BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Here's the Art Laffer sound bite. Cookie found this. I tell you, earlier today I'm watching Fox News and Art Laffer's on, and he says, "Oh, Martha, I've never been more optimistic in my life." And coupled with everything else, I was reduced to almost uncontrollable giddy laughter. LAFFER: I'm very, very hopeful about what's gonna happen, Martha. I think this was the election not to win. We have the 2013 Taxmageddon that I think is gonna lead to a very sharp drop in economic activity and, you know, looking at 2014 I'm very excited about how the elections
Love Art Laffer and his curve. And I'm trying to be optimistic. I am just so bummed out. I feel like I have been hit by a Mack truck. I really feel bad for Romney. He did a great job and it really looked like we were going to do it. I'm so afraid for my country, and I admit it, for myself. I'm scared sh**less.
The problem is that while politically Obama's continued failure may eventually help the country (I'm not sure how), there are real people with families who are going to suffer immeasurably. Many already have for the past 4 years. Now we're going to drag it on for another 4 years.
Sorry Mr. Laffer. There is nothing funny here. Nothing at all.
Laffer is spot on. The only way to deal with the second Dear Leader's second regime is to laugh at it. As an aside, laughing at liberals makes them absolutely apoplectic. Laughter is the only sober response to absurdity.
While Laffer may be right, I concur with #s 1 & 3. I, along with many others, have been on the wrong end of this, much to our detriment and our families futures. I don't need another 4 years of steep economic decline. This election should have been like 1980. I shouldn't have to wait until 2016 and hope for, what?
What are we supposed to do; be like the Russians and stay drunk on cheap vodka and lower our life expectancy to 60 or less just so we can "ease the pain"?
As your parents probably told you, you made your bed, now lie in it. Obama was re-elected, and the whole Country will suffer, and many of them will be those who voted for him. They will rue the day because they stand to lose jobs, incur a depression and/or inflation, definitely incur far high health insurance premiums, and on and on. I fully expand whole companies to move production out of the USA, if they don't move out entirely. Its already begun as businesses are learning exactly what is in the Obamacare law and they cannot live with it.
I hope the people who voted for Obama and his policies really do put it together when the real suffering begins. I hope they are smart enough! Based on what we have seen so far, they may just look for someone else to blame. These people are just not very bright.
We take it like the founders: with our life and fortunes, for the future of our beloved country.
Face it, Romney would have just been a slower boil of the frog. If we have to have this happen--and with half the country thinking 0bama's the guy, we do--then let's get it over with. Let's turn up the flame until the frog jumps out of the pot. Anything else is just a slow march to the inevitable. I'd rather fight myself, now, than leave it to my kids or my grandkids to do.
So now we filled the arsonist's gas can. Great, they will get everything they want and that will show parasites and dreamers how wrong they were. Nifty unless the country goes into a super depression, because we ARE at Great Depression levels in many areas right now. Then there is the matter of a ACLU, Marxist, Supreme Court. All they will do is tear up the constitution and reinterpret laws and amendments into ways even the most paranoid Alex Jones fan can't imagine. Yeah, we sure lucked out.
I think some folks have forgotten who initiates Laws in this Country. According to the Constitution the House does. Then it goes to the Senate then to the President for signature.
I laughed hysterically when Harry Reid claimed that the Republicans were blocking progress. Doesn't he have an IQ high enough to look in a mirror? The Senate has blocked every move made by the Republican House.
The Democrats have not come up with a budget for over 3 years, yet they have blocked every budget that the Republicans came up with. So I defy Hypocrite Reid to state who the blocker is here.
The Senate Democrats should be ashamed of themselves and fire Harry from his position. But since Democrats have no clue what Shame is they won't. I think they are in Ted Kennedy's car.
Hit the button too quick. I meant to add, at the bottom of Limbaugh's article are two stories. One business man fired 22 employees on Wednesday morning, and Boeing is now going to lay of 30% of its employees.
Here's the question......Will PURIST republicans cost us the elections in 2014 and 2016 like they did in 2012? WIll we even HAVE elections in 2016 after the PURISTS sold out the country waiting for their perfect non-existent candidate?
