Losing Can Be Liberating
Weekly Standard, by William Kristol

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 11/12/2012 9:23:32 AM

After his defeat in Britain’s 1945 general election, Winston Churchill’s wife Clementine consoled him: “It may well be a blessing in disguise.” Churchill replied, “At he moment it seems quite effectively disguised.” As do any blessings to be found in last Tuesday’s election result. The country faces four more years of Barack Obama in the Oval Office, with an increased Democratic majority in the Senate, as a debt crisis bears down upon us at home and our enemies ramp up their efforts abroad. One hopes, for the sake of the country, that on some key issues the president can be persuaded to do the right

Comments:
Really?? This is the last thing I feel right now. I know what´s coming from this criminal enterprise of the 0bama regime. And it´s certainly not liberation.

The only thing that will be liberated is wealth out of the private economy.

Let Progressive leadership play out over the next two election cycles (2014 & 2016).

If they come up with solutions, Bravo!

If they don´t, "They ´Built´ that" with the votes of 28% of the America people.

When one has hope one is always on edge, always trying. When one sees that the worst is going to happen and there is nothing to be done about it, resignation sets in and the uneven struggle ceases.

We can no longer believe that if we only try hard enough we can save our Republic. Or, I can´t anyway. For me, all responsibility now rests with the Democrats. There is a certain amount of liberation in washing one´s hands and turning away. I´ll be 91 next month. Time to give up.

I suspect Obama knows what the "right things" are but that he is psychologically incapable of doing them. The only "right thing" is whatever he thinks it should be. He´s a true psychopath.

Obama Was Right About Everything

In the late summer of 2013, a series of videos began to surface on the internet which showed the bloody Syrian civil war had taken a turn toward the unspeakable. The videos revealed images of young men foaming at the mouth; the bodies of children, contorted and discolored; the floors of makeshift hospitals covered with bodies of civilians that died of an apparent chemical weapons attack. In the days that followed, American officials and independent observers confirmed that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had committed a flagrant violation of international norms and used Sarin gas against civilian targets. The Internal Revenue Servicehas revoked the tax-exempt status of a conservative charity for making statements critical of Hillary Rodham Clinton and John Kerry, according to a USA Today report. The Patrick Henry Center for Individual Liberty, based in Manassas, Va., “has shown a pattern of deliberate and consistent intervention in political campaigns” and made “repeated statements supporting or opposing various candidates by expressing its opinion of the respective candidate’s character and qualifications,” according to a written determination released Friday by the IRS. Michelle Obama:

Washington - Michelle Obama said "splurging is the key to life" if you regularly eat right and stay active. Her biggest guilty pleasure: French fries. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries." The first lady took questions from children reporters Monday after appearing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. She told the children that if they eat right the majority of the time, then a splurge or snack is not going to hurt them. "I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.

When it comes to immigration, many Republican members of the House have long distrusted their leader, Speaker John Boehner. Now, things have gotten even worse. Boehner has assured members who oppose comprehensive immigration reform that nothing will be done on the issue until the Obama administration "can be trusted to enforce our laws." Given the average GOP Congressman´s view of Barack Obama, that means "never." That´s certainly how many members interpreted the speaker´s words. Sign Up for the Byron York newsletter! California is proposing to ban members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) from serving as judges because the Boy Scouts do not allow gay troop leaders, The Daily Caller has learned. In a move with major legal implications, The California Supreme Court Advisory Committee on The Code of Judicial Ethics has proposed to classify the Boy Scouts as practicing “invidious discrimination” against gays, which would end the group’s exemption to anti-discriminatory ethics rules and would prohibit judges from being affiliated with the group. “The Committee’s invitation ignores the fact that the change also encompasses other youth organizations whose

Former CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson has been very vocal about how CBS pushed back on reports she did critical of the Obama administration. On CNN’s Reliable Sources Sunday, Attkisson went after both her former network and Media Matters; the former for muzzling stories and the latter for targeting her. Attkisson has repeatedly argued that while CBS didn’t really get in her way when it came to covering issues critical of George W. Bush, bus when it came to the same with President Obama, she was called a “troublemaker” and sensed a chilling effect for journalists everywhere. CBS responded today in a

Members of the intelligence community are now forbidden from unapproved contact with reporters, according to a memo issued last month by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. The March directive, obtained by the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) Project on Government Secrecy, says members of the intelligence community “must obtain authorization for contacts with the media” regarding intelligence matters. While the directive refers to intelligence matters, it makes no distinction between classified or unclassified information. The memo forbids unauthorized “contact with the media about intelligence-related information, including intelligence sources, methods, activities, and judgments (hereafter, ‘covered matters’).”

The Obama administration unfroze Iranian assets totaling $550 million on April 10 and another $450 million on April 15. The United States has now released $2.55 billion to Iran since February, when the scheduled cash infusions first began. The cash releases were contingent upon Iran halting some aspects of its nuclear program and scaling back its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium, the key component in a nuclear weapon. Global sea levels have risen by 8 inches (20cm) since 1880 and scientists predict they could rise up to 3ft (98cm) by 2100. But despite the UN’s recent threats of war, famine and extreme weather, such a dramatically different world caused by sea level rise can be hard to imagine. Rather than labeling Hasan’s actions “domestic terrorism,” the Obama administration is prosecuting him for having committed “workplace violence.” Democratic rhetoric is become ever more desperate and overheated as we approach the November midterm elections. Perhaps the most remarkable feature of American democracy is the magnificent estate of public land that it reserved from the very beginning for the use of all citizens, rich or poor. There is nothing like it in the democracies of Europe, which came into being with nations already carved up into private fiefdoms. The Great Idea that hundreds of millions of acres of forests, deserts, rivers and prairies should be owned by, and managed for, the public interest has had a profound and lasting influence on American culture. Wouldn´t some suspect that the scientists who raised these claims were driven by something—ideology, tobacco money—other than science? Yet in the current discussions about increased inequality, few researchers, fewer reporters, and no one in the executive branch of government directly addresses what seems to be the strongest statistical correlate of inequality in the United States: the rise of single-parent

What are the chances that Bernardine Dohrn, the wife of Bill Ayres, and a principal signatory on the Weather Underground´s "Declaration of a State of War" in May 1970 could be appointed as a judge in a Federal Court? Dohrn graduated with honors with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago and subsequently graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. Until August 2013, she was a clinical Associate Professor of Law at Northwestern University School of Law. Bernardine Dohrn´s resume is almost as appealing as the President´s resume when he was elected to the presidency.
