Disgrace: Barack Obama Broke
Promise to Honor Cold

Breitbart Big Government, by Joel B. Pollak

President Barack Obama once promised, as a U.S. Senator, to honor veterans of the Cold War, who have never received official recognition and are therefore prevented from full participation in many Veterans Day celebrations. But he never fulfilled that promise--neither in the Senate nor the White House--leaving Cold War veterans in the cold. This weekend, the Wall Street Journal documented the promise, made in 2006 to Frank Almquist, an Illinois constituent who had served in the Army in the 1980s. A medal for Cold War veterans seemed "appropriate," Obama wrote, and wrote that he hoped "this impasse

If you are waiting for Barak Obama to keep his promises - you must be stupid enough to vote for him.

An oral promise is legally good for a year, if you can prove it, and if you relied on it, which no one would since it came from a politician. The premise is weak, and to publish that Obama is a liar, is not new and is well known and understood.

Throw it on the stack with the other broken promises.

I doubt that a promise of recognition from him would be very valued by most cold war veterans.

Did you hear his empty words at Arlington? He wants to do so much for veterans and active duty, he cares so much, he and Michelle and Dr. Biden (exactly what is she a doctor of?) yet Obama wants to cut a trillion dollars from defense. Where do you think that trillion dollars will come from?

Back about ten years ago, I read about a web site where I could get my cold war medal. It had been authorized by the government, but when I went to the web site, it had been taken down.
(I wanted the medal just to see what it looked like, I was not trying to pull a Jon Cary.)

I cannot believe the number of people whose parents served in the military, or those, themselves, who served in the military and spit on their own uniforms and on the graves of our dead to vote for this guy.

He hates America and he hates our Military. He condones them when it´s a photo op. Otherwise he ignores them.

I thought military people were smarter than that. Since they want to spit on the graves, uniform and Constitution perhaps we should return the favor and spit on the traitors. Extra points for using chewing tobacco.

Reply 11 - Posted by: bighambone, 11/11/2012 3:07:57 PM     (No. 9007489)

Obviously the Obama crew made a political calculation regarding this issue, and determined that there would be no political advantage that Obama could garner by spending time and energy honoring veterans of the so-called Cold War, as the plurality of those veterans were probably going to vote against Obama anyway. If the cold War veterans were a recognized Obama constituency group like say Hispanic voters or illegal aliens are, it would probably be a different story.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama said he’d been looking forward to a White House celebration of Memphis soul music for one reason. “Let’s face it, who does not love this music?” he asked Tuesday, opening the night’s concert in an East Room bathed in amber light and transformed by the addition of a stage and backup musicians. “These songs get us on the dance floor,” Obama said. “They get stuck in our heads. Hundreds of lucky state employees are opting to jump into retirement before they hit age 50 thanks to loopholes in the law, a Herald review of the latest pension report shows. In the past three years, there have been 475 state workers who retired before age 50 — going into their golden years with full pensions for some and partial payouts for others, a Herald review found. New reforms went into effect for state workers hired after April 2, 2012. Those reforms included increasing the retirement age for new hires and an “anti-spiking” clause preventing future retirees

Actually, she is backing off. Here’s the thing about her now-famous MSNBC promo: Either she’s saying something radical or she’s saying something so banal that it’s barely even worth saying. The radical interpretation is that she thinks parents should have less say over how their children are raised and that “communities” should have a larger role. The very, very banal interpretation is that she thinks communities should do more to improve children’s lives and that thinking of them as “our children” might help forge that mentality. The money line in the promo that pointed to the radical interpretation

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
