Obviously, education (and just about anything) in Illinois is dismal.

I still say until these students put forth some effort on their own and have parental support at home (ha ha!), they will never succeed. I´m not sure they even want to. Why should they, when they can sit at home and collect EBT cards, free rent, free food, free medical care, Obamaphones, SSI?

I always found I got out of any endeavor EXACTLY WHAT I PUT INTO IT...nothing more, nothing less (B.A. Communications, summa cum laude).

The students should be paid to learn, most certainly to come to school. The schools need upgrading: new buildings, parking lots for student´s cars, computers, internet connections, cell phones, video and game rooms.

That is why we home schooled our children through High School. Illinois may have one of the worst public school systems in the entire country, BUT it has the BEST home schooling laws in the entire country.

Home schools in Illinois have the same legal status as a private school, so the Public Educational system cannot touch us or regulate us in any way.

These laws were set up in the 1950s before the IEA became the monster that it is now.

For the last thirty years the IEA has been trying, in all sorts of crazy ways, to create some kind of a legal distinction between home schools and all the other private schools. The home schoolers in Illinois have been well organized and, so far, have been able to undermine all attempts.

Illinois schools are fine.
(Shh. Don´t tell them the truth. Otherwise the ignorant beasts might move to our relatively civilized cities.)
