| A man who listed his address as a homeless shelter has been charged with stabbing a 67-year-old man who was dining with his family at a restaurant on North Michigan Avenue, police said. Jimmy Harris, 56, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with intent to do great bodily harm and aggravated unlawful restraint, police said. Harris is accused of attacking Mir Jafar Shah, of Oak Brook, in the restroom of a restaurant in the Westin Hotel around 8 p.m. Saturday officials said.

I don´t know why people who are interviewed keep saying that they´re shocked by a crime happening in a "safe" neighborhood. There are no safe neighborhoods in Chicago.
An oncologist is stabbed by a bum in a swanky Gold Coast hotel, thieves in a getaway car trying to run over a cop whose on foot patrol, this is the norm, even on Michigan Ave. Chicago is a dangerous city and anyone who believes otherwise is a fool.

President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama reported income of $608,611 in 2012 and paid $112,214 in total taxes, the White House announced Friday. Tax documents released by the White House show the first family donated $150,034 to 33 different charities, representing nearly a quarter of their gross income. LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.

JACKSON, Ky.-Breathitt County school officials say they are removing Ten Commandments displays from the high school, middle school and elementary schools. WYMT-TV reports the move came after the schools received a complaint from the Freedom From Religion Foundation. The group´s letter says the displays have been up for years. Kentucky Board of Education officials released a statement saying that the display of religious materials in public schools violates the U.S. Constitution. WASHINGTON- Retail sales contracted in March for the second time in three months, a sign the American economy may have stumbled at the end of the first quarter. Retail sales fell 0.4 percent during the month, the Commerce Department said on Friday. That was below analysts´ expectations that sales would be flat. Readings for retail sales have been volatile so far this year, making it difficult to know whether the weakness in March was due to a tax hike that went into effect at the start of the year or to temporary factors related to the weather.

Hours after First Lady Michelle Obama tearfully mourned the death of a 15-year-old girl who was shot in her Chicago hometown a second girl of the same age and in the same city has been critically wounded by gunfire. The unidentified girl was shot near her stomach around 1pm on the South Side of the city´s Grand Crossing neighborhood, roughly four miles south of where Hadiya Pendleton was killed on January 29. Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
