| Wait until next year -- 2016, that is. That’s what disappointed Republican spinners kept saying Tuesday night as they watched Mitt Romney’s hopes crash and burn in swing state after swing state. How many times did I hear a Republican talk about how their party’s deep bench of future all-stars will return it to power in Washington in four years? But all the Ryans, Rubios, Bushes, Haleys and Christies in America can’t put the GOP -- or the country -- back together again.
|
Comments: I've never been a big Michael Reagan fan but he's dead on the mark here. I guess the RINO establishment will most likely run Christe and/or Jeb Bush in 2016. It's his turn. That is if there is an election in 2016

The only reason why I wanted Romney to win is to get Obama out. I really don't trust anyone. The GOP party left us, we didn't leave them.

It's not simply how conservative...there was no red meat...Get another Casey to run the campaign...and had they outed Obama's policies...his racism..his racist pastor and his odd program's...his Communist missile running connected to the Muders in Benghazi...Had they run an ad showing Obama and Hillary eating popcorn in the situation room while our Aambassador was raped and our military Seals were murdered after a 7 hour fire fight....Had they simply shown the Polish cab opined shot down by Puting and run FLEXABILITY? FLEXABILITY ? For what????
We need a conservative who rejects Poloitically correct language and laughs at those who look to impose it ...
The country was worth a dam dirty flight ...and fighting back...
Mitt was a good man but not a street fighter...you cannot let the opposition put us in a pink dress...which was so laughable coming from the opposition... as Larry Sinclair might agree

On the one hand, Mike Reagan says Romney should have preached more real conservatism. On the other hand, he acknowledges that Obama won by promising handouts. Romney did the best he could by preaching opportunity. But, when the remarks came out about the 47 percent, he got pounded, didn't he? The problem is what Rush said. We have a country now where the majority thinks it is the government's job to take care of them.

We know what must be done. Who will lead us to do it?
The Republican brand is tarnished as the 'party of the rich'. That alone puts the party behind in general elections. Add to that the 'play it safe' mindset that dominates party gurus and advisers, and every election is an uphill climb. Democrats claim that they are really the party of the 'middle-class', and many voters believe it.
What is needed is a new party that genuinely represents the middle-class. The 'big tent' model must be abandoned. Political specialization is the future. Choose a demographic model, and represent it well. Draw from both of the existing parties. A multi-party Congress will result, and rule changes to reflect that structure will be made. No party will hold an outright majority, forcing the compromise that voters seek. No more Harry Reid's with dictatorial power. Finally, the middle-class will have its own voice, not to be suppressed by other interests. This model would be more in keeping to what the Framers originally intended.
This transition needs leadership. Who will step forward to do it?

IMO, the republican party is done. They will linger for another couple of decades primarily in fly over country. But the days where they will put an R in the white house are done and over with. If they do win, it will be because they follow the democrats by giving away free stuff to all that don't want to earn it.
And when that happens, calling them R's will not make them R's.
America as I grew up died this week. We are now the New United Socialist States of Amerika. The democrats know it and worked it.

The issue is the libtard/communist control of the media, education and political arenas. The vote fraud performed by the libtards to win this election should make that clear. The soap box and ballot box stages are just about over. The next box is what it appears it will take to remove the barbarians within this Republic's gates. And remember, 50% of the citizens didn't vote for the libtards, only 50% of the about 50% of eligible voters, so that means the weasels won with less than30% of American citizen support. They are out-numbered. Don't believe their propaganda spewed by their media propaganda arm, known as the LSM or alphabet networks, etc.

GREAT article. I agree with every point and would like to add: - An R trying to turn "moderate" keeps conservatives from voting. Look at the lower turn-out! What more needs to be said. - George W. did NOTHING to halt the increase in voter fraud. This is something that can be laid directly at his feet. Does anyone really believe that Philly had 99% turn-out in several districts? Especially when considering that a hurricane had just blown through. Why are there not more articles on the voter fraud? I would not be surprised if there were several million R votes that were never counted. - Romney didn't fight when he needed to - instead, he looked disappointed. And we were told all along that he would get alley-dog mean. - the way that the R's eviscerated themselves in the primaries was especially disappointing. - why isn't John Cornyn getting his butt spanked? - This should have been a cake walk!

Candy Crowley helps O embarrass Mitt about Libya during second debate, so Mitt abandonsthe Benghazi issue? As long as our side does this, why should Democrats change tactics? Reagan was a leader. A fighter. With the establishment and the libs AND no FOX NEWS, he passionately fought for us.

I'd love a happy warrior who lived their message and doesn't apologize for their life. Someone who doesn't turn their cheek in the face of rudeness, lies, or aggression. Someone to take a challenge to the pandering, politically correct professional racists and fans of socialism/communism. Not angry, but firm, confident and with a ready sense of humor and irony. They would have to have a minimum level of understanding about the media and how to reflect the edits and the traps back on them or at least know how to defuse them. That would be a leader for the ages and I don't care what their background was or race or sex, but that would just be the start of restoring sanity to our culture.
Without a serious legal machine, ground game and public relations effort to make EVERY election process fraud free, this ideal candidate will lose even if they win. I'd start all of this with ONE person in America who would be unrelenting in their determination to make sure active military who risk their lives for us, vote FIRST.