There are many liberals who lead thoroughly decent lives. And there are conservatives who do not. But that is not the whole issue. There is something about liberalism that is not nearly as true about conservatism. The further left one goes, the more one finds that the ideology provides moral cover for a life that is not moral. While many people left of center lead fine personal lives, many do not. And left-wing ideals enable a person to do that much more than conservative ideals do. There is an easy way to demonstrate this. If a married — or even
In the 20th century, Western intellectuals’ two most dominant explanations of disparities in economic, educational and other achievements were innate racial differences in ability (in the early decades) and racial discrimination (in the later decades). In neither era were the intelligentsia receptive to other explanations. In each era, they were convinced that they had the answer — and dismissed and disparaged those who offered other answers. Differences in mental test scores among different racial and ethnic groups were taken as proof of genetic differences in innate mental ability during the Progressive era in the early 20th century. Progressives regarded the
Texas A&M said Tuesday that redshirt freshman Polo Manukainiu and a friend who was joining the Utah football team this fall were among three people killed in a single-car rollover crash in the high desert of northern New Mexico, stunning both schools just days before fall practices begin. Manukainiu, a 19-year-old defensive lineman for the Aggies, and 18-year-old Utah recruit Gaius "Keio" Vaenuku were killed, officials from both schools said. The wreck happened Monday evening on U.S. 550 near Cuba, about 85 miles north of Albuquerque, apparently as the group was returning to suburban Dallas, where three of them had
Living in the Detroit metro area most of the last decade, I have experienced many of the events leading to its bankruptcy.Take, for example, the 2008 State of the City address by then-mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. With Detroit facing a perilous fiscal future and him facing ethics complaints, Kirkpatrick highlighted race. He sparked controversy by using the “n-word” while referencing an insult he received from some random person. Kirkpatrick vowed to stand strong against this attack, and asked citizens to stand by him against a “lynch mob mentality.” He essentially used that slur to leverage racial tension, inciting and dividing the
Stomping on the brakes of a 3,500-pound Ford Escape that refuses to stop–or even slow down–produces a unique feeling of anxiety. In this case it also produces a deep groaning sound, like an angry water buffalo bellowing somewhere under the SUV’s chassis. The more I pound the pedal, the louder the groan gets–along with the delighted cackling of the two hackers sitting behind me in the backseat.[snip]This fact, that a car is not a simple machine of glass and steel but a hackable network of computers, is what Miller and Valasek have spent the last year trying to demonstrate. George Zimmerman’s defense team released a statement Friday shortly after President Obama’s remarks in a press conference. “Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago,” Obama said, and urged the nation to have a conversation about race. Zimmerman’s legal team promptly responded. “To focus on this one line misses the nuances of the President’s message,” reads the statement which was posted at the defense team’s website GZLegalcase.com. Earlier Friday, Robert Zimmerman Jr., George Zimmerman’s brother told The Daily Caller that Obama’s remarks reinforced the “mythology surrounding the case.” The president did not acknowledge the evidence supporting Zimmerman’s claim that Martin
A bizarre attack on a 12-year-old boy operating a lemonade stand in Fairfax County is being investigated as a possible hate crime, according to a search warrant filed in Fairfax County court. The boy and a sibling had set up the stand in the courtyard of the Camden Monument Place Apartments in the 12000 block of Monument Drive on July 6 when a person wearing a full-body leotard decorated with a design of the internal human anatomy exited one of the complex’s buildings about 6:30 p.m., the warrant said. The outfit concealed the person’s identity. The person approached the stand
Angela Corey, the state attorney who has become a household name as the prosecutor in the Zimmerman trial, has a reputation: for overcharging, withholding evidence, and retaliating, professionally and personally, against critics. But she was handpicked by the Florida governor and attorney general for the Zimmerman case. Why? It’s a question that may never be satisfactorily answered — but the evidence suggests the perfect storm in the Sunshine State: a maelstrom of weak-kneed Republicans, coercion, cronyism, and plain bad judgment.
TUCKER, Ark. — Arkansas has a number of dogs behind bars, but they’re not in the pound. They’re part of a program called Paws in Prison that pairs pooches with prisoners for obedience training. Arkansas Department of Correction spokeswoman Shea Wilson says some of the dogs in the program were at risk of being euthanized in animal shelters. Meanwhile, some of the inmates who train the dogs are serving life sentences. Wilson says the program is about second chances for both the dogs and the inmates. The program works with animal shelters and rescue groups across the state to set
PITTSBURGH – The Pennsylvania State Police have charged a western Pennsylvania judge with stealing cocaine from evidence in cases he presided over before he abruptly resigned last year. According to police, the charges against former Washington County Judge Paul Pozonsky will be prosecuted in Washington County by Senior Deputy Attorney General Michael Ahwesh.(snip) In May of 2011, Poznosky allegedly began to request that police bring the confiscated drugs into the courtroom. At that time, the drugs would be entered as evidence and then retained by either Poznosky or his staff. Post corrected by Staff. Please proofread.
The commander in chief of the American armed forces today forced a violation of Marine Corps regulations, so he wouldn’t get wet. According to Marine Corps regulation MCO P1020.34F of the Marine Corps Uniform Regulations chapter 3, a male Marine is not allowed to carry an umbrella while in uniform. There is no provision in the Marine Corps uniform regulation guidelines that allows a male Marine to carrying an umbrella. Nevertheless, during a press conference under a light drizzle with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan this morning, President Obama allowed the First Head to be
The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said Sunday he believes “more whistleblowers” will come forward with information on the deadly attack last year on diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya. “I do think we are going to see more whistleblowers. I know certainly my committee has been contacted, I think others committees [have been contacted] as well,” Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) said on “Fox News Sunday.”Rogers’s comments came days after a trio of State Department officials criticized the Obama administration’s actions regarding the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks at a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing.
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. Temperatures in the Arctic region of Alaska are warming twice as fast as the rest of the U.S, causing ice to retreat, sea levels to rise and coastal erosion to increase. President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
I never thought the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case deserved nearly the attention it got. But reasonable people can disagree about that. What strikes me as unconscionable, however, is the way the supposedly objective media have not only sensationalized a tragedy but at times appear to deliberately bend the facts to fit a desired story line. Maybe it started with the use of pictures of a younger Martin or with the sudden embrace of the term "white Hispanic" to describe Zimmerman in order to more easily paint him as a racist. NBC News was the most egregious offender
