| WASHINGTON - CBS News has learned that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) cut specific references to "al Qaeda" and "terrorism" from the unclassified talking points given to Ambassador Susan Rice on the Benghazi consulate attack - with the agreement of the CIA and FBI. The White House or State Department did not make those changes. There has been considerable discussion about who made the changes to the talking points that Rice stuck to in her television appearances on Sept. 16 (video), five days after the attack that

Comments: Oh sure. The regime will do everything they can to cover those in the White House who are most likely the guilty culprits. It was probably Jarrett, Axelrod or Plouffe. I´ve never had much confidence in Clapper. I will never forget he was not even aware of the terrorist attack in London.

Ummm - - OK.
So - - the actual, factual link to Al-Qaeda was too tenuous to mention - - but the fabricated link to the video was so rock solid that they eagerly broadcast it over five TV networks.
Yup - - count me in - - I´ll buy that.

Are we to believe that no one in the "White HOuse" knew what Rice was going to say? Isn´t the DNI part of the Executive Branch, by the way?

Catherine Herridge at Fox News is reporting this morning that this "new" view is at variance with sworn testimony from the previous week.
Funny thing about telling the truth: You never have to remember what you said.
In this case, there is a new reality every week, often at variance with the reality of last week. This variances in reality are called "lies."

Are we actually expected to believe that the head of one agency creates a report, someone in a second agency changes the report, it ends up back at the initial agency to confirm the changes, and the head of the initial agency who created the report subsequently knows nothing about the changes, but there you go,the WH and the State Dept are magically absolved from any blame. They see no evil, hear no evil, and speak of no evil. Frankly, they will do anything to wall off the WH from anything negative. I hope that Mr. Petreaus is asked back to speak before Congress and tells them that as head of the CIA he was just expected to be a figurehead and that his subordinates did not even tell them when they altered HIS reports. I absolutely believe that this new story is fiction.

They simply think we are stupid - there is no other explanation. #2 hit the nail on the head: the government wasn´t certain it was al Qaeda so they did the cautious thing - they fabricated a lie and threw a film maker in jail. Our president and secretary of state both had the callousness to repeat that lie while standing over the remains of the four fallen well after the fact. These people are pure evil.

Clapper is an "old white male", which means that this racist set up the incredibly intelligent, sophisticated and inspirational African America woman so that she would be attacked by two of the GOP´s old white males, McCain and Graham. Or, simply, the head of Obama´s DNI gave Susan Rice the clap so that she would have to lie 5 times on TV about it.
The entire Obama Administration is as unappealing as a social disease. Unfortunately, 51% rejected the cure.

Any way you look at it, Rice lied--or transmitted a lie. Even if you accept what Clapper says as true, it was a lie that the attack was spontaneous or that the evidence supported that statement. The CIA´s original statement said otherwise. Are we just supposed to accept lies by our government on the assumption they have some reason for the lie? Here is what Rice should have said, if what Clapper said is true: We are still investigating the reasons for the attack. There is evidence that it was initiated by terrorist groups that may have a connection to Al Qaeda. We are still trying to connect all the dots.

In my opinion the attempt to attribute this attack on terrorists or from a spontaneous outbreak of violence arising from the typical peace loving Muslims is minor compared to saying this attack was because of a protest of an unviewed film made in the US. The fabricator of the film story created to give cover to the typical peaceful Muslims needs to be discovered and questioned.

Uh, so, was it the DNI who decided surreptitiously to make ads depicting Obama and Clinton condemning and apologizing for the Mohammed movie and show them on TV in the Middle East, ten days after the consulate attack? I guess it must have been somebody else´s idea, since obviously the President, Secretary of State and Amassador Rice had nothing to do with it. The DNI must have written the scripts and had Obama and Clinton read them without their knowledge.

With the failure of the Democrats’ attempt to exploit the Newtown school shooting to press forward gun control measures, President Obama took to the microphones along with the relatives of Sandy Hook victims to demonize his opposition. This, of course, was his strategy all along: knowing that he did not have 60 votes in the Democrat-controlled Senate to pass his gun control legislation, he pressed forward anyway, hoping to paint Republicans as intransigent, immoral tools of the gun lobby who don’t care about dead children. After demonizing Republicans, Obama hopes, he can press Americans into voting Democrats

Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) warned he sees “a huge train wreck coming down” with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, known to its critics as Obamacare. The candid comments came during a Wednesday hearing with Obama’s Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. “I´m very concerned that not enough is being done so far--very concerned," said Baucus. "Small businesses have no idea what to do, what to expect.” Baucus appeared frustrated with Sebelius’s unresponsiveness in supplying the senator with information designed to educate and assist citizens with understanding the massively complex healthcare overhaul.

A man from Tupelo, Miss. has been arrested as a suspect in the case of two letters mailed to the president and a Mississippi senator, letters that initially tested positive for ricin. The man was identified as Kenneth Curtis, NBC News reported. Meanwhile, more tests have been ordered after a second set of ricin tests on the letters sent to the White House and the Senate came back inconclusive, NBC News reports. The tests show some level of the deadly poison, but the potency is uncertain, so authorities can’t tell whether the material is harmful or not.

BOSTON - A law enforcement official has told CBS News that an arrest has been made in the Boston Marathon bombings. The person has been taken into custody by federal marshals and will be in court Wednesday afternoon. Investigators made a “clear identification” of a suspect in the bombings, according to CNN, with surveillance video. Correspondent John King, a Boston native, said authorities have a clear video image of a “dark-skinned male” placing a bag at the second bomb site outside of the Forum restaurant on Boylston Street and then leaving the area before that explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, said the source, who declined to be more specific but called it a significant development. Boxer said her bill, S. 739, is meant to help address the nation´s shortage of nurses, and would also ensure patients get the care they need while in the hospital. It´s a measure of how little he values the special relationship — and a sign of his own smallness. Back in more gracious times, vice presidents routinely attended funerals of foreign dignitaries. As such, the presence of Vice President Joe Biden — if not Obama himself — would seem fitting for as significant a U.S. ally as the late Prime Minister Thatcher, if not out of warmth of feeling, then simply to represent the U.S.´ gratitude. Obama, like all Americans, is standing by, waiting for answers as to who planted two bombs improvised from pressure cookers at the finish line of the storied race, and why. Three Americans were killed in Monday´s attack and more than 170 others were injured. "Anytime bombs are used to target innocent civilians, it is an act of terror," Obama said,

As we now move into the official Political Aftermath period of the Boston bombing — the period that will determine the long-term legislative fallout of the atrocity — the dynamics of privilege will undoubtedly influence the nation’s collective reaction to the attacks. That’s because privilege tends to determine: 1) which groups are — and are not — collectively denigrated or targeted for the unlawful actions of individuals; and 2) how big and politically game-changing the overall reaction ends up being.

Mark Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), is threatening to back an election challenge against Sen. Jeff Flake if the Arizona Republican votes against legislation to expand background checks. At a Christian Science Monitor breakfast on Tuesday, Kelly said he would back an opponent to Flake if the "right candidate" was available and if the senator failed to support a background check bill, according to reports.
