Backfire: ‘Modern Family’ mocks

Washington Examiner, by Joel Gehrke

President Obama’s Health and Human Services Department used taxpayer money to hire a public relations firm to convince television shows to promote Obamacare. The plan appears to have backfired, as one of the shows targeted mocked the president last night for saddling young people with the cost of his health care law. “In last night’s episode, titled ‘Arrested,’ 13 year-old Luke Dunphy (played by Nolan Gould) suffered from an allergic reaction to soy and was sent to the hospital,” observes Erin Brown of Red Alert Politics. “When three year-old extended family member Lily Tucker-Pritchett (played by Aubrey Anderson-Emmons)

Uh... pardon me for saying this... but these guys have already proven that they will say what Obama wants in exchange for money.

They are merely waiting for a financial inducement so to speak.

They can be bought.

Why should this surprise anyone. Obama took $716 billion from the Medicare fund to finance his ObamaCare.
... And still, they re-elected him.

I would have been more impressed if it had aired before the election. I predict that now that Obama is safely re-elected, shows that don't want to lose conservative viewers will start being more critical of him. It has the added benefit of being able to save face when the ecomony goes down the toilet and people start to notice.

Another good and funny show is Last Man Standing with Tim Allen. On last week's show, he had about 20 Romney/Ryan signs in his yard and his daughter had one Obama/Biden sign. Tim took it out to put in the trash.

The United States has agreed to send new arms to Iraq to thwart Al Qaeda-linked militants currently controlling Fallujah following a request by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, senior defense officials told Fox News. Army Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, declined to detail the immediate status of those trainers, but did confirm Maliki’s request, adding that the United States will send “several thousand” M-16 and M-4 rifles, as well as ammunition. The new weapons have been “sourced,” Warren said, and should arrive in Iraq in weeks. The United States is also in discussions with the Iraqis to send officials to

The myth of the poor, oppressed jihadist never dies. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is the latest Obama administration official to peddle this odious narrative. Cue John Lennon’s cloying “Imagine,” don your plaid pajamas, and curl up with a warm cup of deadly naivete. While meeting with Catholic Church officials at the Vatican in Rome on Monday, Kerry expounded on their “huge common interest in dealing with this issue of poverty, which in many cases is the root cause of terrorism or even the root cause of the disenfranchisement of millions of people on this planet.” In other words: If

The agency later acknowledged much of the information should never have been provided, and even asked the recipients to give it back. “If someone is setting

There are no words to describe what happened Friday during a live event held by Covered California designed to increase interest among young people in the Affordable Care Act. Actually… there are words: insane, perplexing, inexplicable, and psychologically scarring come to mind. What was billed as a “live celebration of the 35 million Americans who now gain access to affordable health insurance under the Affordable Care Act,” the six and a half hour event rapidly — almost immediately — devolved into a celebration of the offbeat and eccentric. "From the biased use of ´stop and frisk´ policies to the impact of unfair mandatory minimum sentences on minority communities, there is widespread evidence that racial disparities pervade our criminal justice system," Cohen said. "These disparities undermine confidence in the system, threaten the cause of justice, and cannot continue in a society that holds fairness and equality in high regard." Reps. Bill Foster (D-Ill.) and Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) have proposed a bill that would require U.S. officials to ensure that immigrants who are detained are made fully aware of their legal rights. The Immigrant Detainee Legal Rights Act, H.R. 3914, establishes an Office of Legal Access Programs, which would educate illegal immigrants about their rights. The program would also help detained immigrants make "informed and timely decisions regarding their removal and eligibility for relief from removal." The bill and its sponsors say this would increase efficiency and reduce the costs associated with immigration proceedings. "Far too often immigrants are taken

President Obama has told Senate Democrats he expects Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to pass immigration reform this year, defying predictions the issue is dead for 2014. Obama believes Republicans will feel politically vulnerable, if they fail to advance the issue, a high priority among Hispanic voters, according to Democratic senators who met with the president this week. Obama sees immigration reform as a source for optimism in what has otherwise shaped up as a tough year for Democrats. “He predicted the House would pass something this year,” said Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), who attended the meeting. Obama cautioned senators to brace themselves for difficult

Maybe you rationalized it by reasoning that you had a familiarity with the book, or knew who the author was, or what the story was about, or had glanced at its Wikipedia page. Or maybe you had tried to read the book, even bought it and set it by your bed for months unopened, hoping that it would impart what was in it merely via proximity (if that worked, please email me). T ea Party activists and the conservative groups that have enforced their agenda are vehemently opposed to the $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that will fund the government through September. Late Thursday afternoon, the Senate passed a $1.1 trillion spending measure that´s best described as a fix -- fix, as in an act of Republican perfidy and chicanery. The process was rigged by Speaker Boehner and Senate Minority Leader McConnell (doubtless with a wink and a nod from Harry Reid) to push through the gargantuan spending measure while giving House and Senate Republicans cover on ObamaCare funding. The bill was an incomprehensible 1,582 pages. Here´s how it worked. House Republicans passed the spending bill with a provision to strip funding from ObamaCare. A federal commission rejected three states’ requests to ask voters for proof of citizenship, issuing a complex decision Friday that said it’s up to the national government, not the states, to decide what to include on registration forms. Under the motor-voter law, federal officials distribute voter-registration forms in all of the states. Arizona, Kansas and Georgia all asked that those forms request proof of citizenship, but the federal Election Assistance Commission rejected that in a 46-page ruling.