#15 hit on a big reason for the loss. Where are all of the Dem votes? In the large cities where they can cheat like crazy. Did anyone else hear Michael Barone say Cincinnati or another large state usually reports in late on election night. It's a matter of "how many votes are you short and how many do you need?" Those are the places Republicans always lose, even Ronald Reagan can't fight that. And wasn't it convenient that the election was lost in almost all of the battleground states in the large cities? My, my, my, what a coincidence.

Don't blame Romney. He is a very fine person, with principles, executive experience, governmental experience, admirable religious orientation and a lifetime record of charitable acts, everything his opponent lacked. We stood by and let him be smeared by people with none of those traits.
Why? Because we let stupid, uninformed, half fast people vote, for candidates who had not a prayer in this world of winning, for total non entities, or not vote for whatever nonsensical reason whatsoever. They are out there and we are stuck with them. There is nothing "sure" about victory, anymore than there is anything sure about the survival of this great experiment in representative government.
I am embarrassed for us.

With the benefit of hindsight we can see that the Romney campaign made a few key mistakes. But a larger question to me at this point is whether or not Mitt would have been able to govern had he won by a point or two.
That rodent dropping named Harry Reid would have shortstopped every economic or tax proposal, every effort to repeal ObamaCare, and every important judicial nominee. He and the crapweasel Schumer would have been at the microphones every day decrying Romney´s "right wing extremism", and the MSM would have lapped it up and framed every issue as their Democrat masters presented it. We the sensible people might have gotten a two or three year reprieve from our fate, but nothing more.
As an earlier poster said, a majority of voting Americans have chosen straight-ahead socialism even if they didn´t fully understand what they were doing. We have to live with their idiocy and make our own plans and adaptations.
And one more thing: no one great individual will emerge to save us from this. That´s not how it works. The courts are gone, the Constitution is a dead letter and a majority of the American voting public doesn´t know that and couldn´t care less. The rubicon has been crossed, and there ain´t no goin´ back.

Does this sound familiar? 1. A group of Americans on a diplomatic mission to reach out to Muslims are pinned down by al-Qaeda and come under overwhelming fire. 2. They repeatedly call for support fire missions, which are denied because they cannot absolutely guarantee no civilians are in the area. 3. A frustrated American warrior disobeys orders to go on what appears to be a suicide mission to try to save them.

So what lessons should Republicans learn from the 2016 election? I don’t think anyone other than me has thought to ask this question, as Republicans tend not to be very analytical. But I think the answer is pretty obvious when you look at the failure of their presidential candidate this year and the one in 2008: Republicans need to stop nominating right-wing extremists like John McCain and Mitt Romney. Obviously, the two most recent Republican presidential candidates were far too extreme to the right to be elected by the American public.

It was a brazen and surprisingly long-lived scheme, authorities said, to help aspiring public school teachers cheat on the tests they must pass to prove they are qualified to lead their classrooms. For 15 years, teachers in three Southern states paid Clarence Mumford Sr. — himself a longtime educator — to send someone else to take the tests in their place, authorities said. Each time, Mumford received a fee of between $1,500 and $3,000 to send one of his test ringers with fake identification to the Praxis exam. In return, his customers got a passing grade and began their careers as cheaters,

It started as a way for an 8-year-old girl to keep up with her big brother. Sam Gordon just wanted to run with the older kids. The coaches in the local tackle football league figured, hey, why not? Maybe they could turn it into a drill: Who can outrun Max's little sister? They were shocked to find the answer: no one. Sam Gordon, now 9, became one of the fastest kids this Salt Lake City area "Gremlins" league had ever seen. They put her in drills and she outran boys two years older. They allowed her into the "Sharks and Minnows" game and stared in awe at not only at her speed, but her ability to move like a tailback. Link repaired, content added by staff

Yesterday Mitt Romney pulled level in Ohio. “A late surge by Mitt Romney has made the contest between him and President Obama to win Ohio too close to call”, screamed Fox News. “Presidential Poll sees dead heat in Ohio”, announced the rather more measured UPI wire story. “Romney, Obama Tied in New Ohio poll”, said the Wall Street Journal, with characteristic hyperbole. Somewhat surprised at this dramatic turn of events, I immediately logged on to the internet to see what lay behind the reversal of fortune in the Buckeye state. And promptly found it was rubbish.

Ambassador Susan Rice has been roundly criticized of late for her comments made on five Sunday morning talk shows the weekend after the Benghazi tragedy in which four Americans lost their lives to a terrorist attack. Because Rice stated her belief that the violence was the result of a mass demonstration gone bad, rather than the planned extremist attacks we now know them to be, some have even gone so far as to demand her resignation from her current cabinet position as United States ambassador to the United Nations.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent
