Face of US changing;
elections to look different

Associated Press, by Nancy Benac & Connie Cass

Original Article

Washington - It´s not just the economy, stupid. It´s the demographics - the changing face of America. The 2012 elections drove home trends that have been embedded in the fine print of birth and death rates, immigration statistics and census charts for years. America is rapidly getting more diverse, and, more gradually, so is its electorate. Nonwhites made up 28 percent of the electorate this year, compared with 20 percent in 2000. Much of that growth is coming from Hispanics. The trend has worked to the advantage of President Barack Obama two elections in a row now and is not lost on Republicans

Comments:
Funny, I don´t remember voting to change the demographics of America. An increase in non-white voters (mainly Hispanic) of 8% in just 10 years? I wonder who we can thank for this?

We have absorbed wave after wave of immigrants. That is not the issue. The issue is reaching out to them, so they understand why we are fighting so hard to preserve the very country they wisely chose to immigrate to.

We filter out the highly skilled and productive through a labyrinthine imigration process and then open the gates to los pobres de la tierra.

Don´t let the opposition define your stance on immigration. Always say you are anti-ILLEGAL immigration, not anti-immigration. The attitude immigrants are slugs is the attitude what did Romney in.

As it now stands, many want free stuff no matter where they come from including non-hispanic countries. This trend needs to be reveresed.

One thing. The dems OWN the free stuff stuff. Always put that on their plate, its theirs. When we go Greece, we know who to blame.

I work in a primarily hispanic area in California. I think ROmney/GOP did a pretty good job defending why supporting job creators is important, but they didn´t--and we haven´t--really sold it to the "new demographic." For some reason, we think merely mentioning the virtue is enough to connect with the electorate.

We believe in self-interest!!!! So, we have to sell why capitalism is better for YOUR (every sector of the electorate) self-interest than a free phone and food stamps is.

Skin color again. The Left is obsessed with it. And the Left is determined to assign every American to a group, all of whose members think and behave alike. This, of course, is stereotyping, prejudice and bigotry. Americans are not defined by the color of their skin or their ethnic backgrounds. They are defined by belief in and adherence to a common core of cultural and moral values. These values have been under sustained attack by the institutional Left, beginning in academia, for half a century. The threat to America is not how many people have a certain skin color. That is simple racism and bigotry. The threat to America comes from the failure of our institutions of culture to embrace and transmit American values to fresh generations and those who emigrate to America in search of a better and more prosperous life. The Leftist establishment has long been busy killing the goose that lays the golden egg, entirely without understanding what they are doing. Like children, they imagine that the world that was here when they arrived in it just happened, made itself somehow, and will continue to sustain itself without effort on their part. They think they can tinker with it and improve it without the slightest understanding of how it works.

The case of the phantom ballots:
an electoral whodunit
Miami Herald, by Patricia Mazzei    Original Article

The first phantom absentee ballot request hit the Miami-Dade elections website at 9:11 p.m. Saturday, July 7. The next one came at 9:14. Then 9:17. 9:22. 9:24. 9:25. Within 2½ weeks, 2,552 online requests arrived from voters who had not applied for absentee ballots. They streamed in much too quickly for real people to be filling them out. They originated from only a handful of Internet Protocol addresses. And they were not random. It had all the appearances of a political dirty trick, a high-tech effort by an unknown hacker to sway three key Aug. 14 primary elections,

While giving Senate testimony regarding Benghazi on Feb. 7, Sec. of Defense Leon Panetta said Obama was not present nor did he communicate with the Sec. of Defense during the Benghazi attack. Panetta was answering questions from Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) when he made it clear he had no communication with Obama outside the normal, "pre-scheduled" 5 p.m. meeting on September 11. When asked if Obama at least called to check in as the attack unfolded Panetta said "No." When asked if anyone from the White House called that night, Panetta said "No." According to Panetta, the President trusted that

Ann Arbor, Mich. - Want to see how quickly the look and business model of American public universities are changing? Visit a place like Indiana University. Five years ago, there were 87 undergraduates from China on its idyllic, All-American campus in Bloomington. This year: 2,224. New figures out Monday show international enrollment at U.S. colleges and universities grew nearly 6 percent last year, driven by a 23-percent increase from China, even as total enrollment was leveling out. But perhaps more revealing is where much of the growth is concentrated: big, public land-grant colleges, notably in the Midwest.

Banging on pots, tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Argentina yesterday to protest against a possible third term for President Cristina Kirchner. "Yes to democracy, no to re-election" chanted the flag-waving demonstrators, who also took issue with rampant corruption and crime in the South American country. (Snip) She succeeded her husband, Nestor, who died of a heart attack in 2010. She is currently barred by the Argentine constitution from running for a third consecutive term in 2015, but her supporters in congress have been lobbying for a constitutional amendment.

A Pennsylvania judge is issuing an order to reinstate Republican election officials across Philadelphia who allegedly were ejected or refused entry by on-site Democratic voting chief judges, GOP officials tell Fox News. One Republican official claimed that "just under 70" Republican election officials were blocked from Philadelphia polling sites Tuesday morning by Democrats on site. One of them, the official claimed, "was shoved out of the polling place." "For this many inspectors to be ejected from polling places is rare, even for Philadelphia," the official told FoxNews.com. Housing construction numbers for September were “blowout” and “smashed consensus,” according to analysts who follow the sector. Single family starts rose 11 percent from August and are up nearly 43 percent from a year ago. This from the depths of the housing recession. Multi-family starts and permits, however, garnered a different headline: “Headline Risk as Data Cross 10-year Averages,” came the report from Cantor Fitzgerald. Building permits for multi-family buildings, which means five units or more, and which will be rental buildings, not condos, jumped 93.4 percent from a year ago to 323,000, which is above the 10-year average

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
