just peachy, so our idea that women should be treated equally to men doesn´t wash in biblical times.

I knew the church universal was in trouble when the NIV wrote their translation of Scripture which they titled, "Today´s New International Version" -- which neutered all references to "Father", Son, Him, His and instead placed politically-correct words in there to please the masses.

Jesus wasn´t about pleasing the masses; Christianity is exclusive -- it excludes that which isn´t it. That includes feminism.

ADDENDUM: This does NOT mean women shouldn´t be in ministering positions and in other areas of ministry (preaching the Gospel through words and actions). In fact, I teach advanced Bible studies and apologetics to women. But not to men. I have been asked to teach "couples" classes and have declined on biblical grounds. One cannot pick and choose the parts of the Bible one likes while discarding the rest.

The first sentence says the outcome of the vote will guarantee more strife. How interesting! Had they voted to permit women bishops, that apparently would have ended the strife. Once the left wins, there will be peace and the conservatives will, as always, just have to get over it.

I think the Biblical directive against women clergy is a wise one. The women preachers I have heard have not exactly been inspiring. Not that all men are, but some are, definitely. Also, how can a woman preacher preach the authority of the Bible when she herself is not following it?

We are truly blessed in the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese to have Msgr. Jeffrey Steenson the dedicated leader of the Anglican Rite in the Catholic Church. The Anglican Rite is truly the Breath of the Holy Spirit increasing the spiritual life of the Catholic Church. Voting no women bishops by the Church of England will not heal the wounds caused by years of liberal feel-good-ism.

Satan thought he could be like God... much like those who believe they can write their own bible and expect God to approve it. Obedience to God shows our love for Him; disobedience to Him shows our love of self.
God designed men and women to be different, physically, emotionally and in other ways that allow each to contribute to family, society and to His kingdom in their own respected ways; not better not worse, different.
Why can´t people submit to God, read about the fall in Genesis, it´s in our nature and it shows in our culture and in marketing and the media that has so much influence on our culture, an influence that is not godly.
