Heroin charge dropped
vs. Bon Jovi´s daughter,
district attorney says

CLINTON, N.Y. – Drug charges against Jon Bon Jovi´s 19-year-old daughter have been dropped, a central New York prosecutor said Thursday. Stephanie Bongiovi was found unresponsive by medics after she apparently overdosed on heroin in a Hamilton College dorm early Wednesday. Town of Kirkland police charged Bongiovi, of Red Bank, N.J., and fellow student Ian Grant, also of Red Bank, with possession of a small amount of heroin and marijuana. Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara said he was dismissing the charges against both students.

Comments:
You don´t suppose McNamara was reminded of this by Obie via Andrew Cuomo when Obie visited NYC for his Staten Island photo op today, do you? Nah. Could never happen.

But it must have pained him to see the daughter of best friend Bon Jovi in such a pickle...

Kids will be kids! No harm, no foul. Hey, it is a victimless crime. She said someone spiked her ginger ale...and we believe her.

Move on. Nothing more to see.

Too bad. That could have been a wake up call for the girl. Now Daddy used his lib influence with obama and obama´s thugs to pull strings. The girl will likely get in worse trouble later and die. Thanks Dad--shield me from my problems and let them get worse. Sad.

Amazon to Raise Fees

SAN FRANCISCO — Amazon investors might have finally heard the news they have been waiting for: The retailer is raising shipping fees. Amazon has 237 million active customers but as a general rule makes almost no profit. Thursday’s announcement that the company was considering raising prices by as much as 50 percent on its $79 Prime shipping program could mean $500 million for its skimpy bottom line. “This is the first time we’ve ever seen Amazon flex its muscles in terms of pricing,” said Gene Munster, an analyst with Piper Jaffray. “It’s hugely significant.”

A sophisticated Manhattan-based prostitution ring that offered "one-stop shopping" and delivered both drugs and debauchery was sacked just days before the Super Bowl. "Always a treat and always fast to your door," Asian Wave Escorts promised in sexy come-ons broadcast on public access TV, sources said. The ring was headed by a middle-aged madam named Hyun Ok Yoonung, a 41-year-old Korean immigrant who officials said is something of a legend in the flesh-peddling business. "She was really the leader," Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Thursday. "This is someone we´ve heard of from other criminals, really sort of admiring the scope of her enterprise.

Gradual exposure to peanut protein powder over six months helped more than half of kids with peanut allergies learn to tolerate the equivalent of about 10 peanuts per day, according to the results of a new clinical trial. The Phase 2 trial also found that the overwhelming majority of kids who tested the experimental therapy were able to eat the equivalent of about five peanuts each day without having an allergic reaction. This led to significant improvements in the quality of life for the families of these children, according to a report published Thursday by the Lancet. Experts estimate that 15

[Breaking news update at 4:00 p.m. ET] An Italian appeals court convicted former exchange student Amanda Knox and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito on murder charges Thursday night. Prosecutors said the couple had killed Meredith Kercher in 2007. They were convicted two years later of murder, but those charges were overturned on appeal in 2011. It is unlikely Knox, who lives in Seattle, Washington, will return to Italy to serve additional prison time because U.S. law dictates that a person cannot be tried twice on the same charge, a legal expert tells CNN.

Obama MyRA proposal unlikely
to boost retirement savings
Los Angeles Times, by Walter Hamilton    Original Article

President Obama´s plan to tackle the U.S. retirement crisis is ambitious and well-intentioned but unlikely to have much of an effect, experts say. In his State of the Union address, Obama proposed a new type of retirement account for the 4 in 10 Americans who don´t have access to 401(k) plans at their jobs. The accounts, dubbed MyRA, would offer guaranteed investment returns, no fees and tax-free profits. But Obama´s proposal rests on a pair of uncertain assumptions: that employers would be willing to offer the accounts and that financially stretched low-income workers would agree to participate in them.

WASHINGTON — Representative Henry A. Waxman of California, a diminutive Democratic giant whose 40 years in the House produced some of the most important legislation of the era, will announce on Thursday that he is retiring at the end of the year. Mr. Waxman, 74, joins the growing list of House members who are calling it quits, many in disappointment over the partisanship and ineffectiveness of a Congress that may end up as the least productive in history. “It’s been frustrating because of the extremism of Tea Party Republicans,” Mr. Waxman said

By now, you may have heard about MyRA. The acronym, which President Barack Obama stumbled over in his State of the Union speech Tuesday night, stands for My Retirement Account. Obama introduced the new plan like this: “MyRA guarantees a decent return with no risk of losing what you put in.” On Wednesday, the administration said it will launch a pilot program of the "new, simple, safe and affordable ‘starter’ retirement savings account” by the end of the year. Bloomberg’s Richard Rubin has the details here. The early verdict: MyRA is intriguing but limited.

Moody´s rating agency has lowered the outlook for health insurers from stable to negative, blaming ObamaCare. Few Americans will shed tears for insurance companies. But the Moody´s announcement is a warning sign to taxpayers. They´ll be getting clobbered. Section 1342 of the Affordable Care Act forces taxpayers to make insurers whole for most of the losses incurred selling ObamaCare exchange plans through 2016. The bailout is designed to conceal the failure of the president´s signature health law until he is out of office. No one in the Obama administration talked up the advantages of bailing out insurers. Labor leaders who have spent months lobbying unsuccessfully for special protections under the Affordable Care Act warned this week that the White House’s continued refusal to help is dampening union support for Democratic candidates in this year’s midterm elections. Leaders of two major unions, including the first to endorse Obama in 2008, said they have been betrayed by an administration that wooed their support for the 2009 legislation with promises to later address the peculiar needs of union-negotiated insurance plans that cover millions of workers.

Christie knew! Christie lied! Those are the allegations from the former Port Authority official who set in motion the September lane closings on the George Washington Bridge that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has insisted he knew nothing about. The charges are plainly stated in a letter to the general counsel of the Port Authority from the lawyer for former Port Authority official David Wildstein. The mystery is why Wildstein and attorney, Alan Zegas, are saying it now. Wildstein clearly is not driven by guilt over having inflicted chaos on so many people over a four-day period that began with the first day of school
