Catholic bishops pledge
defiance on HHS mandate

Hot Air, by Ed Morrissey

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 11/14/2012 3:30:17 PM

If the Obama administration hoped that the election results and the narrow split in Barack Obama’s favor among Catholic voters would force the US Conference of Catholic Bishops into retreat on the HHS contraception mandate, the USCCB’s unity yesterday had to be a bit disappointing. The current president of the USCCB announced that the bishops would keep fighting the mandate, and while they were open to dialogue, the only option they will refuse to consider is “capitulation”: A top American bishop said Tuesday the Roman Catholic church will not comply with the Obama administration requirement

A little late to the party!
Leading from behind. The good Bishops have allowed their curates way too much leeway in teaching the Laws of the Church for far too long. Their acceptance of the likes of abortion loving Pelosi, Biden, Kerry, Kennedys into their churches, to receive communion is beyond the pale, and an insult to the intelligence of obedient members.

In addition to noncompliance with HHS, do not foolishly invite a Marxist to the Alfred Smith dinner and play like he is a buddy. Yes, Cardinal Dolan. I am talking to you, with all due respect.

The Church has a mandate from GOD.

They did. Every week at mass, there was a pastoral letter urging that Catholics vote for the faith. trouble is most Catholics never go to church anymore and the media prevents the word from getting out to the masses. Unlike some black churches, the Catholic church does not permit politicking from the pulpit except in ambiguous language.

12 ... I didn´t see "faith" on the ballot. And I didn´t see nor hear words from Cardinal Dolan and his "Beanie Boys" to vote for anyone, but to vote "Your Catholic Concience", which led 54% of Catholics to say yes to Obama.
Black preachers told their people to vote for Obama. God bless them for their honesty. I wonder what God is going to do to Dolan and his boys for their duplicity.

As a Catholic I am horrified when I walk thru the parking lot of our Church and see oblamer bumper stickers on some of the cars. My tendency is to beat the driver about the head and shoulders but my husband usually constrains me.
How can a moral person let alone a so-called Catholic vote for the most ghoulish person ever to occupy the White House---voted 4 times to deny medical treatment for sweet babies that survived a butchering abortion. You can´t get more evil than that.
Yet 50/44 of Catholics voted for this satan.

With you there.....My husband has to break off several of my passionate conversations in our church parking lot. That the snare of the fowler captured 52 % of Catholics makes me weep. I watched some live feed from the Bishops´ conference, and all I can say is they better draw this line now. Cardinal Dolan disappointed me by giving Obama a place of legitimacy at the Al Smith dinner. This very subject should have disqualified his admittance.

Yes, I did hear some feeble mutterings before the election, but nothing strong enough to persuade anyone that we Catholics were dealing with the unholy one. This is a little late in the game and we are down by at least four touchdowns. This Administration would like nothing better than to jail and fine Catholic bishops who refuse to go along with his dictates. The only answer may be to close the Catholic hospitals and schools, which would give this the attention it deserves.

The Obama administration wants to consign the Benghazi terrorist attack to the history books, but this week three State Department officials will tell Congress that the Obama administration’s version of history is false — and that the falsehoods it told the American people were willful and deliberate. One of the whistleblowers, Mark Thompson, deputy coordinator for operations in the State Department’s counterterrorism bureau, was in direct, real-time communication with people on the ground during the Sept. 11, 2012, attack in Libya, before he was locked out of the room. We have seen in the Boston bombings case how terrorists depend on a network of sympathizers. But the Russian connection remains a mystery. The press should follow up on the Russian angle to the Islamic terrorist bombers story before President Obama gets carried away with cooperating with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The assumption by the media that the former KGB officer is genuinely interested in helping the U.S. solve its Islamic terrorism problem should be subjected to scrutiny. After all, al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has been identified by KGB defectors as a Russian agent.

South Carolina’s suspense-filled special election between Republican Mark Sanford and Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch comes to a close Tuesday — and it’s anyone’s guess how it will end. Will enough Republicans hold their noses and vote for Sanford, despite their misgivings about his personal conduct, to put him over the top? Or are there enough energized Democrats in the heavily GOP district to carry the day for Colbert Busch? Colbert Busch seemed to be in the driver’s seat a week ago, but the late momentum has been with Sanford. The race is now so close — a weekend survey

Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others now centers heavily on the State Department and whether officials there deliberately misled the public about the nature of the assault. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.
