Kelly Ayotte: Inaction on the fiscal
crisis ´is not an option´

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Original Article

Posted By:SurferLad, 11/17/2012 10:12:02 AM

Hello. I’m Kelly Ayotte—a U.S. Senator from New Hampshire. We’ve had a spirited debate this year about the future of our country. And one thing is clear: the American people expect Republicans and Democrats to work together to solve the difficult challenges we face. For too long, partisan bickering has paralyzed Washington.

"The American People expect Republicans and Democrats to work together..." These are the American People who also seem to expect a free, all-expenses paid cruise through life, with the checks delivered to their doors by unicorns. The the positions of the two parties are fundamentally irreconcilable, so that the only solution is yet another Washington Compromise which will soften, or delay be a year or so, our fall over the cliff.

The handwriting was on the wall six years ago, plain for anyone who wanted to pull his head out of the ground and look at it. Mene, Mene, Tekel Upharsin.

Sorry Senator but after watching the antics of the Democrats for my entire life I most certainly do NOT expect any cooperation from them. They are mindless statists with one ´solution´ to every problem therefore agreeing with them is voluntary insanity.

Agree wholeheartedly with # 1 and 2. The American people expect their representatives to what´s best for America. Acquiescing to the damaging and fatal policies of the lying, immoral and dishonorable Democrats isn´t what´s best.

Dimocrats want to go over the fiscal cliff. You might consider what this will mean for your investments and take action soon.

Hi Kelly. Enjoy the marble palaces of the Imperial City. Make sure the employees there get more raises and benefits. They are so very important.

And please ask them to make many more regulations for the rest of us. At least another 20,000 IRS agents are urgently needed. And buy 20b rounds of ammo next year.

I am confident all the above will be achieved. But little else. Certainly sane cooperation for the benefit of the people will prove impossible.

Enjoy the embassy parties. And those spirited debates. Don´t let those difficult challenges wear you down.

JUMP!!! Let´s go over that fiscal cliff.

There will be millions of clueless people wondering why their paycheck is much smaller when the "Bush tax cuts for the rich" expire.

Congress can fix this in March.

Write your congress critters and recommend this strategy!

No, the American People have spoken- they want their God to do the thinking and debate and "working together" has not one Dmn thing to do with it. The "people", the useful idiots, or "Knuckleheads" as Michelle the Wookie calls them, wantt their God to call all the shots and just take care of them from now on. Kelly A. thinks clinging to the coattails of John McCain and Lindsey Graham will give her the validation needed to run in 2016. IMO with these two dragging her with them in everything they do will have more of a negative effect for her.
Who puts a lot of stock in either McCain or Graham. She has already put herself on my ´won´t fly´ list.

The statements from House leadership are so shockingly weak. "The American people expect Republicans and Democrats to work together..." I would have been embarrassed to go before the country with this! WHO writes their stuff???

Pew just had a poll out that says a majority of the idiots in this country are going to blame the Republicans if a deal can´t be done. Well I think we should just vote present and let Obama have it all, the tax increases for the wealthy and the economy slow down that will result from it. If we object Republicans get blamed anyway. Better to let these foolish people see their messiah fall off his lofty pedestal as their way of life crumbles around them.

Britons and their Queen honor
Margaret Thatcher at funeral;

In one of those ceremonial pageants the Brits invented, Margaret Hilda Thatcher´s funeral unfolded this morning on the old streets of London to the sounds of the classical music she loved and Bible verses in St. Paul´s Cathedral. So great was the global appreciation for the Iron Lady who led Great Britain from 1979-90, that 2,000 dignitaries attended, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. This was the monarch´s first funeral of a former prime minister in nearly a half-century. [Snip] Alas, in a sad slap at its closest European ally, the American president sent no one from his administration.

The bloody scene looked more like Kabul or Baghdad Monday afternoon. But it was downtown Boston on a bright, shiny holiday at the finish line for the Boston Marathon. There, two trash can bombs went off, injuring scores and killing three, including an eight-year-old boy. The awful spectacle was doubly shocking to Americans because, Fort Hood aside, homeland terrorism has been largely thwarted since 9/11. To maximize the impact of their deadly cowardice, terrorists plan their deeds not for, say Mile 18 of a marathon.

This year, we mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War -- a time when thousands of our prisoners of war finally came home after years of starvation and hardship. A group of our POWs emerged carrying a large wooden crucifix, nearly four feet tall. They had spent months on it, secretly collecting firewood, carving it using radio wire for a crown of thorns. It was a tribute to their friend, their chaplain, their fellow prisoner who had touched their souls and saved their lives -- Father Emil Kapaun. This is an amazing story.

One of the privileges of being a journalist for so many years has been the opportunity to witness some historical events in person. Now, of course, anyone can experience events once reserved for only a few. More importantly, I have discovered over time, has been the opportunity to talk with some of the most interesting people around, to probe their minds and learn to think in ways I had never imagined. No mind more so than that of Eugene Kennedy, a former priest and professor emeritus at Loyola University, who’s an expert on history, the church and human nature.

Late as usual, President Obama unveiled his budget Wednesday for the next fiscal year, a 5.5-pound document that outlines $3,800,000,000,000 in spending, another $100 billion whacked from national defense, billions more poured into (union) construction and another $580 billion in additional taxes squeezed from the country´s wealthy because they still have some. Obama´s budget is politically DOA, of course. Tired of waiting, the House has already passed one. Last year´s Obama Opus didn´t garner one single vote from any member of either party in either chamber. But stacks of budget books make good B-roll for TV cutaways.

Despite the endorsement of President Obama, Robin Kelly easily won election Tuesday night in a special House election to represent Illinois´ troubled Second Congressional District. The sprawling urban-suburban district, containing Chicago´s ugly South Side, was formerly represented by Jesse Jackson Jr., who like a number of Illinois politicians will be residing in a federal penitentiary for a while. In fact, the last three incumbents of the Second District´s seat have moved on to prison cells, as have some recent governors. But that’s probably coincidence.

President Obama was on again Monday about gun laws, not enforcing the existing ones. But getting some new ones, any new ones so he can claim some kind of political victory after all of the promises and vows he made in the emotional days last December. But Obama wasn´t working on the senators from his own party who will actually determine the fate of these measures. That would be political leadership. No, Obama was out of town again, up in Hartford for a photo op with Connecticut legislators and some Newtown families.

As we now move into the official Political Aftermath period of the Boston bombing — the period that will determine the long-term legislative fallout of the atrocity — the dynamics of privilege will undoubtedly influence the nation’s collective reaction to the attacks. That’s because privilege tends to determine: 1) which groups are — and are not — collectively denigrated or targeted for the unlawful actions of individuals; and 2) how big and politically game-changing the overall reaction ends up being.

Mark Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), is threatening to back an election challenge against Sen. Jeff Flake if the Arizona Republican votes against legislation to expand background checks. At a Christian Science Monitor breakfast on Tuesday, Kelly said he would back an opponent to Flake if the "right candidate" was available and if the senator failed to support a background check bill, according to reports. Flake, who is not up for reelection until 2018, has been close to Kelly and Giffords. But Kelly said the issue of control trumped their ties.
