OGDEN — A truck driver with 45,000 pounds of sugar was turned away from the Hostess plant on Lincoln Avenue Friday after the company´s top officials indefinitely halted operations at the facility and others nationwide. "I sat around for an hour and a half … and then got a call to take the sugar someplace else," said Rocky Ridge, a driver for Idaho-based Handy Truck Line. Reading this article about the sugar truck made me immediatley think that this is a scheme by Michelle Obama to control what we eat. Can´t think of a more iconic junk food to take away from us than Twinkies. Far fetched I know, by nowadays anything is possible.

The total number of people losing their jobs will be much larger than 18000 as people like the sugar company employee lose jobs also.
I love when the liberals blame the company for going out of business.
Who would simply shut down a a profitable company to get back at employees?
The libs want a company to keep losing and losing until every investor and supplier has lost everything.
Read Atlas Shrugged.

Last night on the news in Tulsa, they were interviewing some of the 60 people losing jobs as Hostess employees. Universally, those interviewed were ignorant of basic economics and were insisting that the company could have met the union´s demands. They were also, to put it delicately, typical Obama voters with regards to their personal demographics.

Too bad, lefties, Hostess isn´t the government. They can´t simply confiscate cash from their fellow citizens or make payroll indefinitely with borrowed money.

The dumbing down of America includes unions, who understand only one thing: gimme, gimme, gimme.

Remembering a post from yesterday that announced the petition to the White House to nationalize Hostess.

Imagine Twinkies being run in an Amtrak sort of way. Few billion here, few billion there... eventually, your stores might actually see delivery of the Twinkies.

The real story is how the demands of 5,000 union employees put 13,500 other employees out of work. I don´t expect it to be covered from that perspective - but that´s what happened.

Hostess should sell to a Company who´ll relocate to a right to work state before Obama, Socialist thug Trumpka and Holder can do anything about it.

I hope they all call their union reps to thank them for their caring and concern over the firings....

A bit off topic but to show how ´dumbed´ down Americans are, last year, when gas prices started going up, a local TV station in Seattle was interviewing people on the street. One young thing, a college student at the U. of Washington told the reporter it didn´t concern her because she didn´t own a car. At times, you just feel like beating your head against a brick wall.

Salt Lake City — Gov. Gary Herbert is hoping a last-minute request to the president will give him the leeway to keep the state´s current model of a mandated health insurance exchange. He sent a three-page letter to President Barack Obama Tuesday touting the "fully functional," "innovative" and "cost-cutting" Avenue H, which offers a choice of 140 health insurance plans to 7,646 individuals in 318 small businesses throughout Utah. The current exchange and its ongoing enhancements, however, do not implement a full expansion of health insurance to all of Utah´s uninsured,

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. There are 5 million of these residences in the U.S., up from

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

I hope all will look at a lifetime of service over some poorly chosen words.” Carson will remain as commencement speaker at Johns Hopkins,

Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

Newtown killer Adam Lanza may have launched his murder spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School as an “act of revenge,” the Daily News has learned. A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school. That they were just torturing him.”
