Chris Christie phoned Barack Obama to
congratulate him on his re-election - but
loser Mitt Romney only got an email

Daily Mail [UK], by Toby Harnden

Chris Christie, the bombastic New Jersey governor who has been under fire from conservatives for his effusive praise of Barack Obama after Hurricane Sandy telephoned the president after his election win but only sent an email to Mitt Romney, it was revealed today. He told reporters at a press conference on Thursday that he had talked to Obama. 'We didn’t have a political strategy discussion,' he said. 'I said, "Congratulations on your win last night, Mr. President", he said, "Thank you".' Asked about whether he had spoken to Romney, he said: 'No. We exchanged emails last night.

Not to worry he will change party affiliation before the next election. He's not a conservative let alone a Republican.

Christie has ruined his future in politics. However, he is NOT the reason Romney lost. It's the other "Christies" in the RNC that rig the primaries and "handle" the candidates that lost this election.

Again with the "establishment controlled primaries" nonsense. There was no movement conservative alternative to Romney who did much better than I would have imagined in the course of his campaign.
We need to get behind one candidate and support the candidate after a thorough vetting. Every one of the candidates opposing Romney blew themselves up. That wasn't "the establishment."

Obama did actually have a presidential look about him over at the hurricane, but only because he was walking next to a slob the shape of an Airstream trailer struggling to keep up.

When you add that visual contrast to Christie´s undignified, overt butt-kissing, the bully in him becomes even more pronounced. He probably thinks the photo op helped his future but if so, only in New Jersey.

Barack Obama cannot abdicate

Just as Franklin Roosevelt promised never to send “American boys” to fight in Europe, so Barack Obama vowed that US military strength would henceforth “pivot” towards Asia. Once again, a European crisis has brought the ambitions of a second-term US president back to earth. [Snip] His very presence underlined a Cold War message: that America serves as the ultimate guarantor of European security. Whatever his innermost wishes, Mr Obama cannot abdicate from that role. In other words, Vladimir Putin has made a profound difference. His Ukraine adventure has forced Mr Obama to turn away from the Pacific and behave in

For anyone who still takes the security of the West seriously – and I fear I am in a distinct minority – the manner in which Russian President Vladimir Putin has effortlessly achieved his audacious land grab in the Crimea should serve as a dramatic wake-up call for Nato. And yet, to judge by the mood music coming from the meeting of Western leaders in The Hague this week, the likelihood of Nato doing anything to dissuade Moscow´s macho man from undertaking any further acts of military adventurism in central Europe or the Baltic states does not seem at all

The latest report from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is due out next week. If the leaked draft is reflected in the published report, it will constitute the formal moving on of the debate from the past, futile focus upon "mitigation" to a new debate about resilience and adaptation. [Snip] Stern estimates the costs of his recommended policies for mitigating climate change at 2 percent of GDP--and his estimates are widely regarded as relatively optimistic (others estimate mitigation costs as high as 10 percent of global GDP). The number of homes where no-one has a job has fallen by nearly half a million in just two years, new figures showed yesterday. There were fewer children living in families where nobody works even than at the height of the boom a decade ago, they said. The rapid drop in the ranks of benefit-dependent families comes against a background of rising employment, and of welfare reforms designed to make it less lucrative to choose to live on the state rather than to work. Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith hailed the new figures as success for attempts to make work

London - A remarkable piece of high-tech data detective work has provided what looks to be the missing clue to the tragic fate of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, an expert said Monday. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak earlier on Monday said that information provided by British satellite company Inmarsat and the British government´s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) confirmed that MH370 had flown to a remote part of the Indian Ocean where the flight ended. (Snip) Inmarsat had come up with a theory to apply to the data it had collected from MH370 during the flight, and had then tested the results on aircraft in

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney said Sunday that President Barack Obama is naive when it comes to Russia, has shown "faulty judgment" about Moscow´s intentions and could have done more to try to deter its annexation of Crimea. The 2012 Republican presidential nominee said Obama didn´t have the foresight to anticipate Russia´s moves and should have been working earlier with allies to make clear the penalties that Russia would face if it moved into Ukraine. Romney did acknowledge that such steps may not have been enough though to hold back Russia President Vladimir Putin. "Had we communicated those things, there´s always

Former President Jimmy Carter is back in the news this week publicizing a new book about women’s rights. But, as is often the case with Carter, he drew more interest for comments he made about Israel and its supporters. When asked on NBC’s Meet the Press yesterday by Andrea Mitchell why it was that Barack Obama never called upon him for advice, he made it clear that the Jewish state was the reason he has been treated like a pariah: I—that’s a hard question– for me to answer—you know, with complete candor. I think the problem was that– that in dealing

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,

First daughter Sasha Obama cut a stylish figure in jeans and shades as the Obama girls visited the Great Wall of China today. Michelle Obama, Malia, 15, and Sasha, 12, were left alone to explore the Mutianyu section of the historical landmark in the northern Beijing suburbs though Chinese police officers looked on protectively. The three walked a stretch of the wall that looks out to a massive rock inscription on a hillside that reads in Chinese: ´Loyal to Chairman Mao.´ The country has been fascinated by Mrs Obama´s ´elegance´ during the weeklong visit to the country to promote educational

WASHINGTON — Spring break was never this dull. First Lady Michelle Obama’s kids finally hit the wall on their whirlwind visit to China, showing signs they’ve nearly reached their limit tagging along with mom as she visits site after site on what’s billed as a “person-to-person” tour. Accompanied by Malia, 15, and Sasha, 12, the first lady on Monday toured Xi’an, an ancient city in the ancestral province of Chinese President Xi Jinping. They inspected the city’s 600-year-old wall, a day after touring the Great Wall near Beijing. Photos show Sasha looking like she’d rather be back home with her pals than hitting the

Most Supreme Court watchers are fixated these days on Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby—the important challenge to the Affordable Care Act’s contraception mandate scheduled for argument Tuesday. And why wouldn’t they be? With its potent mix of religion, sex, Obamacare, and prayerful corporations, it’s the blockbuster case of the term. It is also a crucial test of Chief Justice John Roberts’s leadership on the Supreme Court. Just two years ago, Roberts cast the deciding vote to largely uphold the Affordable Care Act. While the country remains divided over whether he acted like a traitor or a statesman, all would have to agree
