My husband works full time and I began a part-time $7.25-an-hour job this summer to help pay for Catholic school for our 6-year-old son. It's about 3 grand a year. As I have noted elsewhere during the last few days, the outcome of the election is no surprise when you realize the mean IQ in this country (and of the average voter) is only 100. And that's an average, which suggests that there are plenty of people in the 80 - 95 point category who were also voting.

Ehlert approaches this same problem from another perspective, and suggests a solution -- namely give these good folks everything they voted for, in spades -- and eventually, very eventually, given the intellectual slowness of the average American, they may catch on.

#60, you need to understand that a good candidate isn't just one who says all the right conservative things. Since the Nixon-Kennedy TV debate, optics drive as much as if not more than philosophy.

The Ron Paul supporters can not grasp this, as they had their man who was saying all the right things in their mind, but everyone else saw a timid, high-pitched contrarian who reminded them of their crazy uncle.

And the Paul cult and Gary Johnson vote got Obama elected. They couldn't grasp that Election Day isn't the time to fight primary battles. So all they did is help elect the worst of all options. They're no help at all.

What you have to know is that the conservative has to sell himself in order to sell his agenda. And that perfect candidate is rarely available. You go to war with what you have.

There are other battles to be fought, however. There's the battle of hearts and minds. Speak out loudly about the folly of the Democrat approach. "These policies will lead to disaster, but we will not stand in the way of what you chose. Talk to us once you've had enough."

Then there are the foreign policy and other issues that must still be fought. You can still block treaties that would undermine the Constitution. You can block nominations of radical appointees. You can continue to use your oversight powers in the House to expose corruption and cover-up. These can be done to honor your oath to preserve and defend the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic, without incurring blame for the recession/depression to come.

Fight hard, but fight smart. It's an asymmetric war. Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes But you'll need a new general .. er Speaker.

What he is proposing requires a true leap of faith. It requires us to ask ourselves "what do I worship?" Do we worship God, or do we worship our savings, our 401Ks, our houses, our jobs, the "stuff" we have acquired? Because we will probably lose it all if we take this course and allow the socialists to wreck America. Are we willing to risk having to start over with absolutely nothing to rebuild America? At our age?

Are we willing to step off into the abyss with nothing more than "a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence"? Are we willing to "pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor" with the faith that God will guide us through to the other side? Some once were. Are we?

My fear is that as we hit bottom, our enemies abroad will arrive to claim the spoils of whatever is left of our once proud Country....Damn difficult to stand by and watch that happen. What I see is the establishment Washington GOP crowd caving in on immigration and economy cause they forget they were sent there by the very red "rest of the country." They just want to keep their "careers." If we would just let the ignorant coasts implode, some might wise up!

Going Galt is not the answer, folks! And Rand had it right in the book. Amazed that there are no readers of Atlas Shrugged here who really remember how it ended. To the best of my recollection, the productive and makers had already withdrawn from society and the aristocracy of pull had nothing more, Galt's final statement on the radio in collapsing NYC was 'Brother, You Asked For It!' Fine, but....

The problem with Atlas Shrugged's scenario and the 'force the collapse' stratagem is the disaster which will happen to practically all of us. Only the top creators went to Galt's Gulch. We the workers, even those most productive and honest in business, were utterly and completely destroyed. There's a character, Eddie Willers, who was Dagny Taggart's best executive, and he was reduced to crying on railroad tracks when the last Taggart train ceased to run. No, he didn't get to Galt's Gulch.

Somehow we have to not withdraw entirely, change the mindset of education, keep our families together, keep working and paying taxes, survive...yet try to reverse going over the cliff. I still feel like we blew our best chance, and I'm tired.

People here still do not understand the power of the media. Women stockpiled tampons and BC because they were convinced RR would take them away. They were motivated to vote against something that didn't exist. That is why Obama won.

The Republicans will be successfully blamed for all the troubles coming our way if they do anything other than vote present.

There are two options ahead. Give up. Try to be as isolated and self sufficient as possible. Or, begin an underground campaign knowing it will take decades to retake this country. Kind of like how the progressives have just now successfully won their 100-year campaign to turn the US into a socialist country.

The Republicans should hasten the fiscal crisis and focus on key firewalls. 1) Let all the tax cuts expire. Every single one. Most of this country will be astonished to discover Bush cut taxes for everyone. Only a few people know this now. If the taxes are hiked only for those above $250k, Democrats will say they got rid of the Bush tax cuts and history will be permanently rewritten. 2) Delay complete amnesty for Mexican immigrants as long as possible. Allow work visas but require a 7 year waiting period for citizenship. 3) Hold the debt ceiling. Taxes can be redone later, but letting that go will make it even more difficult to recover in the future. 4) Focus on trying to save as many of our soldiers as possible as we retreat from Afghanistan. 5) Locally begin to take back the schools, local boards, newspapers, etc. 6) Identify friends locally and help each other through the next four years of he11 and then rebuild from the ashes.

Many of us who regularly post here cite Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" to describe where we are headed. Maybe it's time we read or re-read "Anthem." I believe its message is closer to the path we are on. Plus, it only takes an afternoon to read . . . comprehending might take a little longer.

So you give them all they want and crash the system to show them this is the wrong path. If they weren't taught the correct path, why do you think the crash will educate them. agree with #9, this looks clever but it isn't. Remember how clever McConnell's sequestration idea seemed? When there's a principled battle to be fought, substance-free tactics won't take its place. There is a lot that I don't believe about this election. To start with, I don't believe the quoted final vote count, I don't think it is available yet. Also how many people in New York and the east coast states didn't vote because of Sandy. Both Republicans and Democrats knew those states were lost causes for Romney anyway.

