I tend to agree with him on this. What do I want my representatives in Washington focused on? I want them focused on the defense of the nation, promoting the health of our economy, and being the backstop in disasters that are beyond the magnitude that the state can handle.

Would I rather see a day of Senate debate on same-sex marriage or the deficit? I would rather they spend their time on the deficit.

Americans are interested, but they're not interested in hearing the GOP talk about them, especially at the national level. Social issues are not federal issues. Social issues are poison. The GOP has to stop talking about them, or die. You cannot force people to think or act morally. The GOP has become irrelevant for two big reasons: militarism and refusal to stop mixing social issues and politics.

So far off base it is surreal. Why would we pay for illegal immigrants to go to college? The DREAM act is a vote purchase. Public funding for college education of US citizens is already a huge chunk of what is bankrupting the nation – why would you exacerbate the problem by paying for those here illegally?
