Obama heads to Asia amid
looming fear of 'Fiscal Cliff'

New York Post, by S.A. Miller

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 11/9/2012 5:01:13 AM

WASHINGTON — President Obama yesterday announced he’s jetting off on a victory lap around Southeast Asia, despite a new government report warning the Jan. 1 fiscal cliff will plunge the US into a recession and drive the unemployment rate up to 9.1 percent. Obama and Congress have just 52 days to reach a deal to avoid sailing off that precipice, when a devastating double whammy of tax hikes and budget cuts will rock the economy and hit just about every American. The negotiations will be difficult. Obama signaled he’s sticking to his demand for raising taxes

Why the surprise? This most corrupt-anti-Israel-anti-American "president" in the history of this once great Country is now free to do anything he wants without having to consider whether it will cost him an election. As the late great Jim Morrison sang, "This is the end"... of America as we have known it. IF 3,000,000 Republicans actually stayed home on Tuesday, they deserve the lion's share of credit for what is going to happen to the U.S. now that obama and his leftist-thug-administration have full reign! God Help this Country!

The real president, Valarie Jarrett, will be left here to deal with the suicide jump while he and Michelle and Reggie Love take the victory tour. Jarrett has already said Obama will be spending much less time in Washington this term.

God help us!!!

The fix is already in to deal with the cliff, that's why Obama didn't send out the layoff notices/ He's not going to stay cooped up with MO in the WH,he'll use any excuse to get out of town.

We need to grab a limb and let this poor sick Republic go over the fiscal cliff, then we can sort through the rubble and forge a new beginning. The current kabuki dance being performed by all these fool politicians will go nowhere and will eventually result in the same end. The alternatives are to take our blows now and begin rebuilding or suffer a slow painful death.

As for Obama, he's doing what he always does in a crisis . . . hiding in the corner or skipping town until somebody else takes action.

CBO statement at end of article:

America’s gross domestic product would grow by 2.2 percent if the Bush-era tax rates are extended and by nearly 3 percent if Obama’s payroll tax cut and extra long-term unemployment benefits are extended, the report predicted.

The unemployment benefits haven't worked and in fact are keeping some unemployed. If the Dims are this stupid the GOP should simply shut up and let them lead. Let the misery get really bad and the Dims will propose a solution.

Looks like obama is running for world runner. Starting with the country that raised him...his mindset is foreign and it shows right up front. He'll make a "lying speech today" and then he'll leave the folks of New York and New Jersey to shift for themselves.

Oh well -- the republicans should wait for the reid/rod of the demorattic senate to offer a plan. Let the demorats do the heavy lifting....Any way you cut this -- it's Bush's fault.

On a positive note: The liar is out of OUR country. God willing with him gone things will settle down... Perhaps the demorats in the house and senate will wake up and cut him off at the ankles.... One can hope!! OR perhaps hillary's folk will take the opportunity to gain some ground. While the cat's away -------

I sure hope the powers that be are already building a new AF1 cause this one will be worn out when Bammy is done. Oh, Bammy will never be done, he can sign an executive order and make himself President forever. I urge everyone to email Speaker Bohner and urge him to let the economy collapse. Gonna happen eventually anyway, lets get it over with.

This president is one of the 47% who believe government owes them. He will not change because he deserves whatever he wants. After all, he won. Just like the last four years he will be missing in action. Work is beneath him. The campaign took a lot out of him and it is time for a little R&R. He cares about the state of the economy as much as he did our people in Benghazi. Our job is to jeep the perks coming. I hate to admit it but I loathe the people who put him in office. Mitt would have been up and running already looking to solve the problems we face. Obama just runs away.

The reason that Obama will be spending less time in the WH as he will be busy visiting other countries to put in place the world government. The UN small arms treaty is back the day after he was re-elected. This is just the beginning.

#10 and #15, That's Cloward and Piven right down the line. Let the economy completely collapse. When this happens and with the UN gun control/arms treaty by EO, they think it will be easy to subdue US. After all the Homeland Security bought one billion rounds of hollow points. And the Social Security Administration, (Whaaaat!) bought almost two hundred thousand hollow points. Not even the military until 2010(?) approved hollow points but in limited situations.

I've got news for hussein and his brown shirts. The Revolutionary War was won primarily by guerrilla warfare with a colonial soldier fighting from behind every tree and the British advancing in bright red columns and phalanxes. This might get ugly.

Just remember Cloward and Piven. The plan is on the move.

I have to get into this conversation with #10,#15 & #19. If we don't crash now those 3 million Republicans,Johnson voters & pastors & priests will never wake up to what is needed for a new beginning. During the War Between the States(prefered label),WWI & WWII there was more spiritual awakening than ever before in our Republic. That is what is wrong with our nation & so many schools are not teaching Founding Father principles & we just might go down if Israel is not protected. Too many Americans are preoccupied with "stuff" including some conservatives. Would love to go to a party with the Ldotters from election night - it would be a blast!

I've said this before, but I think he will spend more of his second term concerned about his personal safety. Overseas travel may be a way to stay out of the public eye. There are many out there now who see him as a threat to the republic. Sis issued a warning once about returning vets. She may have a point.