If you looked at the number of electoral votes between the candidates you should realize that the Democrats just had to win about 5 key states to bag the election. I think they stole those states through crooked technology. The other states were either cinch blue or red states.

On the other hand, what do I know. What was really important is that the City of Los Angeles passed a law that requires condoms when filming porno movies. Cool, now they have lost the Porno business. Producers will move to a city near you to escape the condom regulations.

Rather than dreaming about crashing and cutting off our nose to spite our face, we need to do some judo type thinking when it comes to the economy. Let's turn Dem strategies against them to improve the economy and decrease immigration, which is creating little ethnic ghettoes, non-citizen voters and votes based on color, at the same time.

1) Suspend H1-B, immediately return all the so-called 'essential' high-skilled guest workers to India and China. Screw Microsoft. (About 90% have faked-up credentials anyway, and the Chinese are putting spy bugs in systems) They can go sabotage their systems than ours.
2) Mandate that companies of over 500 workers in-source worker training for unfilled positions
3) Mandate 100% US sourcing of government products and services
4) To increase long-term investment, reduce capital gains taxation on long term investments on a sliding scale. If it's held for a year, it's taxed like personal income. Slide it down to there so that 5 years might be 0 and longer could even be negative (not my idea, Clayton Christensen's)

Add to this that outsourcing will be taxed at a minimum of 50% on the differential: cost of making in US less cost of making offshore. Apply this to services (IT, telemarketing, creative services, medical e.g. radiology, IT) as well.

The only exception to outsourcing I would make is Canada. We have always been close and we should not punish a friend. We can also make a trade for their oil and yes, build that pipeline.

Unfortunately, as much as I think this is probably a good idea, there is one giant problem with this, the U. S. Dollar. Even thought we have governmental fiscal mismanagement that rank right the "PIIGs" (Portugal, Italy, Ireland & Greece), we are not (yet) seeing the consequences. Here's why:

The Federal Reserve can create money out of thin air, just by running the printing presses. They can do this because 1. The Dollar is not pegged to the value of a hard asset, like gold, and 2, the U.S. dollar is the international reserve currency. Which means that all large international transactions are valued in U.S. Dollars.

Until and unless the rest of the world decides to swap the Dollar for the Euro or Yuan, Ben and Barry can continue on their merry way of printing and spending. When that happens, and it will if the Fed keeps printing money, the collapse on the U.S. will be like Argentina in the 1990's X 100, on steroids.

Invest in metals, Gold, Silver & lead.

So I heard this monring Gingrich say on a local radio talk show that the Republican Party has to be more inclusive; more blacks, Heespanics, etc. So what does Condi Ice, Mia Love, Gov Martinez, etc represent?

I keep hearing that Heespnaics are a natural constituency for Republicans; family values, religion, etc. Really? Seems the majority of Heespanics vote for what they can get from the government and for those who have to deal with Central American gangbangers - so much for family values.

As for blacks - well, what can be said except that the stain of that peculiar institution, slavery, will continue to stain this country hundreds of years after the last slave died.

I don't need any politican of any party preaching to me about morality, the duty to help others, etc., but when my tax dollars are supporting the results of someone else's lack of morality then I want morals discussed because it is a public policy issue.

Those of us who play by the rules; work hard, etc are a minority now. The end will come eventually when the money runs out and ther is no more dollars to print.

In the meantime, Obama has four more years to visit the rest of the world and hone his golf game.

I personally think we need to throw all of our support (and political contributions) towards the demonized TEA Party. They should in turn start putting up billboards to wit:

This plan sounds like the knee jerk emotional reaction that we sometime have after a crushing defeat. After a few days we try to learn from our mistakes and get back in the fight for next time. We need to see reality and understand that each failure makes the future victory more difficult and further into the future. This plan ( give Obama his way, vote present, and help him step on the gas rather than stepping on the brake) speeds up the process and makes it much more painful. It could work as long as we are clear up front it means a disaster is coming sooner rather than later. This is needed because the ignorant will not understand the reason for the disaster no matter how painful. The present disaster in the economy is still blamed on Bush who is out of power for 4 years. Why would the coming total national collapse be any different. If the ignorant in the population do not take the right lesson from the disaster how will they learn from it?

We absolutely cannot do what the author suggests, no matter what a delicious thought it is. Whatsoever the government takes, it NEVER gives back.

I have been thinking along the same line as the author: ram this philosophy down their progressive throats. They will take it like a rape on a rainy day. But, it is a risky endeavor.

I also challenge to the right to do as the left did: community organization. LBJ's War on Poverty funded community organization and by extension the Black Panthers. The right must do the same but with conservative philosophy. I don't have the exact pathway set up but there must be a revolution among elementary school children about the value of a hand up and not a hand out.

And, the right needs to get on the same page. We aren't. Conquer and divide and they win.

I listened to Hannity yesterday until I couldn't take it any longer-he blamed Romney's loss on not embracing Sarah Palin. Palin could have endorsed Romney before the 11th hour. She could have led her legion. Instead, she led them stay home. Our country is in peril with the likes of Valerie Jarrett negotiating with the Iranians because Sarah Palin, of reality TV, got her feelings hurt? Palin, Hannity insult my intellegence. Palin needs to face up to the fact the 35 and younger college educated see her as a joke. She and her family have done nothing to correct this idea.

There has been a massive shift in ideology because our heritage has been stolen. We no longer believe in the "land where our fathers died, land of the Pilgrims' pride." How many children, and adults, for that matter, even know the song "My Country 'Tis of Thee", as just one example?

The shift is not due to ethnic demographics, but rather the demographics of an uneducated citizenry that is willing to squander liberty (if it even knows the meaning of the word) for an 0bama phone and an 0bama mortgage. They are willing to squander their liberty and future for 30 pieces of silver. And that is why 0bama was elected in the first place, and why he was reelected on November 6.
