All In, Benghazi edition
Power Line, by Scott Johnson

Original Article

A reader points out that Paula Broadwell was the honored keynote speaker at a University of Denver event last month. The speech is obviously of interest in light of the revelation of her involvement with General Petraeus, whom she discusses in her speech. One of the questions following her speech alludes to her interest in becoming the National Security Advisor. At about 35:00, Broadwell herself specifically discusses the terrorist attack in Benghazi and General Petraeus’s response. She claims there were “militia prisoners” at the annex whose presence might have precipitated the attack. If true, this appears to raise the question

Possibly what precipitated the attack was that the Islamists knew that General P. was getting more women than they were!

Perhaps this speech is why the administration brought out the affair. She appears to include information pointing to poor judgement at best, possibly crimes against the administration. The outing of Petraeus and Broadwell is certainly punishment for telling the facts. What an amazing find! As she indicated, now Petraeus is free to reveal the truth.

I always wondered why Petraeus was so quiet during the whole 6 weeks while his agency was being attacked and blamed. You had a CIA office right there,it only makes sense he would know what was going on there.

The real disgrace is all this coming out to help Obama hide a terrible scandal in which 4 Americans died.

It is common knowledge and my personal experience that when Jihadi prisoners are taken.....the camp where they are being held is very often rocketed immediately in an attempt to kill the prisoners before they talk.

The Jihadis think we have special bad magic that will make you talk.

....and they are right.

Wow! Why wasn´t this reported at the time? It´s becoming obvious that there was a cover-up and that the CIA was involved. But the video story was just so obviously bogus that whoever decided to go with that should have known it wouldn´t hold up to scrutiny. CIA involvement or not, when our ambassador is murdered in a terrorist attack, we need the truth.

She certainly was spilling a lot of beans of her own even as she fretted over loss of sources and methods. She was rolling out the intel, blabbing away, unable to keep her mouth shut. And Petraeus stupidly told her! And why did she do it? Why, to be a star, to bask in the spotlight as someone with insider knowledge unlike anyone else´s. Her own vanity, actually.

Lucky America. Yeah, I think she spilled enough to justify the calling of Petraeus to testify. He was certainly happy to tell her - now he can tell the rest of us.

Are we gullibly sucking up something that reeks of a White House propaganda production?

Reportedly, in late October an FBI whistleblower informed House majority leader Eric Cantor (R) about the affair. Cantor had learned of the whistleblower from a Republican House Rep. Which begs the question: When did Obama know?

Broadwell was CIA Director Petraeus’s biographer and perhaps confidante, and was herself a former intel officer. That means she should have known better than to spill intel.

And that makes me wonder WHO told Broadwell what to say . . . which included absolving Obama and Clinton of having blamed the Muslim video:

(From the article)

“If you remember at the time, the Muslim video, the Mohammed video that came out, the demonstrations that were going on in Cairo, there were demonstrations in 22 other countries around the world, tens of thousands of people, and our government was very concerned that this was going to become a nightmare for us,” she said.

“So you can understand if you put yourselves in his shoes or Secretary Clinton’s shoes or the President’s shoes, that we thought it was tied somehow to the demonstrations in Cairo. . . .”

The date Broadwell speechified about ‘Benghazi-and-the-Video’ was October 26 — the approximate date Eric Cantor was told about the Petraeus-Broadwell liaison. At that time, the Campaigner-in-Chief was under heavy fire for blaming that video and for his blackout of information, his refusal to answer questions about the “stand down” command(s).

While being her own PR person she was obviously laying out some information that has not otherwise been reported to the public in her speech, was that information classified or restricted, and if so did her audience have a need to know? She certainly is as close to General Petraeus as one can be!

Throngs of former administration officials, members of Congress and others descended Friday on College Station, Tex., to fete former president George H.W. When has a secretary of state been involved in so many disastrous, self-initiated negotiations? First, John Kerry convenes — against all advice and holding no cards — Geneva negotiations to resolve the Syria conflict and supposedly remove Bashar al-Assad from power. The talks collapse in acrimony and confusion. Kerry’s response? A second Geneva conference that — surprise! — breaks up in acrimony and confusion. Then, even as Russian special forces are taking over Crimea, Kerry goes chasing after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov — first to Paris, then Rome, then London — offering a diplomatic “offramp.” Lavrov shrugs him off.

President Obama campaigned in Michigan with Dem Senate candidate Gary Peters, making the case for a hike in the federal minimum wage to $10.10. If lawmakers tackle the issue forthrightly, they have some workable options. The court eliminated an overall limit on how much donors could give to candidates, parties and various other committees over the course of an election cycle. The idea had been to
