Allow me to be the first to point out that this little tidbit may be the key to explaining how this affair unraveled. My assessment (and I´m in the computer services business) is that it was in fact MR., not Mrs., Broadwell who tapped into the general´s Gmail account. He likely was getting suspicious and decided to check out (or ironically, embed with surveillance software) her computer. Then, once in, he discovered who her secret correspondent/lover was and started sending the harassing emails which alerted the FBI. Secret lovers don´t send harassing emails. Their spouses do.

#1, just how would that work, if she was only receiving his emails and not using his account to post?

I can think of no good reason why Broadwell, much less her husband, would have access to Petraeus´ account, and for that matter Petraeus even using a Gmail account, is a massive breach of security, so great it is nearly unbelievable.

I doubt everything about this story, including that we´ve even heard a fraction of it, but if even what we´ve heard is largely true, it is really heroically and historically stupid.

Paula Broadwell is a Democrat and active at this year´s DNC. I have suspicion that she was offered assurances that her proposed book on Petraeus would be published. And to help her gather material for this biography, she was quickly embedded with the general (is that sexist?) to develop source material for what would be a warmly praised book.

The shrewd Obama and Val Jar had feeling that a much younger, still attractive woman would arouse the general stationed outside Kabul. Petraeus succumbed, and the affair became the black mail device to keep him from resigning earlier over Obama´s failures in Iraq and Afghanistan and over Obama´s false claims that al-Qaeda was finished. Chicago, that scandalous town.

Security? What security? All these teenage radicals in charge of america and we worry about security. There is no security at all.

This Petraeus story is strange to the point of being almost unbelievable. The more information that comes out the more it strains credulity.

Is it possible that this woman, or someone, hacked his personal email account and entered compromising messages, and that all of this is a huge lie???

It was a bit surprising that he even accepted the position as CIA Director. This woman was writing the book about him while he was in Afghanistan, and had ample access to do all sorts of harm. She supposedly broke off the affair shortly after he became CIA Director. Then, he supposedly sent countless emails pursuing a continued relationship with her. Now this.

Samson, and King David of old are evidence enough that there is nothing new about mighty men doing senseless and awful things for lust and love. But, there is something about this that seems odd. I just hope when all is said and done that General Petraeus will do like Samson and King David and heed the call to honor and integrity.
If we ever needed honorable people to stand for God and country, it is now.

In this case it should be called G-Spot Mail....

Poor General Petraeus threw away his reputation by succumbing to a harlots/or his enticements.Gen. Petraeus discarded all his years of military discipline for a peace of tail, so to speak. One has to wonder what the hell he was thinking of, being the CIA Director...with all of his skulduggery hanging over his head and his countries to????? He lost his soul and honor forever in doing so here.

With all due respect to Ms. Broadwell, what this story most resembles is Hugh Grant chasing hookers on Hollywood Blvd.

You´d think they could do a lot better just by snapping their fingers, and with a lot less downside.

If Petraeus´ prive Gmail account is a national security issue to the feds, then Jarret´s, the Hildebeast, and every other thug in the administration who has any private e-mail account needs to be combed with a fine-tooth comb.
