Re-elected, Obama takes aim at religious liberty

| As an old saw has it, "your right to swing your fist ends at the tip of my nose." The Obama administration says your right to live as a Christian ends if you go into business. Democrats are crowing about a second Obama term, and the Left´s culture-war troops are emboldened by their trouncing of social conservatives. Religious conservatives need to plant their spears and brace for the coming federal assault on religious liberty. The Obama administration this month, in defending its health plan´s contraception mandate, articulated a narrow view of the First Amendment´s religious liberty protections.
|
Comments: I wasn´t aware of all the nasty comments from tolerant liberals from Mother Jones, The WaPo religion writer, etc. We´re allowed to believe ( for now), just don´t talk about it, because our belief offends liberals. We are in for some dark days ahead, which makes Christian support of Obama all the more baffling.

The morning after the election three black ladies stood in the office of my school and sang, "Let the church say Amen, God has spoken", over and over and over. I was absolutely disgusted - then I thought, yes, God has spoken, but I don´t think He said what they think He said.
How "church" people can support a party that stands against so many biblical principals and stands against our religious liberties is beyond me - they put skin color above all else - and I wonder just how many of the black churches really teach Rev. Wright´s theology!!!
I used to help one of the women with her many church projects (designing and printing labels, invitations, tickets for fund raisers, etc.) and donate all my time and materials - guess what - NO MORE!!! This showed me what I was contributing to and it ENDED WEDNESDAY MORNING, NOV. 7.

Cry me a river. The so-called faithful voted for an anti-religious candidate and the lunatic social conservatives gave the Senate back to Harry Reid. At least the Islamicists live the courage of their convictions. No wonder Muslims are gaining converts throughout Europe. Next up, the Catholics will cut a deal on Obamacare. Sure, they´ll have to perform abortions and euthanize the elderly and sick, but then they´ll be able to concentrate on what is really important - social justice.

This has been coming since the passing of Obamacare. Now the Catholic Church will be forced to decide whether their schools and hospitals will obey the dictates of this law or whether they will surrender their beliefs.

Cardinal George in Chicago pointed to the diocesan directory with pages listing charitable institutions saying those pages will be blank unless the mandate is overturned. I would hope he sticks with this. Obama may want to take over all charitable work but it will have all the success of the green economy ( Solyndra etc ) Even if the government buys out all the Catholic hospital facilities at a discount price they can never operate them as efficiently because there is no substitute for dedication. Put a Unionized Civil Service staff running the hospitals after they manage to run the post office well. This is another part of Obamacare with coverage for all and treatment for none.

#3 Wish you knew who you were supplying the free goodies to prior to the election. But all of us are suckers in one way or the other. My tithing decreased significantly to our parish when we realized the majority went to social justice programs for the "inner cities" who in turn are spreading propaganda to the minority communities. Our money will go directly to a person or family that we can help immediately. Christmastime gives us alot of openings to do just that.

Sen. Marco Rubio’s chief of staff Cesar Conda went on a Twitter spree this morning, insisting that the best way to evaluate immigration reform is through “dynamic scoring,” and noting that some “ignore [Jack] Kemp’s teachings” when they cling to static scoring. In other words, Conda is arguing we shouldn’t just look at the costs associated with immigration reform, but also factor in ex ante benefits.Rubio spokesman Alex Conant explained it this way: “This legislation will create millions of new taxpayers,

President Obama´s decision last year to allow young people living in the U.S. illegally to stay and work marked the biggest shift in immigration policy in decades, hailed as a landmark step toward the American dream for a generation of immigrants. But months later, many immigrants are having vastly different reactions to the change depending on where they live, and they aren´t flocking to the program at the levels the government originally expected. A handful of Republican-led states are blocking basic benefits for those in the program, denying beneficiaries identification cards, driver´s licenses,

On Easter Sunday, Google is honoring the birthday of the late labor organizer Cesar Chavez by placing a Chavez portrait within the middle “o” of the Google logo that appears on the homepage of the popular search engine. While Google frequently decorates its logo to celebrate various holidays and special events, it is unclear why the company chose specifically to honor Chavez’s birthday, instead of Easter Sunday. Chavez co-founded the organization now known as the United Farm Workers union (UFW). He became an iconic figure in the labor movement, with his stature only increasing since his death

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
