Video: President Obama
Addresses Fiscal Cliff,
Holds Firm on Tax Hikes

Fox News, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 11/9/2012 1:35:55 PM

Just days after Tuesday’s presidential election, President Barack Obama invited Capitol Hill leaders to the White House for debt and spending meetings next week in order to discuss the country’s looming ‘fiscal cliff.’ On the election, he said that “the American people voted for action, not politics as usual.” (Snip) “You elected us to focus on your job, not ours and in that spirit, I’ve invited leaders of both parties to the White House next week so we can start to build consensus around the challenges that we can only solve together.”

Comments:
There is absolutely no difference in what he said four years ago. He "refuses to accept any approach that isn’t balanced." Same code words. He refuses to accept anything that isn't redistribution of wealth.

Obama threw a sound-bite to his stupid media....he is open to new ideas.
Then he buckled down.
The reality?
There's a DEM senate bill he is ready with his pen out to sign.
All Republicans in the House should do is rubber stamp it.

Before the Republicans consider any tax increases they should revisit all of the Democrat promises to cut spending going back to GHWB.

Promises from Democrats are shameful to hold.

It is time to shut the government down. I have a child in the military and if I have to support her to get her through a shut down, I will. The Republicans need to stand firm. They have been snookered twice already by promises of tax cuts that have never materialized. If they have to spend some of what is left from Romney's war chest to tell the American sheeple that we are broke and the gravy train is over, then do it.

Question:

Is the United States a better place than it was now that Obama has been reelected?

I dare Obama to stop falsely saying that he is for raising the taxes of millionaires and billionaires..and instead...

telling the truth and saying "I...me..Obama..want to raise taxes on those individuals making more than $200,000 and families making more than $250,000.

I double dog dare him. Coward.

The House of Representatives - not the President - is elected by the American people to tax. The House owns the purse. Let him go over the cliff by himself.

We need to stop expecting the Republicans to do differently than past behavior indicates - CAVE. Then, of course, they will say they did no such thing. Boehner's FIRST appearance showed he will not stand up to Obama. We can't fix this until we deal with things as they are not as we have kept hoping they will be.

Obama is ready now to punish the country for something he has held secret for a long time. We are colonizers and in his view we need to be punished for it.

The punishment will be economic misery for all.

Understand, this is an evil man in his heart.

Boehner, IMHO, should address the American people; "Elections have consequences, therefore even though I disagree with the president and think taxing the rich will drive the economy into the tank, I will not stand in the way of his plans." Prove the point once and for all!

This idiot is a narcissistic, stubborn and arrogant fool!

His proposed tax increase on the "wealthy" wound amount to a pimple on an elephant's --- and EVERYONE knows it, yet he insists on it, while asking for compromise.

Additionally, a tax increase on those earning 250k would be the foot in the door, with much more to come shortly thereafter.

More Private Sector Job Losses on the way which HE will be responsible for.

More Federal hiring of UNION (slavemaster) workers to implement Obamascare.

More misery.

If the Federal Government seized all assets of the 1% "Whitey" money, it would cover a few weeks of Government spending.

Increased taxes in whatever form won't put a dent in Federal Debt.

Sadly, moving large amounts of money offshore is not easy, nor cheap.

I tend to agree with the let it go. The GOP should announce loudly that they think that the agenda is wrong and will make matters worse but the voters wanted the Democrat policies so they get them. Any failures of these policies belong totally to the Democrats. Then abstain from voting.

We all are about to reap the whirlwind and it's going to get ugly real quick! Obama and his owners are determined to convert this country into a socialist paradise and unless Congress actually performs its constitutional duty it will happen.

I am all for standing firm against this Marxist demagogue, as are many others on this board. But the problem with the notion of letting the Won own this mess as he takes us over the cliff is that the MSM will never hold him responsible for the resulting disaster, and he knows it.

So, look at things from Boehner's perspective. He's got two options:

1). Go along with Obama to retain lower tax rates for those not making a helluva lot of money and in many cases are struggling, knowing all along that you are further strangling the job creation engine, or

2) Stand firm, watch EVERYONE go over the fiscal cliff (Obama's not bluffing) and be crucified for it by an MSM which, like it or not, drives public opinion.

That is where we are, friends, and shrill calls to replace Boehner are futile and miss the larger point. The other side has all the weapons.

Whatever happens, don't simply hang it on a couple of politicians. We are in this pickle for a number of reasons which have grown over decades.

The unfortunate joke of this is folks like Romney, who make their money from Captial Gains and donate mega bucks really won't be impacted.

