| Democrat Ami Bera has defeated Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Calif.) in one of the closest House races of the cycle. Bera and Lungren finished within a few hundred votes of one another on election night, but Bera´s lead has grown in recent days as mail-in and provisional ballots were counted. He leads Lungren by slightly fewer than 4,000 votes with some ballots still left to be counted. The Associated Press called the race for Bera late Thursday evening. The contest was a rematch between the two: Bera narrowly lost to Lungren in 2010, surprising observers with a better-than-expected performance

Gee, another extended vote count loss for Republicans. There is another one in an Arizona disctict ("gabby´s seat"). The GOP candidate led by 1300 votes on election day. Guess what, the extended count now shows the democrat ahead by 700 votes and they are still counting. Election systems are hopelessly corrupt. Until it´s fixed, we´ve got nothing.

They have nobody stopping them. A very astute L.dotter this week said something that I can´t seem to forget. He said we may be in the midst of a communist coup (or something to that effect) and not even be aware of it. Please excuse me that I can´t give proper credit. Anyway, this unending vote counting in more and more states always turn out to the Democrat advantage..

To be fair, the vote counts in Arizona still aren´t finished. As of last Friday, there will still over 25% of the ballots to be counted.
That said, I agree that the counting needs to be done differently. I think that no totals should be reported until all votes are counted. There is a consistent pattern of the democrat coming from behind and squeaking by with just a few votes. Enough is enough.

A final disappointment in the disastrous 2012 election. This race to me illustrated the party´s impotence. Bera got tons of outside money for an unrelenting smear campaign. The party knew this was a close one, where were they? The Democrats are so far superior to the GOP when it comes to picking off selected opponents.

Hours after First Lady Michelle Obama tearfully mourned the death of a 15-year-old girl who was shot in her Chicago hometown a second girl of the same age and in the same city has been critically wounded by gunfire. The unidentified girl was shot near her stomach around 1pm on the South Side of the city´s Grand Crossing neighborhood, roughly four miles south of where Hadiya Pendleton was killed on January 29. Just about 20 minutes later a 27-year-old man was shot in the leg in the same neighborhood, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Organizers said the number of markers was chosen to honor the victims of gun violence who have died since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs."
