| NASCAR pledged it wouldn´t render immediate judgment on Jeff Gordon for his role in wrecking Clint Bowyer and upending the end of Sunday´s Phoenix race. But officials didn´t wait much longer, handing down a decision on Monday evening: a fine of $100,000 and a 25-point penalty. i am a long time jeff gordon fan and believe both he and bowyer should have been suspended for this last race. this is the last race of the season. give everybody a chance to cool off til february.
gordon deserves everything he gets but bowyer is not without any culpability here. it was his crew after all that ran over to gordon and mugged him, setting off the brawl

Long time, huge Gordon fan but had to let him go when he spent most of his time in his miserable AARP sponsored car. That said, happy to see him and Bowyer not suspended for the last race. Don´t need replacement drivers in their cars in the title-deciding race.
Keselowski got my attention in the Nationwide Series, IMO he´s the most natural, instinctive NASCAR driver in a long time. Fifteenth or better at Homestead guarantees a championship for Bad Brad and the Captain Penske. Icing on the cake, no sixth for JJ this year and Gordon´s boss Hendrick.

Gordon already admitted the wreck was intentional and done for revenge, so there´s no doubt about that.
What´s sick is that NASCAR loves this kind of stuff, they know they get more people watching when they get more wrecks + drama. They´ll probably give both drivers a secret bonus under the table for pumping up the ratings this way.

Gordon had a good car and was taken out of contention by Bowyer and not for the first time this year. He got what he deserved. Sorry about Logano who got caught up in the mess.
Who should be fined are the NASCAR officials who didn´t throw the caution immediately leaving Danica Patrick a sitting duck for the next driver who could avoid her broken car. (Thanks to Burton who slammed into her after entering the corner way too fast. He should be fined too for reckless driving.)
But it sure made it an interesting day!

#15, Kyle was suspended for purposely spinning out another driver like Gordon did.
With a history of trouble, Kurt was booted out of Penske Racing last year for shooting the finger at a vehicle carrying Michelle Obama. Yep.

I fear the collateral damage the NSA´s spying via technology will do to that technology. The essential problem is not the internet or internet companies or even the spies. The real problem is the law and what it does not prevent the American government from doing with technology, and how it does not protect the principles upon which this nation was founded. A man was mauled by a bear near the Eklutna Lake Campground on Saturday after he threw barbecued meat at the animal, the Alaska State Troopers said Sunday. The man was at the lake, north of Anchorage, for a church picnic, said Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen. (Snip) The man threw a piece of meat at the bear, which ate it, she said. Then he offered another piece, she said. “That’s when it kind of went ballistic,” she said. The bear attacked the man, puncturing skin along his jaw and leaving him with scratches on his back, Ipsen said.

Fifty years ago today, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that school-sponsored Bible reading in public schools was unconstitutional. Prior to that decision, it was relatively common for children to begin the school day with a reading of Bible verses, though eleven states already had laws supporting Bible reading or prayer in schools overturned at the state level. Abington School District v. It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.

Washington - The Supreme Court says states cannot require would-be voters to prove they are U.S. citizens before using a federal registration system designed to make signing up easier. The justices voted 7-2 to throw out Arizona´s voter-approved requirement that prospective voters document their U.S. citizenship in order to use a registration form produced under the federal "Motor Voter" voter registration law. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said that the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, which doesn´t require such documentation, trumps Arizona´s Proposition 200 passed in 2004.