The Soros and Buffets don't earn sallaries. Unless they stop differentiating between wages and dividends/cap gains there will always be a dicrepancy.

In my view, there are two reasons for lower rates on cap gains: 1) taxes have ALREADY been paid; 2) more importantly, to offset for the effects of INFLATION, and we'll see lots of that soon enough.

Jimmy Carter has been very active in the decades since his presidency, and his successors have occasionally called for his advice. Except, it turns out, the current occupant of the office. A clip from Carter’s upcoming Meet the Press interview reveals that President Obama is the first president since Carter left office not to solicit the Southern Democrat’s advice. Carter explained, “President Clinton did and President George W. Bush and H.W. Bush and even Ronald Reagan used to call on us to go into sensitive areas.” They all asked Carter to deal with “unsavory characters,” but Obama hasn’t reached out to

Last week, President Obama directed his Homeland Security Department to examine its current deportation practices -- "to see how it can conduct enforcement more humanely, within the confines of the law," the White House announced on March 13. But with immigration reform stalled in Congress, what more can Obama do? "I think he´s going to wait until August," said Telemundo anchor and immigration-reform advocate José Díaz-Balart. And if Congress doesn´t act on immigration reform by then, "I wouldn´t be surprised if he starts making some very controversial executive orders to mitigate the pain of millions of people who face deportation," Díaz-Balart told

Susan Rice, national security adviser to President Barack Obama, said on Friday that the administration still believes there is a diplomatic solution to the crisis in Ukraine as Russian troops mobilized along the country’s entire eastern border. CBS News reported on Friday that a mass mobilization of Russian forces was taking place on Ukraine’s eastern border with at least twice as many troops as the 20,000 number originally reported. The defense “exercise” included tanks and tactical aircraft and appeared to show signs of a logistical buildup required for a sustained operation. In 2011, over 8,000 kids were suspended from preschool — preschool! — in America. More than half were black, despite comprising less than half of the student population. The odds are probably better than even that you will be annoyed by that. Which is fine. I accept that response. NBC News political director and chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd publicly criticized CNN this week for its relentless use of the "breaking news" chyron on stories related to missing Malaysian Airlines flight 370. "Another day of ´breaking news´ based on finding nothing or in other words, ´not breaking news,´" Todd, who also hosts MSNBC´s "Daily Rundown," wrote on Twitter on Friday morning. "I know it may look like I am casting stones while potentially living in a glass house. But the mistakes of one news org hurts ALL of us," he wrote. "Then it becomes ´the media´ is abusing ´breaking news´

Are you are among the uninitiated lumpenproletariat who believe the decline of the Roman Empire was attributable to a multitude of factors? Do you still naively assume that rampant immorality, political corruption, inability to effectuate regime change without violence and bloodletting, failure to curb runaway inflation, the complete over extension of military resources and the eventual drought of plunder were among the reasons for the fall of Rome? Then you obviously have not read the latest NASA report on how the benighted empire could have avoided collapse if only it had adhered to the tenets of Karl Marx. Apparently, Rome

Nearly half of callers to California´s health insurance exchange in February and March couldn´t get through and abandoned their call, state figures show. Those service woes could worsen as more people try to beat the March 31 deadline to get Obamacare coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Also Thursday, the Covered California exchange reported progress on another front: low enrollment among the state´s large Latino population. At its monthly board meeting, the exchange said 32% of health plan enrollees in the first two weeks of March described themselves as Latino. That was up from 18% during the first three months

With New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie stalled by the “Bridgegate” affair, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has become the establishment´s candidate and top pick to win the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, according to a new analysis of the race. “We now consider Bush the leader of the field if he decides to run,” said the influential “Crystal Ball” from the University of Virginia´s Center for Politics. “In recent months, we’ve noticed an unmistakable and widespread desire among some of the Republicans we talk to, particularly ones who would be classified as members of the establishment on and off Capitol Hill, for a third Bush nominee in less than three decades.

