"Where´s Obama?" "Where is FEMA"? This Sandy fiasco and the other storms on top of it has made the response far worse than Katrina.

Will Shep Smith every have the ethics and Integrity, much less the guts, to apologize to President Bush? I don´t think he has it in him. Most liberals don´t.

Obama has won the election. He doesn´t care about the victims of Sandy.

The majority of those folks voted for "dear leader". They´re now learning just how grateful he will be for their votes. - not

After all, he did do a great job during that Sandy photo op. He managed to not fall down even once in front of the cameras.
Wow ! Lets make the guy our president for another term. Maybe this time he´ll get something right. Eh guess not. The perfect record of miserable performance still stands intact.

In late summer 2004 Phila, PA and NJ had a FEMA covered ´tropical storm ......... the Delaware River and streams overflowed, subways flooded,sewers backed up into home basements, and of course roofs damaged, etc.

Unfortunately prior to the FEMA claims deadline, Hurricane IVAN had struck the South ............ and the FEMA 1-800# was busy even at 3pm.

Numerous homeowners with FEMA claim #s could not get inspectors in time, and thus paid for their uncovered damages themselves.

FEMA should be scrapped.

It´s emergency response functions should be taken over by States [incl state Nat. Guards] for localized events [twisters, local flooding, earthquake etc] ......... and the Military [Federal and Reserve] for relief in truly national events such as Hurricanes Andrew, Katrina and Sandy.

The current FEMA funding of both uncovered and uninsured insurance damages, should be replaced by State and/or National mandatory ´flood-insurance´ type coverage through the insurance industry with federal banking secondary reinsurance to cover the excess.

The Red Cross´ relief efforts began following the 19th c Johnstown Flood, when there was no Nat. organization in place ........ it really is incapable in the 21st c of more than localized [ie state relief].

I agree. FEMA should be scrapped and let the states do. In 1993 we had the devastating blizzard that hit my corner of North Georgia hard. My cousin died of a heart attack because the EMT´s couldn´t get through the snow. Dozens of huge manufacturing buildings were flattened and thousands of homeowners and car owners suffered millions of dollars in damage.

BJ Clinton was president. We were denied federal disaster relief. Why? The suspicion was this this corner of the state voted heavily Republican in the election.

The people of North Georgia said to hell with Clinton then went to work and rebuilt our industry and towns. Let the states handle disaster relief. They will do a better, faster job and be more closely accountable to the citizens. Depending on some drone of a bureaucrat in Washington to help you is not very smart.

Kev (as in the Kevlar President) will deflect this criticism just as he has the Benghazi criticism and that long list trailing behind it.

Ever since our government got into the "victim" compensation business about 150 years ago --pushing private charity out and putting uncaring bureaucrats in charge of redistributing cash-- there has been vast fraud.

I learned this when I was a kid, working a temp job at the Veterans´ administration 40 years ago. The task I was given as a lowly clerk-typist was to type letters to veterans´ families who had continued cashing disability checks to which they were no longer entitled (e.g. the family would not report the death of the veteran in question).

Of course veterans are rightfully the most sympathetic of entitlement recipients -- but I think we would all agree their families should not have continued to cash checks to which they were not entitled. Yet this kind of fraud was rampant.

Who was the Incident Commander? Time to grill him or her. IC, not PIO.

FEMA is what you´d expect from a government operation. It´s all about funding. Those at lower levels do their best, but top-down government, especially with this WH crowd, is what it is.
