Wonder Bread Copycat for Bread Machine

This is a delicious, buttery white bread that is
great for sandwiches, toast or just plain with butter.

This has the lightness and texture of Wonder Bread but with a nice buttery flavor.

2/3 cup lukewarm water
1 large egg
1 tablespon granulated sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons table salt
5 tablespoons soft butter (I used butter flavor Crisco)
1/2 cup plain yogurt
3 1/4 to 3 1/2 cups Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
2 1/2 teaspoons (or 1 packet) bread machine or instant yeast

Add ingredients to bread machine in order listed or
according to your bread machine mfg´s directions.

Settings: White Bread, 1 1/2 lb loaf, Medium Crust.

Press Start.

Makes One, 1 1/2 lb loaf.

If the unions would work with management to make the company more productive and profitable salaries and benefits would increase. That happens in the real world when non-union shops become more productive. Non productive measures that add costs hurt workers. It´s such a simple concept. Even union bosses should get it.

Recently a small tree fell across the county road in front of my house at about 10 pm.. Cars could not pass. The police showed up. I put a small chain saw in the back of my SUV and drove up to see the cop. I offered to cut the tree into pieces small enough to clear the road. I would have taken about 5 minutes. He said not. He said that a county DPW was on call, and that he would show up soon. He added that he county guy was on overtime, and he wanted the money. I said OK. They then waited another hour and a half for the Country DPW guy, no doubt a union member, cars all lined up in the roadway.

If you have been following this labor dispute on the TV news stations, many times they will show the union members with signs outside the now closed Hostess bakeries.

Just about all the Hostess employees shown out there are black people. It looks like the Hostess company is going to be purchased by a huge Mexican bakery conglomerate. If that is so, it will not be long before just about all the people who will be doing the former Hostess company workers jobs will be non-union Mexican workers.

If the brands survive under new owners the product will have to made in a non union state. In union states beloning is mandatory.There are around 18 non union states in the south and western red places..

Twinkie filling: Cream 2 Tbl. butter and 1/3 c. shortening. Slowly add 1 1/3 c. powd. sugar and 1 Tbl. granulated sugar while beating. Add 1/3 c. canned evaporated milk, 1 tsp. vanilla, and 2 drops lemon extract. mix on medium speed until smooth and fluffy. I use my Kitchen Aid mixer for this recipe with the beater attachment.
This is a good cake filling, or bake off chocolate cupcakes, make a hole in the top with the handle of a wooden spoon, and inject the filling using a pastry bag. cover the hole with frosting and you have a "Hostess" cupcake. Little goobers are stymied how you get the filling in there...cute.

I´m sure many people have similar stories as this tale from the Rustbelt (Buffalo, NY - A Good Place to be From). A relative of mine worked at an industrial equipment (heat exchangers and compressors) maker that hit a rough patch. They were bought out but they new owner had no better luck. The new owner asked the unions (there were three) for work rule changes to make the company more flexible. The unions stood on principle and said no even though they knew it meant the company would close. A third buyer bought the designs and buildings and machinery and started a new non-union company with a few of the former employees, including my relative. 20 years later that company is still operating and my relative retired from there not to long ago.

You are a chowderhead if you ever buy a business that closed without getting rid of the union that closed it. On the other hand if you want sullen employees that get pressured to not work too hard, go for it. Hey liberals: this is a perfect way to put your money where your mouth is and use your own trust funds to buy a company subject to union control.

#4 must live in the great state of NY where it´s common for union lazy county workers to pad their wages and get higher pension payouts. It´s not uncommon here to see 5 or more county workers working on something, but only one guy is working, the others just stand around and watch.

TO hades with the union, the bankruptcy will null/void all contracts. Start over without them...in TEXAS!

No wonder 90% of products we buy say ´Made in China´, ´Made in Mexico´, etc.. It´s not worth the aggravation dealing with unions.
