N.J. lost nearly 12,000 jobs in October
The Record [Hackensack, NJ], by Hugh R. Morley

New Jersey’s job growth is basically flat for the year following Thursday’s release of October figures that show the state lost 11,700 jobs, the biggest one-month decline since June 2009. And the prospects for November are no better, with more losses expected as the result of superstorm Sandy. The state lost 9,400 private sector and 2,300 government jobs in October, based on a survey completed before the storm, bringing the total employment gain this year to 17,600, the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported.(Snip) Thursday’s report also revised downward the employment figure for September,

Comments:
Hold the November 6 election again and these incorrigibles would vote the same way.

FTA - He noted that the biggest fall in employment came in the leisure and hospitality sector, which fell by 9,700 jobs.

These are the private sector losses.

I have a hard time believing the 2,300 government job losses:
There is a difference between a government job being cut versus an employee retiring and being of the rolls.

What was the actual number of government jobs eliminated which will never be filled?

It´ll be interesting to see Christie´s reaction when Obama campaigns vociferously for the Dem running against him next year. The Dems will use the rising job losses as a bludgeon.

Louisville police are investigating a series of assaults by a roving group of teens in the downtown that a spokesman said sent at least two people to University Hospital Saturday night. Spokesman Dwight Mitchell said the incidents started about 9 p.m. and involved about 10 to 15 teens assaulting apparently random victims in seven or eight incidents. The first incident occurred near the Big Four Bridge. A woman was attacked in the restroom of a gas station at First and Jefferson streets and was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries, he said. “For better or worse” is a vow some married couples don’t take seriously. But not in Arlington, Va., where a drunk, naked wife rushed to the aid of her husband at the county jail. ARLnow.com reports Maura Fussell showed up at the Arlington Magistrate’s Office at about 11 p.m. last Saturday. She was there to see her husband, who had been arrested earlier in the day on unspecified charges in Clarendon. Nearly every state department will see some funding reduced in a series of spending cuts totaling nearly $700 million that Governor Christie says is needed now to help keep New Jersey´s $33 billion budget in balance. Christie´s administration announced the midyear cuts -- spending adjustments called "lapses" in state budget documents -- in late February, but the administration did not detail at the time which departments and programs would see budget reductions. A detailed list of the spending lapses was provided to The Record on Friday in response to a public records request. In all, the administration is making cuts to 70 different

TRENTON — A major credit-rating agency on Wall Street lowered its outlook on New Jersey´s debt from stable to negative today, citing a perfect storm of rising debt, ballooning costs, questionable budgeting practices by Gov. Chris Christie and an economic recovery that has lagged the rest of the country in recent years. In a report to investors, Fitch analysts also panned Christie´s new $34.4 billion budget because, like previous ones, it "relies on one-time measures" instead of stable funding sources and includes only a small cushion of cash reserves, $301 million, to absorb the shock of any unexpected costs.
