A White House petition gathering force calls for citizenship to be stripped and exile for anyone who signs a petition in favor of a state´s secession. "Mr. President, please sign an executive order such that each American citizen who signed a petition from any state to secede from the USA shall have their citizenship stripped and be peacefully deported," the full petition reads. The title of the petition is, "WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO: Strip the Citizenship from Everyone who Signed a Petition to Secede and Exile Them." As of this writing, 2,205 have signed the petition;

The headline is deceiving. It implies that the White House issued this petition but that is not the case. Someone else issued the petition and is asking White House to bless it.

23 States are quite a lot. Yes we are that scared of this administration especially now that it considers itself unfettered by Congress. Just ask Pres. Jarrett.

They can´t round up and deport those who are here illegally now. How do the people putting forth this petition think the gov´t is going to strip citizenship and deport those who signed the secession petitions? Maybe they think the gov´t has an arsenal of black helicopters to round up people, but they forget Obama has cut military spending back so far we´re lucky we can get a helicopter to fly David Petraeus to DC to testify before Congress about Benghazi!

They want the president to be a dictator with the power to make executive orders that do anything they want, to include stripping people of their citizenship. How about a petition stating that anyone who signs a petition denying citizens the right to petition be denied their citizenship and their right to petition. Further any illegal alien who signs ANY petition be sent immediately to their homeland and/or Kenya.

A little history: In the 1950´s and early 60´s the US Dept of State used to take away the citizenship of American expats for the crime of remaining outside the US for more than 5 continuous years. In the mid-60´s the courts ruled that native-born Americans did not receive their citizenship from the government and that therefore the government could not take away that citizenship.

It says the petition signers should be deported. Normally, when someone is deported, it is to their country of origin. If you were born in the USA, where would they send you?

There is a flaw in their logic. "Mr. President" doesn´t exist. Therefore, any action taken by him in the past 4 years or in the 4 years in the future is as illegal as he is.

This talk about secession is getting more stupid as it expands. The most stupid statement has got to be about stripping the citizenship of anyone signing a petition. There´s no basis in law for that and in my opinion that would infringe on the signers freedom of speed rights. A petition is only a request for something to be done.

Secondly, I have seen posts that Texas has the right to secede. That is can´t be true. Texas tried that in the 1860´s and was on the losing side of the war that settled the question of a state´s right to secede.

The special right that only Texas has is that it can split into five states. That would add four states to country and get present day Texas eight more Senators. That right was granted to Texas at the time it was admitted to the Union in 1845.

As posted earlier my opinion of secession by any state would be like curing a headache with the guillotine. I restate that opinion here.
