In all honesty, I cannot think of a region of this nation that more than deserves the response they are getting from their "Nanny Government". How's all that cold weather working for you socialist pukes? Hang in there. It is only going to get worse.

Don't ask me for any donations to the Red Cross or anyone else on your behalf. Ask your Uncle Obama and your Uncle Chris.

I had to hold my nose to donate (never to Red Cross), but they do need help. Beck is right about letting them see the private donations and compare it to government. You can't let Occupy Wallstreet types fill the void. That's what the Muslim Brotherhood did to gain power in the Middle East.

Sorry for you guys but we have our own big problems here. Our church is contributing to the effort. I hope it helps. Obummer doesn't care about people unless it does something for him. FEMA is like an insurance company, not like a fire dept. Don't ever expect FEMA to be a first responder and don't expect specific help from them. Lessons hard learned but easily forgotten.

Re post #1: You should do some research. the borough of Staten Island voted for McCain in 2008 and Romney this time around. This is payback from the federal government and the media is ignoring it. And if you think this is bad just wait until you need a costly operation under Obamacare and the death panel tumbles to the fact that you're a registered Republican.

Having been through several Cat 5 storms I find the complaining by these Socialists to be amusing. The same problem exists in the third world countries. The locals all waited for the government to bail them out while the people who where successful in their lives, both private and business, who built their own businesses and in general pay the tax bills always took care of their own problems. It is a common sight to see the locals with blue tarps on their houses for years after the storm passed while the successful and ambitious generally get their properties repaired in short order. It's a cultural thing.

They should have taken matters into their own hands a long time ago. That is exactly why we are saddled with the loser communist for another 4 years - people still believe it is the government's job to take care of them even when it is glaringly obvious that they are too incompetent to do so.

Even conservatives forget. FEMA was never designed to be a "first responder". The actual on the ground response was always to be the State, local agencies, National Guard. In this case the affected States don't seem to be too concerned or we would see many more National Guard troops and equipment. Perhaps resistance from the Unions?

I agree that FEMA is not a first responder but it has been more than a week. It is time for the second response. The Red Cross certainly should be there. Remember how Romney's donation collection was sneered at by MSNBC? I bet it would come in handy now. If I were Romney, I'd drive my campaign bus right down there and start handing out donations.

One more thing... I thought Obama had this all sorted out in the situation room as the storm rolled in. One more endless example of how he takes credit but never receives the blame.

And where is Mayor Bloomberg while all this is going on?

If the cold, suffering, residents of Staten Island want to get their mayor's attention, they should march en masse toward New York's City Hall and deploy themselves at the restaurants in the region, then light up the smelliest cigarettes and cigars they can find and puff away.

Soon, Nanny Bloomberg's health Gestapo will show up, and the Staten Islanders can then make their complaints about the poor post-Sandy services they've been receiving and finally get some food, heat, and a good night's sleep in a New York jail.

Since the election, and O's photo op, I've decided to let the Federal government take care of this problem. I won't be donating to any relief funds.

Amen #4. I just received an email from our HR office about an upcoming red cross blood drive. It used the hurricane and the interruption in donations in the NE as a hook to try to get me interested.

I may sit this one out just for spite. They're already getting enough out of me, and the price was just too high (4 more years).

Besides, I doubt any blood from my region would end up in NJ anyway. Too far away.

the election is over, zippy never, ever 'cared' for the little people....so now folks, you are on your own....and the nanny of NY does not care for the little people either....I assume they all voted for zippy anyway!

Look, I do have compassion for those who are suffering, regardless of how hard nosed I sounded in that first post. But at some point, people need to recognize that it is their responsibility to look out for their own welfare and safety. I spent my career in the Fire Service busting my a** to save other peoples a**, so I know just how little people take it upon themselves to prepair , not just for storms and such, but economic problems as well.
Seems so many have deferred their welfare to this nefarious group of individuals referred to as "our government". Let me break this to you gently, all "our government" cares about is their own standard of living, your money through taxation, and your votes to keep them in power. The French underclass eventually figured this out and as the ruling classes heads started to hit the ground via the guillotine, even some of them realized they had stepped in doodoo, but alas too late. The rest is history, and it seems history needs repeating right here in the former USA.

I am still disgusted that my innate conservatism-read concern for all people- made me; without thinking or hesitation, drive my own generator down to Spring Lake Heights to lend ot an old college friend who is a 2nd generation Iron Worker Union rep.
While he has NO PROBLEM letting MY child suffer the policies of his party, I could not allow HIS kids to freeze.
