Why didn´t he confront his wife and Petraeus rather than sending a letter to "Dear Abby"? I´d have given her something to write about!!

Normal people do not write Dear Abby type letters at all, much less to the NYT. I suspect a hoax.

I can´t imagine a man worthy of the name asking the New York Times what he should do about his cheating wife.

It´s an amusing speculation, but this letter could be about any number of people--provided it´s even legit. I suspect a lot of "advice" columnists make up their material. Sometimes it´s entirely too pat.

Petraeus will be avenged within the next 90 days. He is a warrior and a fighter and a wild horse rider.

The affair supposedly ended in 2011, so this letter is suspect. Agree w/ others - it´s probably something made up to titallate readers of the column.

How about this ? President Zero tells Petraeus that if Petraeus will take the bullet on Benghazi, Zero will guarantee a presidential pardon, and no reduction in rank which would affect his pension?

I don´t buy it - at all. The journo´s husband is a radiologist in Charlotte. Why on earth would he write an anonymous letter to a NY newspaper? And what would this line mean:

´´He is engaged in work that I am passionate about and is absolutely the right person for the job.´´

Doc is passionate about the CIA? The military? I call hoax at worst, multiple cuckolded husbands at best. Remember - power is the strongest aphrodisiac and nowhere else on earth is there more perceived power than in DC...

IMO Chi-Choom gang was blackmailing to keep Petraus in line with their story and he told them to stuff it. The usual reason for leaving gov´t posts seemed to be "to spend more time with family", but Petraus himself made this admission. Why didn´t a Dem use this info to keep him from the CIA position when he was confirmed?
Was Petraus under oath when he submitted to Congressional inquiry back in September?

The NYT has so discredited itself that I wouldn´t be surprised if they made up this letter last night.

I think that Petraeus didn´t want to testify and to let Obama answer all those questions to *ahem* congressmen.

How did this letter get tied to the husband in the first place? I´ve seen it all over the net in the last 24 hours but still don´t know why it´s connected to him.

If true, there were no surprised spouses...unless Holly Petraeus was caught off guard.

Poor little guy was soo conflicted. There´s a word to describe a guy like that.

This whole thing is bizarre. I don´t know what to expect next. Dead Americans and now this.

The fact that you’re willing to accept your wife’s infidelity for some greater political good is beyond honorable. In fact, it’s so over-the-top honorable that I’m not sure I believe your motives are real. Part of me wonders why you’re even posing this question, particularly in a column that is printed in The New York Times.

...Do you admire this man so much that you haven’t asked your wife why she keeps having sex with him? I halfway suspect you’re writing this letter because you want specific people to read this column and deduce who is involved and what’s really going on behind closed doors (without actually addressing the conflict in person). That’s not ethical, either.

Regarding the letter printed in this article that was supposedly received by the NYT. If anyone involved with the parties to this affair actually wrote and send it to the NYT, I think the most likely person who did it is the lady involved as men don´t do things like that.