Just wondering how many $Trillion the chinese will knock of our debt in return for urkel giving them our military and national secrets? #11, not only is urkel's 99 week unemployment check keeping folks unemployed, there has been a huge jump in SSI enrollment because they have the time to find the doctors, stand in line umpteen timea and complete all the forms it takes to get on SSI, which takes about 2 years to accomplish. Now they when the 99 weeks runs out, they get checks for life, b/c SSI doesn't run out. America. Vhadda country!

Re # 13, Boehner and McConnell our only leaders as we mill and you want pure hard right conservatism delivered? Eating our own only keeps the bleeding going IMO.

We need to find common ground. No Jon Huntsman, Mormon but not Mormonized by the media because he was no threat to the commielougues.

You have seen the heart of Mormon Mitt and he is not so prideful as to be driven to suicide, but piling on is nullifying of his good things. Capitalism but get rid of Reagan's CEO at the top.

More succinctly, no more Mormons in the top slot because some just will not vote for one (kudos to the ones who could see past religion/politics mix)Mormons will vote for a hard right religious fundamentalist if they have the capitalist R behind their name.

But a better choice is a Paul Ryan whom the M-word's fell in love with. Political realities and the big tent cooperating is our only hope. And get the Tea Party to unite under one semi-moderate leader that we can all follow. IMO.

The American voters chose fiscal suicide on Tuesday. Let the country go off the fiscal cliff. This is not the problem of the Republicans. Let Obama deal with the consequences. Let people feel the full effect of tax increases across the board and sequestration cuts. Who really cares? The American people didn´t care on Tuesday. They voted for the entitlement/freebie state to continue without paying for it. Let them eat cliff!

Brussels- Until recently, members of the Russian delegation to NATO were free to roam at will about the Western alliance´s headquarters here on the outskirts of the Belgian capital. The Russians had an awkward habit of listening intently to others´ conversations at the cafeteria, yet their presence was tolerated in the name of dialogue. Not anymore. In response to Vladimir Putin´s annexation of Crimea, NATO earlier this month suspended all practical cooperation with Moscow. Now most of the 70 or so Russian personnel enjoy about the same level of access to the alliance headquarters as journalists. It´s a small but significant sign

The Obama Administration will be adding insult with its cancellation of production of the Navy’s Tomahawk and Hellfire missile programs. These decisions followed by just weeks the decision to reclassify two hospital ships, 10 coastal patrol craft and a ferry boat as “capital warships.” The Tomahawk decision is particularly troubling, as the cruise missile has for years been the workhorse of presidents seeking to deliver limited, precise, stand-off military responses. During the 2011 Libyan crisis, the Navy flung 220 Tomahawks in support of operations. We launched more than 1,100 at Kosovo. About 100 of these missiles are used in an average

My American Enterprise Institute colleague Nick Eberstadt provides a reminder that the federal government has been a pioneer in producing useful and reliable statistics. It began with the Constitution´s unprecedented and, in Eberstadt´s words, “truly revolutionary” requirement that a census of population be conducted at regular intervals and that the number of representatives each state would have in the House of Representatives would be based on it. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the quality and quantity of government statistics has been deteriorating. Eberstadt decries in particular the government’s “hastily devised ‘federal poverty measure’ unveiled in 1965,” which

Kathleen Sebelius is getting out of Dodge, and the timing of her resignation as Secretary of Health and Human Services makes l sense. Though the 7.1 million figure for ObamaCare sign-ups is overblown, it provides the proper political cover for her to leave. By leaving now, Mrs. Sebelius also denies the GOP a juicy target in its campaign to retake the Senate this year. For keeping the Senate Democratic is vital to the president if he hopes to keep the GOP from taking apart ObamaCare. Obama might still veto their legislation, but that’s not something that will help those in his

Kathleen Sebelius is resigning, and Rachel Maddow is right to not be happy about it, not one little bit. For once, I completely agree with Maddow’s analysis. This surprise resignation presents Republicans with an unexpected opportunity to refocus the conversation on Obamacare’s negatives, offers a chance to force vulnerable Senate Democrats to take a hard vote on Obamacare six months before the midterms, and serves to disrupt what had been a positive few days of media spin for the health care law into another conversation about its many failings. About a month ago, in a conversation with a Senate Democratic

Former 5th District U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Ruston, who resigned abruptly last summer to take a job in Gov. Bobby Jindal’s Cabinet, said he won’t rule out a run for his old job next fall. Alexander, who won six terms in the U.S. House beginning with the 2002 election, said he has been saddened by the scandal that has rocked his successor, U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister, R-Swartz, and the 5th District. “I would never say anything is off of the table,” Alexander, Jindal’s secretary for veterans affairs, told The News-Star this morning. “If I felt like the people of Louisiana and the

Democrats plan to turn out thousands of African-American voters this fall, in an effort to hold the Senate majority. The challenge is that some of them aren’t yet registered to vote. Which begs the question, after opportunities to elect and re-elect the first black president, why would an African-American choose this year’s midterm elections to finally jump from the sidelines and into the game? This question especially matters given that contests in North Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Michigan and Louisiana will help determine control of the Senate. Democratic strategists believe there is low-hanging fruit in the black populations in Arkansas and Louisiana, where Democrats

