Rioters attack ethnic
Somalis in Kenyan capital

Reuters, by Richard Lough*

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 11/19/2012 1:07:37 PM

Nairobi - Kenyan police fired tear gas to disperse rioters who attacked ethnic Somalis in the Nairobi district known as "Little Mogadishu" on Monday, hurling rocks and smashing windows after a weekend bomb attack there killed nine people. The violence coincided with the start of voter registration for a general election in March, adding to security concerns ahead of the first national polls since 2007 when a dispute over the results fuelled ethnic slaughter that killed more than 1,200 people and forced some 300,000 from their homes. Angry mobs broke into Somali homes and shops in anger

I hate it when all those racist white people get together and start rioting against the Noble and Innocent black Somali immigrants.

Oh wait, the rioters are NOT white? You mean racism isn´t the only explanation for everything that happens in this world?

Ironically (or not), when freed slaves opted to return to Liberia in the 1840s, they rounded up some of the natives they found there...and made them slaves!

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin vetoed a bill late Friday that would have banned abortion in West Virginia after 20 weeks. The Democratic governor said the bill was unconstitutional and state legislators were quick to "trample the rights of women in West Virginia," according to CBS affiliate WOWK-TV. "I have vetoed HB 4588 because I am advised, by not only attorneys from the legislature, but through my own legal team that this bill is unconstitutional," he said in a statement. Tomblin also said the medical community thought the legal penalties facing the legislation were problematic "because it unduly restricts the physician-patient relationship.

These are disturbing days for the agency charged with protecting the president of the United States. From prostitutes in Colombia to drunkenness in Amsterdam, it is no wonder that so many members of Congress — as well as former agents — have lost patience with a Secret Service that can’t seem to stay out of the news (Snip) The problem in the agency is not alcohol or debauchery, but weak leadership. There are too many incompetent managers who want the title, pay and perks of management while performing no duties of leadership. The problem is not bad Secret Service agents but bad leaders of Secret Service agents.

Shannon, Ireland - Halfway home from Saudi Arabia, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has abruptly changed course and will stay in Europe for talks on the Ukraine crisis. Flying from Riyadh to Shannon, Ireland, for a refueling stop on Saturday, Kerry decided to turn his plane around and was traveling to Paris for a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov scheduled for Sunday evening. Kerry spoke to Lavrov on the flight after President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed in a call on Friday to have their foreign ministers meet to discuss a possible diplomatic resolution to the Ukraine situation.

Noel was not just a force of nature, he was a very good man. How quickly this all happened. Just two months ago, Noel wrote about suddenly getting cancer at 53 called "Cancer´s Ray of Hope." Nine days ago, he wrote us and said he was interested in writing about his "progress" -- and he put "progress" in quotes. We were all wishing for better news, and really couldn't imagine this was a battle that would end this way.

Lydia DePillis´ story last week about the imminent demise of low-cal liquor made me realize that I don´t spend a lot of time thinking about the calorie content of booze. This isn´t an accident - beer, wine and liquor manufacturers are held to very different labeling standards than other food and beverage makers, and those standards don´t require the familiar ´nutrition facts´ you see everywhere else. The history behind this is complicated and a little insane - after Prohibition, beer makers were actually forbidden from putting alcohol content information on their labels. They finally sued for the right to do so in 1987.

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from

Taking the time to get and spend money on a degree, in short, means you might actually find yourself in a financial hole. The survey may add to parents' doubts about

When atheist director and co-writer Darren Aronofsky promised that his epic "Noah" would be "the least biblical film ever made," that was not hyperbole. "Noah" is a brilliant, compelling, beautifully-mounted, beautifully-acted piece of storytelling conceived for the sinister purpose of leading people to believe that Christianity and Judaism are something they are not. (Snip) What does matter, though, is The Message. The Message is everything. And this is where Aronofsky is the snake in the garden. Using a $135 million, he and Paramount have brilliantly and deviously disguised the Pagan god Gaia as the God of the Old Testament … as THE God.