*´barking at the staff´ Michelle Obama and three of her family members are staying in a $8,350-per-night Beijing presidential suite, but despite a 24-hour butler and other perks that come with the lodging, her entourage has inconvenienced ´pretty much everyone´ and made the hotel staff ´fed up,´ a well-placed hotel staffer has told MailOnline. [Snip] But the Obamas´ stay has already affected staff and guests at the hotel, with the Westin front-desk veteran alleging that Mrs. Obama´s mother Marian Robinson has been ´barking at the staff since she arrived.´ Government security forces from both China and the U.S. started Thursday to screen

(Video) The Obama ladies are in the house — the house of China, that is. First lady Michelle Obama, her two daughters, Malia and Sasha, and her mother touched down Thursday in China for what’s being touted as a weeklong feel-good tourist event, amid increasing murmurs back home about U.S. taxpayers having to foot the bill. Mrs. Obama is supposed to use her visit for soft diplomacy only, and shy from the more controversial topics that plague U.S.-China relations, namely human rights and economics. No reporters accompanied the family on the trip. “The nature of her visit is really quite

“Obamacare” as shorthand for the Affordcable Care Act was first used mostly by critics of the law, but now everyone’s using the moniker and President Obama has long since embraced it. But apparently no one told Nancy Pelosi, because she’s still ticked off at how much people talk about “Obamacare” instead of the “Affordable Care Act.” In response to a reporter asking a question about Obamacare being a political winner or loser, Pelosi said, “By the way, it’s called the Affordable Care Act. It’s called the Affordable Care Act. I know you didn’t intend any compliment or derogatory––it’s called the

Is Barack Obama simply too busy to be Chief Executive of the United States? Apparently. One of the primary functions of the president is to keep the nation safe, to preserve it from its enemies. To do that effectively, one would actually have to maintain something of a consistent level of attention to the moving pieces that directly influence how future events will unfold. None other than the truly sycophantic thinks for a second that President Obama cares a whit for anything that does not involve fundamentally altering the social composition of this country. Or golf. During the five-plus years

In a speech Friday, Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush praised illegal immigrants as "risk takers" who embody the entrepreneurial spirit of America and doubled down on his defense of Common Core. According to the Miami-Herald, Bush made his remarks in front of business leaders in Florida. “People who come here legally and illegally are the risk takers,” Bush reportedly said. “If you’re living in a rural area of Guatemala and you come, you’re a bigger risk taker than those who stay,” he added. Of course, the first action of those who come to the country illegally is breaking the law. Bush also said he

President Barack Obama said Wednesday that he thinks Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick “would make a great president or vice president.” Obama and Patrick, both Democrats, are friends and close political allies. The two men have campaigned for each other, with Patrick acting as a surrogate for Obama nationally during the 2012 presidential race. Patrick has said clearly that he intends to return to the private sector when his second term as governor is up at the end of the year and will not run for president in 2016. But he has not ruled out a run for office in the

Black students are more likely to be suspended from U.S. public schools — even as tiny preschoolers. The racial disparities in American education, from access to high-level classes and experienced teachers to discipline, were highlighted in a report released Friday by the Education Department´s civil rights arm. The suspensions — and disparities — begin at the earliest grades. Black children represent about 18 percent of children in preschool programs in schools, but they make up almost half of the preschoolers who are suspended more than once, the report said. Six percent of the nation´s districts with preschools reported suspending at

During her visit to China, first lady Michelle Obama pointed out that the ability to travel outside of the United States was "rare" but that she chose China for a reason. "It’s very rare that I have the opportunity to travel outside of the United States, and it’s even more rare to have the opportunity to travel with three generations — with my daughters, and with my mother," she said. "And it is no accident that one of our first trips as a family is here to China." Obama made her remarks while visiting a school in Beijing, with the Chinese first

Ellen DeGeneres was a completely slavish toady to President Obama as he appeared on her show to sell Obamacare -- not to young people, but to mothers. The president made his pitch to "especially all the moms out there who may have young people – 26, 27, do not have health insurance, but they think they’re invincible and nothing’s ever going to happen to ‘em – what we’ve said is you never know what life is going to throw at ya."

College basketball can wait. Did you know that March is actually National Nutrition Month? Today, First Lady Michelle Obama urged Americans via her "Let´s Move!" initiative to challenge their family members to eat one new fruit or vegetable per week in March to faithfully observe the occasion. "March is National Nutrition Month and you can celebrate by challenging your family to try a new fruit or vegetable each week," First Lady Michelle Obama said in an e-mail to supporters today. Never mind that there were less than two "each weeks" left in National Nutrition Month when the e-mail challenge was

Today’s Washington Post features an article by Steven Mufson and Juliet Eilperin headlined, “The biggest lease holder in Canada’s oil sands isn’t Exxon Mobil or Chevron. It’s the Koch brothers.” The article was based on a newly-issued two-page report by the far-left International Forum on Globalization. The Post reported: You might expect the biggest lease owner in Canada’s oil sands, or tar sands, to be one of the international oil giants, like Exxon Mobil or Royal Dutch Shell. But that isn’t the case. The biggest lease holder in the northern Alberta oil sands is a subsidiary of Koch Industries, the privately-owned
