For every 1 million illegal immigrants that are granted amnesty, there is the potential for at least 5 million family members riding on their coattails.

So, for 20 million added, there is a potentiol for a further 100 million added to the population over a very short period of time.

The anchor baby thing should have been challenged in court a long time ago. That decision was made to make sure blacks,born in this country were citizens,it had nothing to do with foreigners coming in here,having babies and getting a free ride.But even if you agree with it,there should be a 5 year cap on it.

Let's suppose immigration reform passed and it had things in it we liked. Obama would sign an exe. order in 5 minutes getting rid of what we like,just like he undid welfare reform.

Having Boehner as the main spokesperson for the party now makes a bad situation even worse.Even if you picked up 5% more hispanics,you would lose many times that in your base.

For the past 13 years I've worked in a high school in metro Denver. Of a total enrollment of 1700, 80 percent are hispanics. Generally speaking, the following is true of the hispanic youth in the school: They come from large families that don't place a high value on education. They don't assimilate and have a romanticized view of mexico. The scariest consideration is that these "students" operate somewhere between no loyalty to USA and resentment of USA. There are 2 million more boatloads of them on the way.

This will create an overwhelming, permanent Democrat voter base and a true one party system. Not to mention handing over US sovereignty to a voting block dominated by a foreign born entity, and their offspring whose allegiance lays outside US.

Might as well just dissolve the GOP for all intents and purposes they are all DNC under foreign rule now.

If the wimpy Republicans cave and allow any sort of "path to citizenship" amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens they will be committing long-term political suicide by handing a massive new ethnic voter bloc to the liberal Democrats in the years ahead. Only a stupid political party would do that.

The liberal Democrats want to grant US voting rights to as many of those illegal aliens as possible so that they can vote in US elections. The liberal Democrats would not be doing that if they thought that more then a small percentage of those new voters would have an epiphany and vote for conservative Republicans.

Illegal aliens should have to comply with the immigration laws just like all legal immigrants are required to do. Any legalization program should give whatever number of illegal aliens who are deemed eligible only a limited immigration status that allows them to stay and work, and to come and go from the USA as long as they continue to work. They should not be allowed to bring additional millions of their foreign family members here or be eligible for public assistance. If they wish to apply for permanent residence they should have to do so in accordance with the immigration laws just like all legal immigrants are required to do now.