The son of the Nevada rancher locked in an increasingly tense land dispute with the federal government, says their cowboys managed to break a blockade and retrieve around 30 head of cattle. Federal agents swooped on Tuesday after Cliven Bundy, dubbed the last remaining rancher in southern Nevada, refused to remove his herd of 900 cows from land he claims has been in his family since 1870. The heavily-armed federal agents, equipped with eight helicopters and backed-up by snipers, surrounded the Bundy ranch after the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) attained a federal court order to confiscate the family´s herd. But

Hillary Clinton was the planned keynote speaker at the 17th Annual Western Healthcare Leadership Academy in San Diego on April 11 - but she´s cancelled her visit in the midst of planned protests from San Diego locals and military families. Protestors organized by "The Difference Matters" do not want the former U.S. Secretary of State to come because of Clinton´s role in the Benghazi scandal. "She is not welcome here in San Diego by so many of us. We don´t want her here," said Jan Iverson, a local mother and protestor. (Snip) Clinton´s office says she changed plans because of

Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. Legislatures are in a far better position than judges to assess the

Barack Obama got quite the handful on Thursday, April 10, but it was all for a good cause! As the President of the United States was boarding Air Force One with his wife Michelle Obama, a gust of wind blew up her skirt. Barack quickly stepped in and grabbed the First Lady´s billowing skirt to help her avoid a wardrobe malfunction and embarrassing Marilyn Monroe moment. Earlier in the week, another famous lady on the global stage suffered a similar snafu, but no one was around to help her -- not even her prince!

Big Government: As students flood Twitter with images of inedible slop, it´s clear that Michelle Obama´s government school lunch revamp is a costly failure. It´s time to get the feds out of kids´ lunch boxes. The $12 billion federal student lunch program, which serves 30.7 million kids, is losing participants fast — more than a million just last year, according to a recent Government Accountability Office report. The reason: the first lady´s Healthy Hunger-free Kids Act, an act that has accomplished exactly the opposite of what it claimed it would — leaving hungry, angry, disgusted kids and dumpsters full of wasted

Recently elected Democratic Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is warning that global warming could raise sea levels high enough to flood the Hampton Roads region, home to the world´s largest naval base, without immediate and “smart decisions.” Addressing an environmental summit this week at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., McAuliffe embraced climate change, blamed humans for causing it, and said action is needed now to protect Virginia´s coast from rising ocean levels that will result from global warming. “The first big decision of course is to accept that climate change is real,” he told the group. “I happen to believe in

Many Americans have been watching with great consternation the ongoing struggle between the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Marshals against Cliven Bundy and his family. There are no signs of either side relinquishing their position. Many onlookers have been informed that this dispute is over protecting the desert tortoise. But it is nothing of the sort. In fact, the reality of the dispute goes far underneath what is being talked about. The more appropriate source of the dispute is ground water as well as surface water -- this is a war over water. Nearly a year into the IRS scandal, we still don´t know exactly what happened—though we are finally getting an inkling. That´s thanks to the letter House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp sent this week to the Justice Department recommending a criminal probe of Lois Lerner. The average citizen might be dizzied by the torrent of confusing terms—BOLO lists, Tigta, 501(c)(4)—and the array of accusations that have made up this IRS investigation. Mr. Camp´s letter takes a step back to remind us why this matters, even as it provides compelling new information that goes to motive and method—and clarifies some of

Solar power has won the global argument. Photovoltaic energy is already so cheap that it competes with oil, diesel and liquefied natural gas in much of Asia without subsidies. Roughly 29pc of electricity capacity added in America last year came from solar, rising to 100pc even in Massachusetts and Vermont.[Snip] The technology is improving so fast--helped by the US military--that it has achieved a virtous circle. Michael Parker and Flora Chang, at Sanford Bernstein, say we entering a new order of "global energy deflation" that must ineluctably erode the viability of oil, gas and the fossil fuel nexus over time.

STAMFORD, Conn. — Jeb Bush defended his controversial comments about immigration reform, insisting they were nothing new for him and urging “sensitivity to the immigrant experience.” At a Connecticut Republican party dinner Thursday night, the former Republican governor of Florida did not repeat his remarks from last weekend at his father’s presidential library, when he said that people who come to the United States illegally in search of a better life for their children “broke the law, but it’s not a felony. It’s an act of love.” This time the potential 2016 candidate put it differently. “To be young and

The deportation of foreigners living illegally in the United States is similar to the forced internment of ethnic-Japanese Americans in World War II, according to Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. “I’ll be very honest with you: Looking at the numbers at some point, in terms of how people are treated and deported and families separated and the rest, this has a scent of Japanese internment,” Pelosi told a Politico reporter. “It’s really a black mark,” said Pelosi. Roughly 110,000 ethnic-Japanese immigrants and their American children were detained during World War II after Japan’s sneak attack on Americans in Pearl Harbor. Pelosi also urged Obama
