David Frum´s passive- aggressive predictability

David Frum has a new book out. It’s short, not particularly interesting and completely predictable. But if you have $4.99 to waste, you can read Frum’s “Why Romney Lost” — his way of saying “I told you so” in three tedious chapters. Frum has been on the outs with conservatives since his 2010 screed against Republicans for not being more willing to work across party lines on health care reform. In that piece, Frum wrote that the “conservative entertainment industry” was the real beneficiary of the passage of President Barack Obama´s landmark health care legislation. Headline split. Source correct to site style.
|
Comments: This guy has been all over the TV this week blaming Rush and Fox News. Any guy that has a book out "Why Romney Lost" less than a week after the election was called was clearly cheering for Obama and I do not see how he could be taken seriously.

How can people say that the Republicans have too many whackos, lunatics and nuts in their party as long as Al Franken is a U.S. Senator? All this means is that Republican leaning states are too smart to elect whackos, lunatics and nuts while the Blue States.....well, just saying.

Frum can´t help himself. He´s an environmentalist. He feels compelled to recycle political advice that was past its sell by date in 1992.

On his Tuesday radio show, conservative talker Mark Levin defended the GOP senators who are threatening to filibuster new gun control laws and argued that any attempt to threaten gun ownership would be unconstitutional. “The Second Amendment belongs to you and me, like the first, like the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth — like the rest of the Constitution,” Levin, the author of “Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America,” said. “It’s not up for grabs. Is the Senate holding a constitutional convention? Well, it looks like it’s just about to.”

On Sean Hannity’s Fox News program earlier this week, Dr. Ben Carson, the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, offered his view on the hot-button issue of the week, same-sex marriage. According to Carson, marriage is defined as between one man and one woman, what he called a “well-established, fundamental pillar of society.” And Carson said this institution could not be redefined by any group, including proponents of bestiality and pedophilia. Invoking those groups drew the ire of many, but Carson went on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” to clarify his remarks,

On Dennis Miller’s radio show on Tuesday, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer warned that while the Cyprus bailout may appear to involve a “trivial” amount of money, it could set the stage for wide-reaching consequences. Krauthammer compared the Cyprus situation to the 1914 assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand, which began the dramatic spiral towards World War I. “The first thing that strikes me is how tiny this whole thing is,” Krauthammer said. “I mean, it could have ripple effects the way, you know, Sarajevo did in 1914. On Wednesday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer said President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have warmer relations now that the president is less naïve. “I think one of the reasons that there is new warmth or an effort to project is [that] Obama has abandoned the naive view he had when he came to office that he could remake the Middle East and restart negotiations, and that there was a realistic chance of actually having an agreement,” Krauthammer said. “And even though there remains a difference over what

Over the last three days, Wisconsin Republican Rep. Paul Ryan, the chairman of the House Budget Committee, has made the media rounds to promote his committee’s version of the House Republicans’ budget proposal. On Hugh Hewitt’s radio show on Tuesday, Ryan was asked about one of his primary detractors, Nobel Prize-winning economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman. Ryan responded by making the case against Keynesian economics and how that type of borrowing and spending could be detrimental if interest rates go back to where they were before the 2008 fiscal crisis. “Well, so I have three certainties

The Washington Post mistook one prostitute for another Monday in a report that initially seemed to debunk a November 2012 Daily Caller exposé of New Jersey Democratic Senator Bob Menendez. While the Post said it had an affidavit from a woman in the Dominican Republic admitting she fabricated claims Menendez paid her for sex, that woman was not one of the two prostitutes TheDC interviewed for a Nov. 1 report. The Post identified the woman as 23-year-old Nexis de los Santos Santana. The Miami Herald similarly reported that de los Santos “was one of two women

He explained to fill-in host Guy Benson that this shows the elected officials think every bit of government is essential. But he also said some of the fiscal mismanagement could stem from a lack of literacy in economics and numbers “You know, what’s crazy about this is that let’s pretend that the officials who are speaking on this, the cabinet secretaries who are coming out and telling us that the world will come to an end tomorrow

On his Thursday podcast, comedian and Fox News contributor Adam Carolla confronted the push for gun control in the wake of December’s tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. His rant, inspired by former Arizona Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ opening remarks before a congressional committee on Wednesday, focused on the racial component of gun control. According to Carolla, the author of “Not Taco Bell Material,” the calls for gun control only come when it happens somewhere besides inner-city urban areas. “Listen, here’s the deal,” Carolla said. “It’s nice. It’s not going to do anything, but it’s nice.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is known for his hard-charging persona when it comes to getting what he wants politically. But Buzzfeed’s Michael Hastings is now alleging that the former White House chief of staff “crossed the line” by physically assaulting him during an interview. On Thursday’s broadcast of Cenk Uygur’s “The Young Turks” on Current TV, Hastings played an audio recording of a verbal exchange he had with Emanuel that came on the heels of his 2010 Rolling Stone article “The Runway General,” which resulted in the termination of then- Gen. Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), one of the architects of the Affordable Care Act, said on Tuesday that the healthcare law, set to go into full effect in less than eight months, is “probably the most complex piece of legislation ever passed by the United States Congress” and “is just beyond comprehension.” Rockefeller said he is concerned that early missteps with implementing the healthcare overhaul may cascade into confusion and chaos. The law, said Rockefeller, is “so complicated and if it isn’t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse.” Rockefeller’s consternation echoes comments made earlier this

They say they were just doing what the boss trained them to do. But eight former employees of a run-down West Philadelphia abortion clinic now face prison time for the work they did for Dr. Kermit Gosnell. Three have pleaded guilty to third-degree murder. And Gosnell, 72, is on trial in the deaths of a patient and seven babies allegedly born alive. In testimony at the capital murder trial this past month, an unlicensed doctor and untrained aides described long, chaotic days at the clinic. They said they performed grueling, often gruesome work for little more than minimum wage,

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

In the opening sequence Rod Serling informs us: "A monster had arrived in the village. Just by using his mind, he took away the automobiles, the electricity, the machines -- because they displeased him -- and he moved an entire community back into the dark ages -- just by using his mind. . . . and the people there have to smile. On Thursday, in the midst of ongoing national debate over prospective gun control and comprehensive immigration legislation, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that he didn’t need the approval of a majority of his own party to move forward with legislation. Referring to the so-called Hastert Rule, named after former House Speaker Denny Hastert (R-IL), which dictated that House leadership not bring up any bill for a vote without the support of a majority of the majority party, Boehner said, “Listen: It was never a rule to begin with.” Then, realizing the gravity of admitting

TALLAHASSEE - Picture this: You´re in the left lane of the interstate, driving a little below the speed limit, when some guy zips up behind you and swerves past you on the right. Then you notice the blue lights flashing. You´re savoring the satisfaction of seeing a trooper actually nab an aggressive driver — until you realize it´s you he´s pulling over. This could happen, if not very often, under a major transportation package expected to be taken up in the Senate Appropriations Committee next week. Introduced by Sen. Jeff Brandes, a St. Petersburg Republican, the bill is a 173-page

A few hours after Margaret Thatcher´s death on Monday, the snarling deadbeats of the British underclass were gleefully rampaging through the streets of Brixton in South London, scaling the marquee of the local fleapit and hanging a banner announcing, "THE B@&$! IS DEAD." Amazingly, they managed to spell all four words correctly. By Friday, "Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead," from "The Wizard of Oz," was the No. 1 download at Amazon UK. Mrs. Thatcher would have enjoyed all this. Her former speechwriter John O´Sullivan recalls how, some years after leaving office, she
